  1. G'day Folks First update for 2019, and .......... still no progress on the B1, C1,and P1, But, progress on the Tender drives, ( to BL00DY hot to do much, even with Air Con), the axle boxes, again have been ground off, new sides and axle boxes fitted, basic body shell made, just a case of the top being fitted to the, Err top, to cover the motor, then it's time for the flare's. manna
  2. G'day Folks My, you have been busy, look good to. manna
  3. G'Day Folks If you believe the TV News, today in Port Augusta, it broke the +50c barrier, (only 200k's from where I live) the pictures show a digital temp display in the town center showing 52c, although the 'Official temp was something like 48.3c. It was well over the 40c here in Booborowie, These temperature's scare me more than any, snake, spider or even Croc. An, just to round everything off, I had a flat tyre, so had to change a wheel, I threw it in the boot of our other car and took it to be fixed, the guys at the tyre dealer had misters by their fans to keep it a bit cooler. Tyre now back on the car, but every bit of metal is red hot, I used leather gloves. manna
  4. G'Day Folks Mmmmmmmmm manna
  5. G'day Folks I live almost on Goyder's line (It's the Name of our Council) Booborowie is well know for wheat and sheep, but only 35k's away it's all salt bush, you can't grow crops, OK for sheep grazing and Mulga trees but little else. How about this one.
  6. G'Day Folks Same here, my spelling is as good as yours, innit. manna
  7. G'Day Folks I do not deny, climate change, the last 3 years in oz has been the hottest on record, but when you get on to subject of water shortages, we have a tendency to blame, the weather, when it not always at fault, The river Darling is a case in point, Travelling through the Darling basin over the last couple of years, has not made me an expert, but has opened my eyes. In Northern NSW, Cotton is a very popular crop for Farmers, but Cotton, use's a lot of water, not a good choice for a rain starved country, the Darling is a artery through this area, the Cotton farmer's with the help of Government are creating Huge lagoons/reservoirs, covering 100's of acres, when the water level is high in the Darling water is pumped out of the river into these reservoirs, for use on the cotton, Here is the problem, the Darling is Deep and narrow, it's shaded by trees, so evaporation is minimal, these reservoirs as a couple of kilometers long and a couple of kilometers wide and are shallow, with no shade, Evaporation rates are 'High' which is a total waste of water, as the reservoirs start to dry out, more water is pumped out of the river. Now it's at the point where the river has been pump almost dry. manna
  8. G'day Folks Probably a few more- Auditorium Moratorium Mum ?? manna
  9. G'Day Folks Time to eat 'Humble pie' First apologies to Andy Y. for accusing him of deleting a post, I did write a post at approx 9.15 (oz time) 10.45 UK time, in a bit of a hurry, if Andy Y didn't delete it, and I take his word, then it was me that didn't post it properly. For that I am sorry. As I said I was in a bit of a rush, so didn't read everything completely, so we now have a 0-6-0 Peckett, a nice little 0-4-0 diesel, which are nice 'New' models. The Princess, although new, has been available, for many years same again with the Large Prairie, so I don't classify them as 'New' even though they are, remodeled, models.! New coaches, sorry, but if they aren't teak, they don't mean much. Diesels, saw many of the older type diesel, I do model a few, indeed earned a living on them, but for anything after a class 60, I've only ever seen pictures of them. Maybe I was over hyped, with 'There's something for everyone, this year' Me thinking, Oh good, one loco from each old Company..then zilch. Interesting for a lot of people, but not me. manna
  10. G'Day Folks That was a disappointment, I was expecting after the ' New and exciting' to have something 'New and Exciting, most of it is Same O- Same O, another Princess another GWR tank engine, and a 100 repaints, Ah well I'll save some money. manna
  11. G'Day Folks I think the cat would rather be at home..Asleep. manna
  12. G'Day Folks Now that Christmas and the New Year are behind us, are you feeling a little..........
  13. G'Day Folks I had a good one last year, we stayed the night in Merrawa, left there and had a good run to Dunedo, just after we left the town, we caught a truck up, small farm truck with a fair sized 4 wheel trailer, I followed him all the way to Dubbo, absolutely no chance to overtake, he wandered all over the road, fast going down hills and slow up them, when ever there was a straight bit of road a car/4 WD was coming, there are plenty of bends on that road, so the 60 or so Kms, really dragged by, was through Dubbo in 10 minutes, and out the other side, we caught up to a Toyota 75 series, with a 1 ton bag on a pallet in the back, again wandering all over the road, twist's turns and 'NO' overtaking possibility's he did pull off on to a farm track, I upped my speed to around the 100 mark from 75/80 kms, had a good run for about 30 mins, when the wind picked up, we had Dust storms, muddy rain, and gust's of over 100kph, I then had to slow down on the grounds of safety, pulled into Nyngan, 300 k's from Merrawa, 5 hours of torment. Worst driving trip I've had in many a year. manna
  14. G'Day Folks If I may. At Kings Cross, if we were keep in the Milk Dock to long we would shut our engines down, (never had one not start) but starting a class 31 at 4 am, made more noise than an idling one. In winter, we had a 4.10 am start, to work trains from Welwyn GC or Hertford North, (to Moorgate) we would ride out to Finsbury Pk, walk out to the Depot, see the depot Foreman, who would give us our loco no. to work. we would then walk out to 'Lines' of loco's standing in the freezing cold, frost, snow or sleet, climb aboard, and start up, Never once did we have a class 31 that wouldn't start, I'm not saying that it didn't happen, but not to me, ( Some of those Class 31's had been sitting there since Friday night, if it was a Monday morning) then it was a nice little light engine ride to either W-G-C or H-North, where we would sit for a couple of hours, steam heating the train. manna
  15. G'day Folks I tow a Caravan, so I usually get caught behind the slow drivers, 85-90 kph, until they hit that sign, up to 100-105 kph, by the time I've caught the Bu**ers up, the overtaking lane finishes, and the're back to 85-90kph. Agggggghhhhh!!!! manna
  16. G'Day Folks Don't forget Peterborough's fuel point, just a nice little glass shed, (same as Kings Cross) manna
