  1. I don't see anything holding that SB up apart from any structure behind the steps - I was looking for the strings! Any movement from the line behind the sausages in a straight line across all the junctions is going to bung up the whole works...
  2. I had a similar experience at my local Tesco. The checkout operator had to ask the person in front of me to go to another checkout as the checkout was the handbasket-only one. "You know, the ones without wheels..."
  3. If you're like me, if I went that long without a bath I'd have no trouble 'social distancing'...
  4. It would have been certainly unusual. The only one I can think of first hand would be Dorchester South (for up trains) before the station was rebuilt with a 'proper' up platform. I'm sure it was done elsewhere too...
  5. Doesn't look like any design outshopped by SR or any of their constituents, so I would say it is a contractor's loco.
  6. The current separation point between Platforms 3 and 4 is a bit further down the platform, behind the photographer. The current length of Platform 4 is just longer than a 2+4HST, judging by the distance I had to walk to get to the train the last time I had to catch a train from that platform.
  7. ...along with a certain stiffening of the suspension?
  8. I outlined the 'normal times' situation. My occasional observations from passing over the railway at Yatton station taking supplies to my father is that there are the usual 800s on the London services and 150s and 165/166s on the locals. I've only seen one HST and one XC since the lockdown started.
  9. ...freehold, £25 down and only 13/- a week thereafter...
  10. Probably better appreciated than the normal stock, I would have thought... Regarding loco identification, having been brought up south of the river in the Capital, my ongoing 'expertise' is in SR and BR(S) loco/rolling stock identification. The discussions on the possible numbers of the Deltics, 47s et al and the reasoning thereby is a constant source of further education on matters outwith my original railway knowledge... Many thanks, chaps.
  11. The 2+4 HSTs are used on the Taunton-Cardiff (and return) services up in my neck of the woods. There will be a few a bit further southwest which will do the extended local services down there. IDKO any services rostered for HSTs that in normal times would bridge the Taunton-Exeter gap, there are plenty of Padd-Plymouth, etc. and Cross-Country services which one can change into at Taunton to go further on.
  12. Yes, signal box is just off-screen to the left... Cameraman was on the station/LC footbridge...
  13. In the absence of any current-day activity, a still taken from a video I viewed this morning. Lancing, April/May 1938... It's at 32:40 in this video here: https://screenarchive.brighton.ac.uk/detail/3376/
  14. AFAIR the unpainted Aluminium finish PEP prototype coaches (in 2001 originally) used red double arrows and lettering...
  15. I've seen a Flickr image of the blue one, dated 2 October 2016. Details are it was LNER BGP 70754, which became Internal User (IU) 041366. It was preserved in 1991 and, as of the date of the image, was in open storage at the Stephenson Museum. The Wiki page for the North Tyneside Steam Railway lists it as still there 'awaiting restoration'. As a non-passenger vehicle, I do not envisage it is high priority... The red Brake is not listed on the above Wiki page, so I assume it is no longer there. The number on the coach is incomplete in DaveF's photo, my assumption is that it is either ADE32078 or ADE32079 or is a 6-digit number starting with those, and have Googled those numbers without success, so I fear that that coach is no longer extant. EDIT: a more liberal search eventually revealed that it is ADE320797, originally a Brake First, previously numbered E11047E. Departmentals.com has various sightings of it on the Stainmore Raiway, Kirkby Steven. An accompanying picture shows a vehicle stripped to the framework, so it looks like restoration is in progress, hopefully.
  16. Cities: Skylines had a DLC drop this week, so I've been holding off starting a new city until the Mods I use are updated for the new DLC. So, what do I play while in lockdown? A quick peruse on Steam threw up this one, cheap as it is in Early Access... Airport CEO is now on my regular play list...
  17. Nice 'social isolation' idea - go out to the middle of nowhere and video trains...
  18. The UK Government have said that all Pubs, Clubs, etc should close. One upside - I could get some bog roll (one pack of 24) in Tesco this morning as the shelf-clearers have now transferred their attentions to the alcohol aisle instead of the pasta and toilet roll sections...
  19. Whatever the protests were about, if it's in Canada the group in question should be referred to as 'First Nation' people...
  20. C8618 - that young lad will be a workman when he grows up - he's getting the 'at rest' pose perfected nicely...
  21. Getting a much better performance from the RMWeb site over the past few occasions I have visited. Thanks for your efforts in clearing up the issue.
  22. There were a couple of longer R1 sets that replaced the R4 stock (sets 469/70) which were discovered to have clearance issues in Lewes tunnel while working Eastbourne-London peak services...
  23. '...and will receive retraining." DPD train their drivers???
