I had a ‘significant health issue’*about 15 years ago and was advised to ‘take a back seat’ which I have done. While on holiday in New Zealand late last year I spent time thinking about an exit strategy but didn’t make any firm decisions. You may recall within a couple of days of arriving home there was a break in at work. (which I’m still dealing with the aftermath of) On New Year’s Day I had a lightbulb moment and realized that next year I’d be sixty and perhaps that might be a good time to quit and had a conversation with the financial bods and the plan was accepted. Since that meeting I’ve had issues with rodents and drains at work and thought to myself what’s the point in waiting, my health isn’t getting any better and the remuneration from the extra year won’t been of any significance to me. Fortunately an opportunity has arisen which will hopefully help me with my ambition and I’m going for it! *The issue is not quite as dramatic as first described (wheelchair within 2years) but when first diagnosed I was very hasty in sorting things out at work so I could get the most out of the situation. Fortunately I’ve been very lucky but feel that the time has come to put the pestle and mortar down. ***** no ‘heart’ reaction, It’s just my story and I’ve been very lucky and have only posted it to add context. ********* Goodnight

Actually Kirkenes is the port where the ship turns round and heads back but the most northerly port is Honningsvag. Beautiful journey, lucky enough to have made it a few times.

Another week flashes by with sporadic visitors to ER land. Hopefully all are well, especially those not reporting in regularly. Hopefully my circumstances will changing soon and I be able to banish the old pestle mortar to history and finish with the old CPD. Can’t wait but quite a bit of work will be involved and also a bit of horse trading. Goodnight.

I’ll be using Mafen signals on my layouts. They do have an incredible range. Got Swiss and Dutch ones in store for when a layout finally gets built.

Afternoon All, Sat outside the shops at Fox Valley with the dogs while Swmbo does a bit of shopping. Been a bit hit and miss on here so far this year but Ive had/got a bit on my mind at the minute. Recent incidents (some police related) at work have made me think theres more to life than counting beans. Made a decision to cash in my chips whilst i was in the driving seat but that has been short circuited now by a recent conversation at work. From being on the front foot I feel as if I may be playing a defensive game. I see protracted negotiations ahead. Also spending more time (than is good for us) at mils as she broke her ankle last thursday while walking down here to ‘Foxy’. Such is life.

A bit of AI going on here methinks. Like the man with three arms, an ute with four doors!

Making me feel a bit homesick for Switzerland, spent too much time cruising recently. Not been to Switzerland since pre covid. On the way home from the airport I heard on the radio the first Brit with Covid had been diagnosed.

May be going for a walk on the very line today. By the way have you ever visited the location?
