  1. So this model does not have the number and roundel on the roof, although how long they lasted on the real loco is anyone's guess. The model is sufficiently accurate for anything up until 110's latest refurb when the vinyls were changed, cab roof went white and bufferbeam went red. Cheers, 60800
  2. The arrival of 91110 bumps the 225 fleet up to six locos, just under 1/5th of the real fleet From left to right, 110, 111, 114 (to be LNER white / oxblood), 118, 119 and 132 Cheers, 60800
  3. I think he may well be! Oh dear. I'll be taking him out to paint the cab interior anyway. Cheers, 60800
  4. 91110 has arrived and I'm pleased to report that the body tooling over bufferbeam has been fixed. We now also have a driver in the cab, but no extra detailing inside. The overall finish of the loco is far superior to 91111. I can't comment on the internals yet as I picked the loco up on my lunch break so will have to investigate further later; Cheers, 60800
  5. The Western approach to the station is now finished, with tracklaying in the tunnel being the next task. From left to right we have the Down Fast, Platform 1, Platform 2 and the Up Fast; As an addition to the layout work, there will also be infrequent 'meet the fleet' posts, starting here with one of my oldest locos. A good portion of my steam locos are ones that have ran mainline in the 21st century, so of course I have to have one of the most travelled locos from this era which is 60009. As well as being my second favourite loco (guess my first 😅) it's also one of only two Steam locos I have been fortunate enough to have driven in 1:1 scale. The model is the Hornby Commonwealth collection version and has over the years been updated, with additions such as red backed nameplates, the Haymarket wording on the nose and the cables required for running on the National Network. It's tender was swapped a few years ago for the correct type, the original now sitting behind my 60017. When I eventually get around to fitting my mainline steam fleet with DCC sound, this one will be the first. Cheers, 60800
  6. I'm really tempted by 68619 purely as a shedmate for this; I think that Station pilots / shed pets as a theme would sell really well. Cheers, 60800
  7. I'm hoping they have fixed the body tooling which is currently short above the bufferbeam. I'm in the process of modifying my five - 91119 is already done, 91132 is in the process of having it done, then 91118 and 91114 will be done. 91111 will be left well alone as the portion of bodywork below the headlights is black anyway. Cheers, 60800
  8. I initially forgot that it was an NRM loco, but then remembered seeing it sat around the turntable at York when I was younger. Very pretty little loco and I really do hope we get a NCIM version. Cheers, 60800 Edit: I always used to think it was called Enfield town on those early visits, before I learned what destination boards were
  9. Fantastic choice! For those more in the know, is there anything detail wise stopping me from renumbering GER 84 to the preserved example? Cheers, 60800
  10. I'd buy more 37's (and have 37714 on order) because they are singular locos. HST's have to be full matching sets for me, so if I wanted another VTEC or LNER pair of PC's I would pick up another Hornby pack. I would only not do this if the colour matching was spot on between new PC's and existing stock. Cheers, 60800
  11. I'm in the same boat. I have 14 PC's from the current tooling and I'm only really looking at an East Midlands HST before I'm 'done' with my fleet. What would convince me to buy an Accurascale (or RevolutioN) HST would be if the NMT was modelled properly and in full, as bar a Cross Country set, that is the only gap in my fleet. Cheers
  12. I'm gonna keep guessing Gresley A4 on every announcement until Accurascale make one 😄 There's so many areas than can be improved upon over the Hornby model. As this announcement does look to be kettle territory I'm going to stick my oar in with an 8F, WC / BB / MN or Black 5. The first four are sorely overdue new models and I reckon Accurascale would beat the red box Black 5 to our layouts if it's far enough along. Cheers, 60800
  13. The payment for my pre-order for 91110 has just fired through, so it should be arriving soon. I'm not sure about 91101 though as I cancelled my order for that one when the real thing was repainted. Cheers, 60800
  14. Ooh 31018 as an NRM exclusive! I note delivery says 2024 on the locomotion models website - Is this correct? Cheers, 60800
