  1. Does their UK website still exist? Struggling to find it... everything points to Rails of Sheffield?
  2. Think it's just come out! Can't find a link to it but it's in my inbox!!
  3. After googling the word victimised, I disagree, you defiantly did that. It's not really a polite thing to do to anyone, quoting a post with reply in a negative way for structural purposes without commenting on why. If people are to learn - they need to know, and I understand now. So thank you very much for that expansion (and that is serious/non-sarcastic).
  4. I was trying being brief as I didn't see it high on the scale of importance. I do have Autism and my communication skills aren't the best. If you could please provide example on how would have been better to ask, I'd appreciate the lesson. The other way I could think of phrasing it was: "Why is there no class 172 option?", However I thought that sounds a bit more snappy/angry than just saying "No Class 172?!" which sounds more of just expressing a slight grudge. Being a forum rather than an email/letter too much surrounding content seems excessive: "Hi, I was just wondering why there is no class 172 option? Thanks, <name>." If I was to just extract that question out, it would still seem bad as suggests a lot of selfishness given the prominence of "I" unnecessarily and I'm not sure how else I would frame the question. Personally I think a PM regarding language use would have been more appropriate than public shaming in regards to this.
  5. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/323922332441 Includes the middle power car.... how generous!
  6. It's rather like how many of the cheaper Train Sets have been packaged for years (e.g. Blue Rapier). It makes more sense for train sets, where collectors are less likely to be the buyer, to prioritise easily recyclable packaging. However, in this case, it's a special livery which from my viewpoint seems a rather appealing train to target at collectors where one might expect a more premium packaging style, though having said that, it isn't a premium model detail wise anyway. I don't like how hard it can be to take locomotives out of polystyrene, however in the blue rapier I don't think the train is packaged tightly enough. Was this easy to remove from the box and, in your opinion, secure enough for transport? In my opinion, the 156 just needs putting into the railroad range and then the box really doesn't matter at all! Not aware of any other non train sets using this style, however the Eurostar is coming up for re-release in a few months time, and that too has been using polystyrene packaging. Will be interesting to see if that takes the same approach as here or not.
  7. The same New Ray who made RailRoadN?
  8. Has anyone received their BR ones yet? https://realtrackmodels.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=208 "Please note Pre-Orders are being shipped as we speak, please dont chase as this all takes time. Thank you. Charlie"
  9. Very sad to hear of this, go there quite regularly, but to be honest never end up buying too much because the exact thing I want ins't stocked despite prices being very competitive with certain online retailers. Often found interesting books which I would have never of otherwise known about which I'd end up getting. I suppose the Bargain Hunters thread will stop being accused of being too Birmingham centric from now on! Well I think Birmingham/The West Midlands is becoming more and more so a modelling supplies desert! Lost the Model Zone, the WH Smiths Model Zone, the Wonderful World of Trains & Planes Gift Shop, Bobs Models, Antics Coventry, Modellers Mecca and Southern Railways over the past few years. Good job A Oakes has other departments to keep them running!! I know Tennents Trains are still around - are there any others? Staggering. How?! That reaction, on that scale, makes no sense....
  10. "Intercity Express", not even Southeastern?! whyyyyyy? Do fictional liveries really sell that much better to kids? When I was a (10 year old) kid, after getting my first train set, all I desired was a model in the livery of my local trains... Still think it's quite steep at £90. P.S. Surely a downgrade from going between many cities "intercity", to now, I assume, circulating the one "city"!!
  11. Depends on the firmware version, if it's the latest it supports up to 28 now. Edit to add: Mine just came, firmware is version 1.5. Manual says it supports up to 28 functions so should be good. Annoyingly the function activation is different from older versions which will make it a bit harder for me as I use them as slave units to my elite and they'll have different controls now! Edited to further add: Woah, they sold out quickly. Guess I won't be getting a 2nd then!
  12. Only 34 in stock... Can't decide weather to get a 2nd or not.... decisions decisions at that price. Ordered one yesterday, should come tomorrow They also have some absolute bargains on the cables too! Only £2.50 https://www.hattons.co.uk/20675/hornby_r8237_rj12_connection_socket/stockdetail.aspx https://www.hattons.co.uk/20674/hornby_r8236_rj12_leads/stockdetail.aspx
  13. Gumtree is owned by eBay sooo.... https://www.gumtree.com/p/hobbies-collectibles/Hornby-train-set/1346826573 Reasonable price, but the description is kinda sad: "Only used once as my son found it too difficult to control". Not too sure how it could be made easier to control?
  14. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dapol-OO-GAUGE-4D-009-005-CLASS-121-SILVERLINK-55027-DIESEL-LOCOMOTIVE-U21/133101670803?hash=item1efd7a5193:g:mMgAAOSwW95dG0tb £95 for a blown motor... if history repeats it wont be much more than that in other popular online model shop's sales...
  15. The way in which you pointed it out perhaps seems a bit rude (especially with the further reply including "sorry but") I don't see why you are making an assumption everyone gets Hattons, Rails of Sheffield & Kernow Model Centre's emails. [Personally I only get Hattons, and have been wanting Rail's for about 2 years, but can't work out how to sign up for them!! - If someone could inform me I would grateful!] I suspect we both share the position of preferring only new bargains to be posted, which makes sense, but it is easy to ignore what is personally irrelevant [as primarily an MU enthusiast, I am very use to doing this already!]
  16. Still devastated that one can no longer visit the miners tramway. Best childhood memories there. Don't think I'll ever recover.
  17. Hi, Hope this is an easy question for someone. Does anyone know what type of wire this is? It cam pre-attached to some micro LEDs I purchased, and would really like to buy some on it's own. Have spent ages searchig eBay but can't find anything like it.
  18. Was it one which use to have a model zone?
  19. https://www.hattons.co.uk/409793/dapol_4d_009_005_class_121_single_car_dmu_bubblecar_121027_bletchley_tmd_in_silverlink_purple_and/stockdetail.aspx Were the wipers really purple??
  20. Unless it's just a clever marketing tactic to get us thinking about DJM! Do you think any of the modelling magazines will be publishing an article from this press release?
  21. Can you copyright models of something which isn't your original design in the first place?
  22. Hate to ask too much; are there any signs of the provincial ones yet, or is it still unknown?
