  1. I remember very well the BR Blue era and most of my models are of that era. My BR era stuff is mainly Lickey route stuff and my unfinished railway would be a kept open closed station. It will have DMUs from Tyseley Bristol and Cardiff and shunters from Gloucester. BUT I also like hydraulics and GWR steam. there are other interests such as a MR 2P. Reading books about the 1950s and 60s in the south west also interested me, I have travelled down that way in mid 60s pre blue grey, but my earliest reliable memory is a Warship on Maroon Blue Grey. A recent purchase of an NBL type 2 got me thinking. I seriously considered modelling part of the Falmouth branch, due to a signal box over a running line. But in the end the Helston branch got me. Why? It is closed and possibly lost for ever, also my father remembers it well as he is from Lizard. Also I can build one within 2m and 1.5m for visible section, stretch to 2.4 x 1.8 for breathing space, final sizes though not final. In the end two pictures pushed me. Also a book with plans. One was of a NBL type 2 with a Sunshine brake and a non corridor third. And pictures of the platforms and sidings at Nancegollan. So utterly weird. So far I have 2 locos, 5 carriages and a handful of wagons.
  2. I have no idea what the GWR used as the only hoppers appeared to be grain or ballast, cannot find ANYTHING about pre 32 Sepentine traffic and only minimal about 1950s/60s
  3. The serpentine hoppers, cannot find where it went, but in 1960s ex LMS Iron Stone hoppers were used. The Shark, there is a good Cambrian kit of them, I have one, along with quite a few Dogfish.
  4. Don't get that. 31 or 33 blue or green I would understand
  5. I like the 2Ps I am trying to make one out of a faulty tender drive Hornby ex Airfix with Comet chassis and LRM tender.
  6. I don't actually like the Beatles. And this is going back to the 60s!
  7. A friends years ago used to joke about the robbers should pay to preserve D326. This is many years ago over 30 nearer 40

It is fraud, pictures of what you could win, then a comment for a little box. a crook!
  11. A gruntier motor would be nice as well as I am not sure of longevity hauling 3 cars around. Considering dual motoring, if it cooks.
  12. I went up there once on a large bike had wheel spin going UP HILL at roughly double the limit. NOTE well over 30 years ago.
  13. Our company has a small number at work policy, that means unless masked and tested no more than 2 bubbles in the office, often that is two people, say me and boss, or support chap, boss and his sister. I will be in soon to finish the config of some barcode kit..
  14. Just worked it out, was not 25 miles more but more double the distance. A419/7 @ 33 miles M4 M5 @ 70 miles
  15. The traditional Gloucestershire and Worcestershire to East routes are. To Swindon or M4 East, A417 via Birdlip, either bypasses or drop down M5 to new junction just south of GVBP junction. To M40, either A44 or A40 to Oxford. Anything North East M5 M42. Going south west M5 Going Wales NOT M5 M4, M50 is better, had the moan from someone who moaned about stuck at Almondsbury and bridge tolls, everyone else said M50! The boring MWAY crowd will do Bath via M5 M4 but across the Cotswolds on A46 is so much more pleasant. And crross country can be faster than less direct MWAYS.
  16. My road map was too small scale and I don't own Explorer 169 yet. Came back that route due to road works on the Warminster Westbury route.
  17. I ended up using a phone map
  18. Why? Extra 20 30 miles for no benefit A417 is a nice bit of road. I should have taken the small lane across when south of Swindon and gone over the M4 junction but thought the route would be obvious. The A417 is the only main road heading north as well. A sign saying M5 and north rather than M4 east for the road to north. That was the most ridiculous thing. Their suggested route to go east was not the best route as it involved driving to the north west of Swindon
  19. I would like alternate motor bogies. I not into the replace the rtr model yearly thing. There is the Replica chassis when available. Anyway my current need is 3 x 8ft6in motor bogies
  20. Low rider I will need one of your old ones, then I will have 2 x 3 car DMUs to do
  21. Seen pictures of ex LMS Iron Stone hoppers in Cornwall!
