  1. And here's me thinking this thread was about sheep and modelling ! Who started this whole clothing thing off anyway ?
  2. Totally agree with using Premier excellent products and Billy is very obliging too.
  3. Hasn't it just ! I'm glad there is some normality returning to your life and modelling, I've been in a similar position myself but started to get back to the workbench.
  4. Good to see you're back on the scene mate, it's a bit too far for me but I hope all goes well, as I am certain it will, and also attract good feedback. ATB G
  5. Have you or anyone you know had an accident ? Seems the station gets quite full of potential claims towards the end ! Just out of interest does anyone recognise the location ?
  6. You should get some excellent shots of the layout from the air with the biplane ! Nice model.

    Little Muddle

With all of those I think it calls for a Little Muddle Open Day a la Didcot etc !
  8. More Faffing with the Bridge ! Attempt number.......erm.....FIVE.....sorry to bore you all again. I mentioned in the last post that I wasn't too happy with the stonework so I spoke to the Vallajo's and we decided to redo the base stone. This moaning I went ahead and gave the joints a bit of a going over too..... I think I'm happier and with some dry brushing etc I think ? it may be getting there. G p.s. the photo was taken without a decent camera just used the iPhone and it doesn't look as dark in reality. p.p.s I've now replaced the original photograph with a better ? one ( more light )
  9. Nowt new there then ! Your friend needs to start saving. He placed his order when they were first announced but as he's move onto BIG BOYS TRAINS I think it might just have a shelf life only !
  10. There are a few vids on that well know site which also show it at the exhibition. At the risk of causing a stampede did you get a "Brent Nod" as to when it may be arriving ? Asking for a friend.
  11. TWO IN TENTS...... or should that be I think it needs to LIGHTEN UP ? Following on from the last session with the bridge I thought it was a little too dark / intense for the stonework I was aiming for therefore, some of Señor Vallejos' finest paints were found and a quick tonal wash has now been applied ( Oh! why can't you just leave stuff alone ? ) I will attempt to give some subtle highlights where I feel necessary and get into that place I enjoy when trying to achieve some sort of realism......whether I get there is a totally different question ! G
  12. This is all Top Shelf stuff !
  13. Ahhh ! That well know song...... Roubaix, Roubaix, Roubaix, Roubaix by the Kaiser Chiefs
  14. I did but goodness knows where it was posted ! Good luck........ Pssst......if I were you I'd get a cup of something and a nice sandwich 'cos it'll take some time I reckon. Or......I could just post a pic for you G
  15. Thank you, hopefully some subtle weathering etc. will eventually sort it out. G
  16. Ah ! Pleye Wood ..... now I get it ! Happy Bidet mate, if I'd have know we could have met under a bridge at midnight and celebrated together ( mine was yesterday ). As I am supposed to be a Libran it seems fit using this ply wood which helps me to have a chip on both shoulders ! Enjoy that extra year...I have
  17. You may be as unpopular as you wish ! I am always open to suggestions, however, it is very much an illusion made by the photographer not being in the correct position. There is a row of capping slabs over the wall which are currently being painted and I hope to provide some emphasis to them too. All part of the ongoing work. G
  18. Hahahaha ! It's a possibility with my sense of humour ! That bridge is among the best I've seen for a long time. Great texture and depth. Lovely style too, rustic yet elegant. We don't really have such bridges here, more's the pity. Thank you Mikkel, I hope you and the family are keeping well ? It was a quiet day overall, awful weather outside and not worth doing much else I decided to re-purpose one of the original bridges I made which never really looked right to me regards its colour. I really appreciate your comments about the texture and depth, when you work away at this modelling lark it is very subjective and one never quite knows what it will turn out like. One of my biggest critics is my daughter who came over last night, just relaxing together and going down memory lane. She made a similar comment to you which pleased me. There will be more to do with the bridge plus the making of baseboards for this proposed "diversion layout" albeit more modern for me. I am awaiting a small sheet of insulation board before track laying commences.......more of which later. G
  19. HIC ! Well having dried out from being plastered ( what else would YOU do on your birthday ? ) I decided to go a bit further and get stoned .....in an artistic ? way....... I think I need to dry out for a while with this and see if I "bottle" it later on All part of the "party atmosphere" on the side project ...... no balloons were hurt during the process but that cake is calling......teehee ! G
  20. May I add that following my "involvement" last week I did not expect to see Laxfield. I remember seeing it only once at an exhibition many moons ago and also in the first edition 0 MRJ which was all very new to me back then. Having arrived early with a fellow modeller and helped with some of the setting up I found myself putting Laxfield together whilst other exhibitors were busy. I was amazed at how easy it was to set up which is testament to its original builder John Watson. There were some very small issues i.e. signal not working too well ( it did budge a little ) and some minor work to make a couple of the points operate again. I believe it was ply and rivet track construction which has faired extremely well considering its age and with only a couple ( that i could see ) needing soldering there is the basis of a revived layout to be had. Lever frames worked very well and positively, so maybe with a careful dusting and revived scenics I think this would be a nice side project. As owners / custodians I believe that the D.R.A.G. Scalefour chaps could do this layout justice once more and without too much effort. I for one am pleased to see that it didn't end up in a skip ! G
  21. An extremely pleasant day thank you to one and all.
