  1. Having got my Naim CD 5X back in operation yesterday, so far it has hosted: Miles Davis - The Lost Quintet Yes - Glastonbury 2003 Status Quo - Backbone I'm working my way through the pile of unplayed CDs that contains birthday presents, a couple of purchases and, the majority, ones that have been sent to me from music biz contacts. steve
  2. It's probably to stop you doing either of those things. That said, my 2005 Pug 407SW will happily do 2 to 4 and 3 to 5 without complaining. steve
  3. Jools, I've used PVA for years on several layouts* over foam (proper stuff, not Peco) and not had any problems. steve * Some of which you've seen
  4. Here's one of the 'hollow sleepers' that I saw at Eastrington Station on the Selby-Hull line when the level crossing was being updated in summer 2018. steve
  5. A lockdown project in two permanently connected boxfile plus a fiddlestick add on. Industrial location in late 1970s/early 1980s. Proposed track plan shown. Thanks for looking. steve
  6. I noticed you have the try Metcalfe factory building on the layout. How did you find the kit went together? Thanks steve
  7. With The Beatles on original mono vinyl (1963) Followed by Vision Thing by The Sisters Of Mercy, also original vinyl. steve
  8. Don't let Trump know or he'll be advocating it as a cure along with the disinfectant and his other 'remedies'. steve
  9. This is an excellent project and I will be looking closely at your operating system for a future layout of my own. Thanks for posting it! steve
  10. So does Angus Young and he does alright with it. steve
  11. The convertible version looked a bit like bathtub. Certainly stand out in a crowd though. steve
  12. Something else on the Sentinel. Have you tried Laserglaze? Here’s one of mine with it. It’s dead easy and makes quite a change. steve
  13. I've used PVA successfully on foamboard. You might also consider Roket Glue. https://deluxematerials.co.uk/products/roket-card-glue steve
  14. Just found this thread an absolutely staggered by the standard of modelling. Certainly given me food for thought! (Including giving up.) A couple of questions if I may? A) How easy was it to fit 3 links to the Ruston and the Sentinel? B) Have you given any (more) thought to offering your printed buildings for sale? Cheers steve
  15. Once again this Forum has proved what a wealth of help and support it provides. Three members have contacted me about a copy of the mag and I thank you all for that. 31A is putting his copy in the post to me so I can, at last, get to read it. Many thanks Steve! steve
  16. I have just received an email from Bauer Media saying that this issue is out of stock and they are unable to source a replacemen. At least I'm getting a refund. Ah well, better luck next time. It's a pity, as I really wanted to read that issue. Anyone got a copy they no longer want? Willing to pay. steve
  17. Been there and done that. It's one my tasks on ERFG layouts as well as my own. The only problem is knowing when to stop! steve
  18. The sector plate had developed a slight warp, which was affecting how the tracks lined up vertically. As you can guess, to rebuild the whole thing would be complete nightmare, so a solution needed to be found. Some sort of bracing would do it but what? Any sort of wood would be likely to assume the same curvature, in sympathy with the existing timber. However, metal, in the correct format, should avoid this happening. The answer was L shaped aluminium strip. The nearest B&Q to me has re-opened so off I went this morning and found just what I needed, a metre of 1.5cm x 1cm ally strip. This was sawn to length and screwed securely down, as can be seen in the attached pic. It improved the situation but is not a complete cure. Some judicious rail height adjustment is still needed but much test running with an 08, with and without stock, has shown the way ahead. A Class 70 sailed over everything but being long and heavy it would... The other pic shows the Scale Model Scenery 'wood' panel fencing in place, plus the test loco! Thanks for looking. steve
  19. Just found this thread. It's a fascinating and original project which I will be following with interest. Good luck with Faller kits! steve
  20. No man is an island. Except Barry. steve
  21. Given that this shed will be set hard against the backscene, I have been wondering whether to: a) Add a solid back of plasticard (or thick card), or b) Fix it to the actual backscene. If a), then I have a sheet of 'mirror' plasticard and wondered about using that. The structure will be lit by an LED let in from the back. Any thoughts chaps/chapesses? Cheers steve
