used to live in an old cavernous vicarage which became heavily infested with spiders every September. Took the advice of a local and placed a single conker in the corners of each room, and, hey presto! No spiders

The one I least expected seems to be the most widely popular one. When it's cleared out and layout work begins I'll put confers in there and see what happens. Thanks for all your help everyone. You can do it to the smaller ones in 4mm as well 3 link. My grange recently caught one which didn't climb it's web quick enough and was stuck to the smoke box for several trips around a mates layout, it got off rather dazed.

I still say burn them with fire. If the whole shed goes up then you've definately got them all.

I'm going to have to remember the conker trick, not heard that before. It might save me a fortune in sheds.

  3. RMWeb could be in a great plot for a film, think about this: A disgruntled ex forum member starts bumping us all off one by one and its up to Andy Y to stop him?

Personally, I'm more worried by some people's choice of reading matter - shades of "keep your friends close - and your enemies closer".

It could be Mario Puzo (as in "The Godfather"), or Niccolo Machiavelli ("Il Principe" / "The Prince") - either sounds almost as scary as certain ex-members.

Thanks everyone. SHMD references are always welcome, getting you some of the food could be tricky though, it's a shame you can't pile things into an open wagon and stick it on the back of a freight going in roughly the right direction anymore, oh well another time. Now you mention it Steve I think I have seen some of his posts, ill look out for a few more.

And loads of people got in the way, one person came and stood directly in front of me as I took a photo and all that shot showed was the back of his tweed jacket no apology or anything. I had to move around him to take the shot. Big SLR Camera not hard to miss!

Don't like the sound of a badly damaged alloy or "Learning to repair it" . You'll have to get the tyre off for a start and that won't be easy. I would get a replacement from a breaker or eBay

    3. WD0-6-0

      WD0-6-0

It's bad cosmetic damage, actual real bad damage and I would replace the wheel. As for learning to repair it, I'm a marine engineer by trade so have the skills to do a lot of things and if I can't I know lots of people who can

    4. WD0-6-0

      WD0-6-0

Also, tyres off already, needs a new tyre anyway because the current one is nearing the end of its useable life so taking the opportunity to put a fresh one on

  16. Making a sign, a neighbours daughter insists on parking in front of my garage and preventing turning around when coming into or out of my parking space meaning you have to reverse onto a busy main road. Not a problem at this precise moment but in a few short weeks my brother and I will need both the space and the garage everyday.

My neighbour leaves a wheely bin in the street to denote where his car should be allowed to return to. Just waiting for the explosion from him if people were to park their vehicles up close on both sides of it, or just move it onto the pavement/ his path. Would do it myself, but he does take in railway themed parcels for me quite often...

    3. WD0-6-0

      WD0-6-0

Some interesting suggestions, I'm hoping the sign will be clear enough. Fortunately given what time I will be leaving for work, if I can't get my car out she won't want to be woken that early very often! (And if she persists it'll get an hour earlier each morning

Having a similar problem at the moment with my late grandads house. People know the driveway/gates aren't in use so are parking in front. I parked on the drive today as we were taking his Morris to the car show at Crich. Came to find my car blocked in and having to go knock on doors!
