  1. Found these on Flickr for weathering reference... The model would look nice with a crewe yellow stripe and some weathering
  2. Collected mine yesterday... Wow what a model! With the peckett and now this Hornby are on a roll! I unfortunatly don’t have a layout at the minute so it’s straight into the cabinet on the wall sat above an original totem sign for Derby Midland, compared to this I’d say the colour is spot on! Well done Hornby!
  3. Yes I did all round the wheels, motion and chassis. Great bit about powder is you can just take it back off again with a cotton bud on the contact parts of the wheel before spraying the model with varnish. I just sit the model on a flat surface when spraying in varnish, that way the varnish doesn't go on the contact part of the wheels Hope this helps
  4. Yes certainly!I've only used two colours on these two, just rust & black. Using two smallish paint brushs I went over the whole loco with the rust working it into all the corners but not using to much. Then to finish I went over with the black just asif I was weathering with paints. After that I took some tissue paper and gently removed most of it off the coloured tank and cabs etc to give a dirty but cleaned finish Finished off with a quick spray all over of humbrol Matt varnish to lock it all in place!
  5. Just weathered my two pecketts, my first time using weathering powders...I don't think they look to bad!
  6. Your right, I guess my driver decided that he didn't have time to drop with a neighbour so thought it was faster and easier to just throw it over the gate! £80 worth of loco left out in the elements all day. Ah well... I'm getting some money back in compensation from them and it's all fixed now so I suppose all isn't so bad!
  7. Arrived home today to my second peckett... thrown over the gate by My Hermes! Box damaged and loco damaged, Thanks guys!
  8. Well done Bachmann! I'd say that's one of the best ranges yet, plenty of reliveries for steam and modern, I don't model the modern era but it's great to see them doing some West coast diesels as many have asked for these over the years. The final 66 is also a good choice along with Mels 37 and the Vulcan 37 will definitely be a pack I'll be buying! Love the Vulcan. The midland 1p will be a nice addition too, maybe a push-pull set next year to go with this and the newly tooled ivatt tank Safe to say this year I will be skint! :/
  9. Time to make a start on the peckett! It's such a lovely model! I've not based the conversion on any locomotive, just a typical industrial loco for use on a small industrial layout that I've not yet built. As can be seen in the photos I have: Removed the back of the cab Removed the company name off the tank Painted all the handrails black And painted the buffer beams yellow and finished them off with wasp stripes Still much to do including detailing further with crew and lamps and also weathering to finish, I've still got the msc green one to do too Adam
  10. Can't wait for these, better get the pre-order in!... I'm thinking 9, sorry wallet!!
  11. Just pre-ordered a princess coronation and a Fowler tender 8f
