  1. Hi, a couple of questions please Hive mind! I’ve just bought the above. Very disappointed. Coming from a Hornby Elite (which I though was complicated) this is even more baffling. 1) I have 35 DCC fitted locos- apparently I have to re-code every single loco (on programming track) for the unit to recognise the DCC address? Is this correct? 2) I’ve done one, but when I change to main track, it’s still completely dead! I’ve re-read, several times the instructions, I can’t see how to change the hand set from track programming to main track? Any help would be very much appreciated. regards
  2. I was thinking what financial yeald they can extract from the old tooling. The maximum return for minimum investment. Absolutely, new tooling and models sell. Completely needed to move the brand forward to keep interest. But how much legacy sales value is in the back catalogue? Successful exploitation of historic models could contribute to new tooling budget. Anyway, it’s about maximising value from different market segments. Retro classic is a different and complimentary channel to new tooling.
  3. Ha! Well I mean a *Century 21 paint job. *regards to Gerry Anderson
  4. Great idea! I have a similar thought. Hornby “Classic” class 77, 81, APT, etc with the (Excellent) Limby power bogie and Y21K paint job. And please, Battle Space Turbo car! There’s a market for nostalgia! Seriously - Hornby should look to really sweat the tooling assets that exists (I know there a ? over if APT still exists).
  5. And to quote OVB, “rather a guttural remark” Bulleid of the Southern, HAV Bulleid.
  6. May I ask anybody that has a model from the latest batch a question please? I’m keen on the “chromatic” blue, but my existing Dapol Western, Cavalier, makes a racket with a nosy motor. Are they quieter, with this batch? My recent Dapol class 73 is silent! Regards
  7. Out now, Hornby MK2D, erm, Mk2E Pullman coach pack!?
  8. I think you’ll find this is an environmental issue. Blown polystyrene uses nasty cfs in production. This new packaging is recycled cardboard and therefore much better for the planet. If I remember correctly, all the Olympic stuff used paper/cardboard as polystyrene was not allowed as part of the contract (?) So this new packaging is superior.
  9. Let me know if anybody want to sell the sound chips!
  10. Three generations of Teak. 1st pic is the second run, E11000, 2nd is new Buffet 21611, 3rd is the original full brake 2426- with ducket!

  12. Yes, Hornby 71 is a way better performer. Ive 5 Hornby and 5 DJ now.
  13. In other news, last call for the Class 71 E5015 Golden Arrow at Hattons. 1left, I had the penultimate one and a blue for prosperity!
  14. Four coach emu for £159! Looks cheap, is it Railroad or full fat?
  15. Second payment request recieved. With wishing to challenge or critique other posts caution (which I’m sure is well intentioned) I WILL be supporting. It’s a balance and without pretending to have access to a full evaluation of the project viability, the advertising and website (mostly) look professional to me. Obviously it’s an emotional choice, but I trust that I’ll be receiving my GT 3 in due course!
  16. We will both watch and wait then! My assessment will be on the evidence when completed.
  17. Hi, KR did say early development CADs. But clearly still a way to go. However, for balance (given the “tears at bedtime” on another forum) what is important....and being done, is a regular information flow of the projects progress - well done! Keep the good work up. {FYI I’ve put my money where my mouth is}!
  18. Installed my TTS Valenta into a HST today. Sounds great! Much better than the MTU chip! The horn functions are fun, especially interesting F18/9 High-Low...Prototype loco! Is this a clue..........
  19. To describe Che Guevara as a “murderer” is a gross missrepentation. He was much more than that. The historical context of Cuban history and it’s exploitation by the USA (prior to the revolution) need to be considered. Time magazine named him one of the 100 most influential people of the 20th century.
  20. It’s an excellent piece of work-from a corporate PR point of view. But (for Hornby Railways) it’s completely wrong. The current company is a direct decendant of Rovex. Triang was the superior company, they saw an opportunity and market position that Hornby had missed. Hornby’s {post 1965} DNA is Rovex!
  21. Geoff Wish I’d be there to see/hear them for real myself! I guess we will have to wait for the new class 22 (rebuild project) to actually hear the difference! A long time sadly! Regards
  22. Hi Geoff Erm, both 60° V12 yes, but thats about it. The Maybach is a much more sophisticated engine with dual OHC (4 in total) with 6 valves per cylinder and roller bearing crankshaft. Where as the MAN L12/V18 is a much more basic engine with valve timing controlled pushrods driven by a single cam. difficult to be precise as only very limited YouTube MAN engine sounds. But completely different to a Maybach I think. Regards
  23. Erm, I think not as they have a completely different engine.