  15. My first layout topic on RMweb, Nottingham Central is a pre-converted loft based layout built with worry free running in mind. It is roughly 19ft x 9ft, around the outer edge of the room. There are some operational compromises built in, such as the need for the lines to run behind my workbench / PC and tighter radii at the main junction end to accommodate the S&C. The station on my layout is Nottingham Central - loosely based off Nottingham Midland, but with GCR buildings. It will have one central platform, with the fast lines running outside of these. This station constitutes the main run down one side of the room and the depot (based loosely on Neville Hill) will run down the other. The whole line will be double track with OHLE with hopefully a minimum radius of 21 inch, though most inside curves will be 24 inch radius at minimum All wiring is to be at board level and hidden inside cable trunking. All turnouts will be hand operated as DCC point operation is just not my cup of tea. Power is to be DCC throughout, using the Gaugemaster system. I'll focus on the station to start and then as I begin to tidy up the wiring I'll bring the depot entrance and the depot itself into focus. This is where I'm currently at with the station, showing the Western and then Eastern approaches. The not-yet-laid Down fast runs into the only route handed turnout on the layout, but as this turnout is trailing and the radius carries on after the switch fronts I am not too worried. This was necessary to allow the Down platform (1) to be long enough to accommodate a 2+5 HST or 225 set. The two HST sets shown here sit in the platform roads; This third photo from earlier on in the tracklaying shows the approximate locations of the station buildings as viewed from the Western end. I will be building a station canopy to run the entire length of the buildings. I'm currently modifying the station steps building to incorporate a lift and new bridge stantions as I will not be using the pre-cast Bachmann bridge sections; Cheers, 60800
  16. Is 37714 still on track for Summer '23 or will it now be a bit later? Cheers, 60800
  17. Thanks Alan, I was looking at getting 5036 and renaming/renumbering to Hardwicke as Rails currently have it on offer, but since she stayed black I'll pick up the NRM one at some point. Cheers, 60800
  18. Did Hardwicke ever wear LMS crimson lake? I'm struggling to find photos of the class in anything other than black when wearing LMS numbers. Cheers, 60800
  19. Halfords primer wouldn't be glossy enough ;) Besides, Accurascale would do a much better job of the overall livery than I would. When you look closely there's quite a few intricate paint / marking details on it. Cheers, 60800
  20. Can we have this one as an exclusive? Pleeeeease? It's the only time I've deliberately gone out to photograph a 66 (or two) and the livery suited 747 so well; Edit: 7th June 2014 for anyone who's curious :) Cheers, 60800
  21. Didn't they say multiple announcements throughout the day? So far it's nearly 2pm and we've only had this. I state 'only' as the wording suggested something entirely new, not just four conflats and yet another Scotsman (with an inaccurate image on the front of the box). Also rather disappointed to see that the exclusive 60800 is now being flogged for £180. Bad news for me who paid the full £230, but good news for those who couldn't justify the original price tag. Cheers, 60800 Edit: a further annoyance of mine is that production slots for things like the conflats and pre-grouping Scotsman coach could have been used for more worthwhile things, like say an LNER IC 225, or locos and stock actually related to Scotsman and the train from which it's name came.
  22. Thanks, might just be able to slip these ones in then :) Cheers, 60800
  23. Fantastic announcement - is there an estimated delivery date for these additional two please? Cheers, 60800
  24. There's a few model W1s floating around with different names, including mine; I've ordered the LNER green B17/5 for the same reason I bought the above W1 - It's a streamliner that is almost but not quite an A4. Peculiarly, I haven't ordered a streamlined P2, but I think this is in part due to already owning 2001 in original form. Cheers 60800
  25. These were commissioned by me for a purple 43274 and LSL 43049 and fortunately Chandler decided to make them into a kit for his website. The above power cars are not mine, but as well as being made for retrofitting older power cars, these have also being done in anticipation of Hornby not retooling the lights for the new East Midlands power cars and as such the light clusters fitted to my pair are wired up for 21 pin using an aftermarket harness - the harness would not be necessary for the new release power cars. Cheers, 60800
