  1. My Saab 9-5 Estate had a button on the driver's door that released the filler flap. I was surprised when we bought a new Yeti it didn't have the same and our latest Karoq doesn't either. Such an easy thing I would have thought it was standard these days. steve
  2. Sadly, such stereotypes about the hobby are still prevalent in the mass media, despite the efforts of programmes like TGMRC. steve
  3. Have a look at this amazing piece of 1/35 scale modelling. Definitely not mine, sadly. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/152589-d9r-major-maintenance-can-the-admin-please-move-this-to-the-rightful-forum/ steve
  4. Has anyone here any experience of using this shop for mail order? I placed an order with them on the 1st June and received an acknowledgment email saying it was being processed. Since then, nothing. I have emailed them twice but with no reply. This is not the sort of service that I expect from a mail order firm, even in the current circumstance. In the last couple of months I have used other firms and had the goods within days of ordering. Much as I dislike phoning, I will probably have to resort to calling, if only find out what's going on steve (disgruntled)
  5. They will never get those first three parcels on the Post Office scales.... steve
  6. Interesting markings on the 08. Looks a General mark on the cab, which, I suspect was not common. steve
  7. That's the one I saw outside the factory when a couple of us from school nipped up there one lunch hour. It was only a few minutes by bike away. steve
  8. I remember seeing this building when I started commuting into Padd in 1968. It definitely had a siding then because there was a small industrial shunter (about Peckett sized) always in there, bunker outwards. Probably dumped but I could never get a good look from a moving DMU. steve
  9. It's a bit mean taking crayons from frozen kids... steve
  10. A GT40 AND Mrs Peel. Not much beats that as a combo. steve
  11. It's fascinating to see the spread of time involved with all these different memories. Railfreight 1998 speaks about the 2000s as early memories but to me that's still yesterday. Marly51's story on the other hand is very much in line with my memories of being the son of a BR fitter at Slough in the early 1950s. steve
  12. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz steve
  13. Seen crossing the road as we drove through a neighbouring village last evening, a pair peacocks, one of each. steve
  14. Might it have been better to have put the quiz in its ow thread? steve (With 20/20 hindsight)
  15. The track formation has now been laid in the scenic boxes and is now drying. steve
  16. Yes it is. Incidentally, the Calibra and the Mini look they might be salvageable too. steve
  17. If that’s a real Droopsnoot then owner needs to protect their investment! steve
  18. A point for Peter Marriott about graffiti. As you don’t like it, what you could consider is have it as ‘painted over’ in the way that authorities do when they want to cover it up. A patch of, say white or grey, painted on a structure would show where the offending art work had been and was now neutralised. Hopefully this image gives an idea of how it can look. steve
  19. Best thing to do with them. steve
  20. Fitted a No 18 to the loco ok. Now I need to chop the match truck about to get a Kadee on that. steve
