Hangmans bridge was built into the surrounding hillside mate and used as access for a farmer.
Unfortunately dont have the space on that part of the layout to model wild boar fell,a backscene will have to be the next best thing.
Not done any work on the layout for a while, but tonight i cleaned the trackwork, and had a little play!
Patriot "The Northamptonshire regiment" was having a run up to the summit...
Passing the summit sign...
View from the bridge....

Lovely photos mike & love the weathering on those tanker wagons.
Nice new black 5 too,the Hornby super detail one i have didnt come with draincocks either so i think it's something they all dont come with.

Really starting to look the part already jeff
Im sure ive seen an old film from the 1960s of an 8f going over that bridge, and im sure the steel girder section was painted grey..rather than green as it is now..i could be wrong though!

Bridge is coming along great jeff
I know it very well from driving underneath it when im going over to scout green or the Lake District.
I think in recent years theve put a big steel support under it,or maybe its there to take the impact of a wagon/bus hitting it by accident.

Hi jock, cheers for the kind comments, much appreciated.
Yeah think i'll have to disguise the light switch with an off cut of backscene, when I eventually get back over to the real location to take some photos.

Had a couple of spare hours today for once!
Thought id try using my airbrush for the first time and try to weather a loco.
So i picked on an old Bachmann BR standard 4mt to have a go on....
Before....
After....
Quite pleased with it,havent got the guts yet to do something more expensive though!

Hiya andy
Sorry pal,no progress of late or even anything running round the loft due to me been busy with work & looking after a toddler!
Hopefully i'll get a bit of free time soon though mate.

Thats looking very impressive jeff.its making me want a tunnel on my layout!! Ha ha!
The photo with the coach.... The coach looks tiny in front of the fell, really gives it a sense of scale!

Great work on the 9f andy.even more so that there wasnt an airbrush used on it!
That mucky browny colour looks spot on.
I actually bought a cheapish airbrush & compresser last week.
Ive been looking through a book by tim shackelton on weathering locos so im going to have a try soon when i get chance.

Superb photos as always mike
Those shots taken across the layout looking at the station front make it very intresting and different to look at.
By far one of the best layouts on rmweb!

Cheers andy
The weathering on the BR standard was done with powders & a bit of dry brushing, but as you know mate im not happy with it and need to learn how to use an airbrush and try and copy your skills!

Very helpful andy,thanks very much.
That Q1 looks great and very typical of them in later years,so much better than a shiny new model of it.
Thanks again for taking the time to post up those pics.

Hi andy
Stunning work on that wd mate.
Im seriously thinking about buying an airbrush after messing about with powders.
Could you kindly do a step by step guide on how you did the wd?
Which paints etc,i love that grotty all over look youve gave it,i cant seem to get the same look by just using powders.
Cheers
