  1. You can get rolls of black wrap a self adhesive 2 inch wide roll of black foil. If leds are too bright, colour them with sharpies. Good luck!
  2. Vecchio Thank you but they are pricey. I suppose you have to pay for reliability. I am trying to develope a consistant solution for all carriage rakes and dmu, emu, LT sets. Do I go with 4 pin nem (hugely adapted for LT tubes), or keep couplings seperate? (I already have 'barrier waggons'for dragging new stock (non motored) available) Also Thank you all for your responses... as usual really quick. Surely as LX get smaller there should be a better solution semi-commercial ? Let's face it, Ngauge and 2mmfswant it as well.
  3. These look good but no room for nem couplings...I am using draw bars on these emus.
  4. Thanks for that. I looked at both... hobby king does have some but the pics look 3 pin... imay have to go 2x2
  5. Does anyone know of a discreet 4pin plug and socket connector to go between coaches? I want to run through pickups on one pair and my own 5v lighting circuit on the other pair. I should say this is emu sets and in OO. Cheers!
  6. Weathering powders then a spray with matt varnish ?
  7. Does that mean that it would/could be used to cut copperclad vero/matrix board?
  8. Why not fit some brass top hat bearings in the axle boxes. Then you can fit Hornby or your choice of wheels.
  9. If you have a maplins that is still open they did sell them and most stuff should be reduced.
  10. You could always scan the sides (in a dark room) then tidy up in photoshop or other graphics program then print out on either sticky lables or even on decal paper. Just a thought...
  11. Check out the bluebell-railway.co.uk website go to blog scroll down to stock lists and take your pick. There are alot of rtr stuff that fits!
  12. This may be in the wrong place... but cheap warm white leds at poundland
  13. Or z guage micro trains coupler? I did see somewhere that they are smaller ones now. My problem is that I would rather see before I buy... does anyone know of a good stockist in South London?
  14. Not sure about this... but if you were to fit neodium magnet to one end and steel plate to the other, would it to be possible to uncouple using same polarity electro magnet on track under the end with steel plate to repel magnet?
  15. I run a lot of London underground tube stock, mainly 1938 stock. They are in fixed 4 car and 3 car units. To run a 7 car train is a bit of a pain coupling. Track is very level. Does anyone have an opinion on 2mm scale equivalents to kadees given that tube stock is so much smaller the 4mm kadees are just too big?
  16. This was covered somewhere on the bluebell railway blog. I remember reading it. Something about the couple walking home along the line on a very dark night in the blackout... ?
  17. There is a very good substance to use... but you do have to be a bit quick with it... A denture repair kit! It is a base of a kind of super glue and a resin powder... I use it all the time. It sets quick and can be filed filled sanded and is very strong! (I learnt this because when I was a member of t&dmrc eons ago, we had an amazing modeller who was a dentist)! Grab THEIR TOOLS , they are invaluable.
  18. You could try 151 acrylic sealant... it is great as it isn' t affected by temperature changes!
  19. How about (on a larger scale) festiniog slate train down to the port?
  20. Really orange rust on rails... I'm annoyed when I see it because I've done it too!
  21. What I dont get with the A4 bundle is this: you get printer (hp laser jet pro 200 M251n) 1×cyan 1×magenta 1×yellow 1×black & 1×white which comes to £334.23. If you were just buying the cartridges it costs more!! So when you run out of toner, it's cheaper to buy a new bundle! What would be good would be for someone to write some software so that the colour toner can be assigned then anyone with an hp printer that takes this size cartridge could just order a white one and simply swap it for (for example) the yellow one?
  22. Sorry forgot to mention led forward voltage without resistor should not be more than 4.5v max for white as a rule (2 to 2.5 max for red ) I would guesstimate 4v for white or warm white.
  23. A very usefull tool... search online for 'LED Calculator' this lets you put in the voltage supply, assume as above 20mamps per led and it will tell you the correct resistors to use. Hope this helps. Ps you can also choose series or parallel - it designs the circuit for you! Dom.
