  1. Another member's multigauge demonstration layout. Mostly a way to gather interest without bringing the main layout. Same member's 009 demonstrator. The L&B stock is mine. I've followed this parish's thread to fettle the Taw. She ran the whole eight-hour show with now fuss. Very happy, though I still get leery of Heljan's quality control. Another member's shunting puzzle. Didn't garner too much interest, sadly. He may have been positioned badly, but American shows tend towards a lot more 'hands off' feelings.
  2. I'm back. Lack of blogging is resultant of new phones that my boxes won't detect as drives, & use of a fancy new Canon DSLR that I've been too lazy to pick files from. I have a series of shots from the last show I'll publish in the next few posts, dependent on my file size. Here I have a couple of shots of our new club T Trak layout. All Metcalfe I think for the buildings. Given my somewhat vast 1930's stock collection, I haven't done jack for this layout. Happy we have it, though. When Baltic birch becomes available again, I'll pick up a couple of kits to add to the set. And an obligatory shot of a member's private tram layout. An actual Englishman built it. More of a sceneryman than a stockman. I think all his trams are powered by another gentleman on his behalf.
  3. Squatting is a known aid in traction & acceleration. That's why drag racers first did the elevated front suspensions (Gassers,) then the 70's trend for high, but relatively weak rear springs. I'm curious how throttle operation causes a steam locomotive to 'squat.' Can't imagine it was good for hammer blow. I'm also not suggesting a 'gasser' locomotive, but I'm curious how the T9's fared in comparison to other similarly dimensioned 'Americans' with more conventional, lower-mounted boilers.
  4. 1/1 scale kit. I don't see any flash, either.
  5. I don't think that's what they mean by 'fish-belly rail.'
  6. Funny you should be completing this now. @Rustonhas been milling one up of late, too.
  7. I would've thought brass a bit hard to eat...
  8. Only a hanging gauge at the door? I wouldn't have thought of a gauge there.
  9. I'd wager 11". Seems standard for N scale models.
  10. Interesting solution to multiple running. I suppose it beats the old solution of 'just run them together and hope for the best.'
  11. Could you true wheels at a larger scale more easily? Then run the 'trued' wheels through your pantograph?
  12. Dual controls either requires double the attention from a single driver, or a second driver on the footplate. To many railways, neither is an acceptable practice.
  13. I've seen someone else on here do a coal trader with the Autocraft Morris flatbed.
  14. Lion is Lincoln's Axe at this point. Thrice rebuilt, at least, and likely entirely new now. If the model is accurate to Titfield, we should be kosher. Other colors are a production necessity to recoup the cost of tooling.
  15. Looks very nice. Will the tender bear an NEM pocket?
  16. Appreciate you showing the coverage, very helpful! Maybe use a dot filter of artist's oils for streaking? That's what we're advised to do with military models.
  17. I'm all for Vallejo. I've been using it for a while. Helps when posting here, too, as Vallejo seems pretty universally available.
  18. A very gross approximation, but the 9F was effectively a WD 2-10-0 built with less urgency. The WD locos are austerity for a reason. Riddles had a major hand in both designs. He just had better resources for the 9F.
  19. Imagine what Chapleon could have managed with the 9F. Supposedly, if we take his boasts about his ideas on the Big Boy.
  20. That looks a lot easier than the two-part product from Deluxe Materials I've used before. How thickly does it go on? Citadel is hardly the cheapest make out there.
  21. As has been breached before, loop lengths & rolling stock design precluded much impetuous for larger locos than we received. Even Continental practice would be an improvement on rolling stock. Volume was there for it, too. Lots of customers who didn't want to upgrade though. Loops would be harder to approach. Probably exaggerating, but y'all don't seem to have enough space to extend your loops by all too much.
