  1. G'Day Folks Today I'll go for Southend Victoria, only 4 platforms, It's been a 'Suburban' station for many years, but it still gets very busy in summer. manna

G'day Folks I've opened a can of worms by building a loco because Edgware is now a Junction !! Up and Down trains to/from St Albans & London Colney, cannot now stop to pick up or set down passenger, Major problem. Now the only way I see on how to fix this is to build another station. This is what I'm now doing, it's only going to be short and quite narrow, and probably like Mill Hill made of wood. (see pics) Now as for a name, I've thought of a couple, Edgware Halt, High Street, ( as it's only a stones throw away) I've discounted 'Edgware Road' as that would only create confusion with my plastic people, Any suggestions ???????? manna
  3. G'Day Folks I'm going for Llundudno,? sure it has a fair few platforms, been the a couple of times, Scarborough, used to work trains to and from there, bit old hat. manna
  4. G'Day Folks Bit harder, this one, so many city destinations are through station, I did think of Bradford Interchange , but Hull Paragon piped it at the post. manna

G'Day Folks All ways a sense of satisfaction when you join it all up. manna
  6. G'Day Folks I can remember arriving at Kings Cross on a Quad Art, N2 hauled, at York Road, then watching Gresley Pacific's being turned in the loco, then later being able to work there, so Kings Cross for me. manna
  7. G'day Folks You want to hear what we are telling the Chinese about our deadly snakes/spiders/sharks/octopus/dingo's, seems to be working, they haven't invaded yet .................. manna
  8. G'Day Folks I'll go with a C12 Atlantic tank and a Push Pull coach. manna
  9. G'Day Folks You seem to have a 'Bagfull' of Gladstones. manna
  10. G'Day Folks Had a couple of busy days, the J4 taking center stage, the smokebox has been shortened, and a new smokebox door made from a Hornby product, another dome has been loosely fitted and the cab, boiler and running plate have all been glued together. Still the firebox and rear splashers to be done. Like the look of these old 0-6-0's. manna
  11. G'Day Folks Nothing wrong in grabbing ideas from everywhere, if nothing else, you know it works. Good luck. manna

G'Day Folks A couple of pics from around the layout, first up a G1 hauls a single Fish van and brake back to Ashburton Grove. Second a Short train of coal empties, hauled by J3 4100. Third. Sentinal, 'Rising Sun' departs for Finchley. Lastly, Gresleys 02 stands with an Ivatt Atlantic. manna

G'Day Folks Engine movements a Hornsey wasn't that demanding, be lucky if you moved 10 loco's a shift, so it gave me plenty of time to wander around and poke about. The sand drying building was still there as was the old GNR coal stage, bit I think the coal wagon ramp had been demolished manna

G'Day Folks That's a shame, the last time I was there (45 + years ago), still used for stabling and fueling diesel loco's, even booked on engine movements there a couple of times (1971/2). manna
  15. G'Day Folks Love that van/brake. manna
  16. G'Day Folks Very nice, but will you be producing another staple loco of the area a ......J1, that'll be a challenge ????? manna

G'Day Folks Glad to hear that a least one survives. I do remember one particular day, I was in the booking hall at Hornsey, keeping out of the wind and rain, lots of glass to see the trains, and an Express (Down train) went under the booking hall then loads of smoke came up through the floor, just something that sticks in your mind, as a 10/12 year old, it was quite surreal. manna

G'Day Folks Remember those GN booking halls very well, big hollow buildings, the smell of coal smoke, the feel of worn Oregon pine floorboards under your feet, the smoky dull glass windows, but the ticket office light and comforting in the gloom, with clean glass and brass, and green and cream paint. Are there any left, Harringay, Hornsey and New Southgate, were my old stamping grounds as a kid, are there any left (Hadley Wood ) !!!! or has that been replaced with a 'Bus shelter' manna

G'Day Folks A few more pics of the loco area. manna
  20. G'Day Folks Part way through the cab build, this was state of play yesterday, a bit more has been done today, but no pics yet. This loco was a very early Ivatt build had has a small cab roof, pity those poor B*****s in the rain. manna

G'Day Folks The snow plough started off as a GN tender, but I fitted the wrong sized wheels on it, so I made it into a snow plough, the back half is a Hornby van, the 'pointy' bit is scratchbuilt, only took 24 hours.........maybe one day it'll get a rebuild. manna
