I have to agree. When I took my lads we would go and find a chair or something for them to stand on. It was very difficult to keep picking them up as I have a bad back. Lower level layouts could be run with the operators sitting down, or higher level with a bench in front.
Needless to say none of my sons are into model railways, those that got into modelling went with Warhammer or military modelling. Which reminds me. I have a campaign to finish so I can conquer my youngest so...

Apparently they've glued the ballast in place on the repaired dawlish sea wall. That's a lot of PVA, water and washing up liquid.

Easy to say today's railways are dull, but I never used to see 56's,37's, 20's and 33's between Bristol and Paddington in the past!
