Okehampton Railway re-opening
bgman replied to Coombe Barton's topic in UK Prototype Discussions (not questions!)
For those of us who wanted to use the Summer Service from Yeoford to Okehampton on a Sunday ( if it ran- mainly due to staffing ) it was a case of catching the earliest train into Crediton. There was quite a wait there and also the return journey was a similar situation. Sadly not worth the effort unless someone drove into Crediton to catch the service. -
You're quite correct, I stepped out of shot just as the photograph was taken !

Another Grand Day Out... Quick update for today, having received an Intentio laser kit yesterday I gave it a once over with some "Halfuds" Primer and a quick mortar wash, there will be several stages for the brickwork finish which I hope will do the kit some justice. It is my first Intentio model and I must say, despite there being no instructions it is pretty obvious where every part belongs. I am particularly impressed with the corner laser cutting where it joins the adjacent part. Having left it to thoroughly dry until I attack it tomorrow I took advantage of the fine weather and had a ride out to Topsham prior to meeting my daughter and grandson from school, good to make use of the warm days before it gets colder. I thought he lived in Newton Abbot ? He now has a BIG brother to play with too......... And NO I won't be looking for any barbed wire fences to jump over à la Steve McQueen ! Oh ! And no queuing at petrol pumps or panicking like a headless chicken as to whether I can fill her up either. G

TOO MANY PANNIERS ? No never !!! A new loco has been taken into stock today for the "other project" and I have added a sound decoder to her. Here she is with an initial trial, the sound will need some minor tweaking but at least there is some noise ! G

Thank you Rob, and here she is with a larger speaker installed about half an hour ago. It will need a little bit of tweaking but at least there's some noise now ! I will pluck up the courage to waft some dirt over it at some point. p.s. despite the buildings in the background she's not on loan to the Italian Railways !!! G

West Kirby Town: narrow gauge is coming to town.

Rod, As you've used the Greenwood kits previously I think it will give you the confidence to get these 2 crossings built to a good standard. -
Just make sure all your ( bike ) nuts are tightened up !

Okehampton Railway re-opening

Up until 2 1/2 years ago I lived there and despite lots of rumours over 30 years there has never been any specific plans to reopen that side of the line. I could be proven wrong ? -
Following on from the excellent EM Detail book this channel may be in general interest to those who enjoy detailing / weathering techniques, although it's mainly American based this chap certainly gets to show off some useful work. Worth scrolling through his videos if you have some time to spare. https://www.youtube.com/c/JasonJensenTrains/videos

Since building in 7mm I have tended to replace some of the various parts from kits with Laurie's castings which I highly recommend together with his prompt service.
