  1. Don't forget, Neil, that a lot of locos were patch painted when re-numbered; a mismatch of paint colour is probably most prototypical
  2. Thanks Roger, I have both the Trax 2 and Trax 3 books, very interesting the both. Looking forward to seeing progress and good luck with the build. Regards,
  3. Unusual to see a Class 114 (Derby Heavyweight) unit on a Leeds service at Masboro' most were loco hauled as part of the NE/SW corridor services. Going by the date, it's not beyond possibility that I could be one of the gaggle of spotters on/around the barrow on P4 in the background. Until recently I didn't realise that DMU power cars and trailers had different TOPS identities (114 & 148) in this case. Thanks for this pic David - reminds mi o' mi yoof
  4. If you could, some step by step and finished detail pics of the locking bars, tappets and frame would be greatly appreciated Also, which levers are you using? Thanks,
  5. Apropos a separate discussion, Firecatcher's ok but the rest....... Not sure whether it's still available at £1 bottle in ASDA? (Other beer outlets are available) EDIT: Currently drinking....... .....Tea ☕
  6. Fellow modellers, please post details of your observed affected models i.e. Manufacturer, catalogue numbers and model description. Please be kind to limit posts to just these details and refrain from general discussion so that the topic remains easily searchable. Despite the polite request above, the thread had become a discussion topic...... Please continue to post, but ONLY details of models that YOU have observed in the example format: (manuf) (Cat No.) (Model) (affected part) Bachmann 32-150 N Class footplate casting distortion and break up Any posts that do not contain this information will be hidden so as not to clutter the thread with general discussion, for which there are many other outlets on RMWeb. Please continue to post as requested and the compiled lists will appear below in due course. Rgds. THE LIST MazakRotList_v2.0_07042022.pdf
  7. To help others, when people are doing their checking, would it be a good idea to post the results and catalogue numbers in a separate thread? I have completed a search of the forum using the search function "mazak rot" and it doesn't show such a thread so I've created one here: http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/123769-mazak-rot-the-affected-models-list/ If this does indeed prove to be a duplicate will one of the Mod's please merge as they see fit to preserve the 'easy lookup' list that I'm advocating? Thanks.
  8. Wasn't the high speed running carried out as a part of some 'dipped rail joint' testing IIRC? Edit: Couldn't open links Keefer posted when I wrote the above - wouldn't have needed the IIRC
  9. More than likely part of a HST (253/4) which in itself is a bit strange as TOPS class 2xx were used for DEMUs, which HSTs clearly are not.
  10. If it helps, I'm tending towards referring to pre TOPS locos by their 'Type' class e.g. English Electric Type 1 or their accepted nickname e.g. 'Peak'; only when they have gained TOPS numbers do I refer to the by class, in this case 20 and 44/45/46 as appropriate. When I remember that is
  11. Dave, Think J3176 is a '46' Based on number, side triangular grille and headcode style.
  12. The listing has ended, so possibly someone did buy it! The listing has ended, so possibly someone did buy it! I think it just expired, it was only 23 mins to the end when I posted it here. Edit: No idea what's going on with the 'quote' function there.......
  13. Thanks very much for that, I'm using a raspberry pi to experiment with, ironically, cos it's cheaper than an Arduino! Lots to learn yet though! Rgds,
  14. Keybuk, Can you elaborate a bit more on the raspberry pi solution please? Also, how do you decode/process the info read into the microcontroller - or is that in the railcom standard? Edits correct what autocorrect thinks I want to type...... Grrrr!
  15. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/00-Gauge-Model-Railway-/322518905465?hash=item4b179ff279:g:GY4AAOSwBOtY84am "Only selling due to a new project" Not at that price you ain't
  16. That's stretching a point innit Unless - and I can't tell from the resolution of the pic I can see, that those first two vehicles are some of the ex Manchester Pullman MK2 cars?
  17. Tim, how did you manage that? I uploaded the pic but I still can't fetch it back; PM me if you wish?
  18. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/gallery/image/8372-aye-aye-skipper/ Sorry it's a link, according to the page it doesn't exist when I try to fetch it back Next, how about an electric blue locomotive?
