Hi Can anybody advise on installing a (diesel) Hornby TTS chip (8pin) into a 21pin loco? Very impressed with the new class 66 TTS. More fidelity to the sounds compared with previous TTS chips eg Class67. Thanks!

I think one has to be very careful about engine sounds. For myself, I’m only interested in the correct engine noise. So it’s not so much about the loco class, more about what a MAN L12V18/21, Maybach MD 650, MD655, Paxman 6YJXL etc

I’m the same. Usually put a big pre-order in when the announcements come out. Was about £1700 in 2018. But I will not be pre-ordering this year as I won’t support a fixed discount strategy. If I miss out on something then I can live with that.

Id say your right and wrong! Yes, prices have been way to low. It’s a specialist/collectors maket and they should be levering the “pricing power” (the maximum that is sustainable for their products). Clearly, products have been undersold for a period of time. “Artificially high” is in relation to the MRRP, i.e. I look for the greatest discount from the list price, the most competitive deal I can find. The core value to the consumer relates to the perceived quality/desirability of an item, which determines is “pricing point” in the Market.

I really like mine! And overall a much better coupling arrangement than the fixed, previous system. BUT, the drag is much more noticable.

Oh, what is the weight compared to the previous versions?

Hi John No they are changed to Roco style. Each coach now has pick ups for the lights. No through connection.
