  1. Yh if I was Hornby right about now... I would be nervous that their entire super detail diesels are at threat. 60 - Sufficiently detailed for now, but still a popular model. 67 - I highly doubt anyone is taking that for now 50 - Huge stranger danger that is up for grabs 08 - Despite 2 offerings, neither Bachmann or Hornby have lit markers or really capitalized on Class 09s/10s/11s/12s/13s. And the Class 08s still have a plethora of liveries that could be done (Virgin Shunter please O_O) 43 - Another stranger danger, and would be a ballsy aggressive move for a certain manufacturer to steal what has always been a Hornby partnership model. Hatton's 66, given their long run 2 times and QA issues would likely also attract Bachmann back into that water
  2. I was more looking at the pipework around the bogies. As you said the Accurascale red springs are accurate to the liveried prototype (37402).
  3. Not sure if that has any bearing on todays models or if it should impact our relationship with manufacturers for the reasons that our expectations of models are generational. If the manufacturer was seriously falling short in detail *cough Hornby APT/91/DVT cough* then maybe. But the new AS and Bachmann 37s look so marginal in detail, it really is going to come down to price, sound projects and respective finishes. All Bachmann have done here is respond to the market with as much effort as they can throw at it. If I were Hattons, my super detail Class 66 wouldn't be looking too safe about now.
  4. Closest comparison I can find was the 37/4's Bachmann Accurascale + The Bachmann's are going to look interesting in their sound-deluxe variants with their chromatic glazing + Unique sound project + Unique liveries + Slightly better chain on the Bachmann? + Some really nice cab details - Obvious seam line on the Bachmann nose - Painted bogie detail on the Accurascale is better? - Not too sure on the cab rails on the Bachmann? Same with the climb-up plates - No snow-plough mention on the Bachmanns? (Yes 37430 didn't have them...)
  5. I'm not even surprised. I did say that Bachmann would not look too kindly on Accurascale taking the Deltic and the 37 :P Now where in the world is this type of competition for the Electrostars? :/
  6. My goodness. Initially I thought it was a generator... but then I saw the loose roof tiling. Difficult to find any repeating patterns either, so to have some of it hand-placed/sculpted is pretty amazing! Can't wait to see the full print :D
  7. Only catch is... Hornby produced alot of those Pullmans under (what was supposed to be) VSOE era... which I believe was 1982 onwards. This includes stock under R1073 or the extension R4254. And then further did the Belmond Type K cars (Ione, Lucille and Zena). So it feels like Hornby hallucinated twice and decided to stick with their current umber.
  8. These are looking absolutely fantastic! How'd you do the brickwork in 3D?
  9. I keep seeing peope cite Amazon as competition... but (at least in the UK), the Amazon Hornby offerings are rather dreadful.
  10. You know, I've been trying to collect the Hornby super-detailed Pullmans for the VSOE/Belmond Pullman consists. (For those that don't, it appears to consist of Audrey, Cygnus, Gwen, Ibis, Ione, Lucille, Minerva, Perseus, Phoenix, Vera, Zena.) As nice as they are, they are pretty wrong and incomplete. Most of the umber samples are much brighter than Hornbys, different buffer markings, darker wheel colourings (some with white lining). I can't find any recorded history of Hornby producing superdetailed Gwen, Phoenix or Vera. In addition, the Belmond additional support coaches don't seem to have been produced (or in some cases, even tooled). Baggage Car No.11 /99545/35466 - Mk1 BSK - Brake Second Corridor 92167/6313 - Mk1 BG -Brake Gangwayed Generator Van 9502 - Mk2 BSO - Brake Standard Open So for one of the most luxurious trains, it's odd that it's never been fully realized in OO.
  11. I consider the EFE rail 1938 stock as a pricing model... which could be around £280 unmotorised (£70 per car) and £350 motorized (+£70) (current tooling). Electronic engineering would be more straightforward, and less tooling variations... with potential to market as a highly modular unit. That's just wild speculation on my part, and does not reflect rising costs of material, shipping, admin etc.
  12. It's actually part of a ritual to try and manifest some more London underground RTR models
  13. Going through the DCC process myself, it's honestly not too bad. Here I'm using the Illuminated models prefab replacement light unit,... but there is still some physical hacking at plastic housings involved. But I do think new re-tooled versions would massively benefit todays market (especially considering the Class 222 was never produced, and we now have new operators and/or liveries since the original inception of the Bachmann model). It's also puzzling why electrostars were never produced in model formed, as one of the most modular and "extendable" EMUs you could possibly get. If the average price for a carriage was around £70, you could make a decent 3-car set for £210-£250
  14. No EMUs mean I can breath a sigh of relieve as I can focus on my next acquisition objective... the 92. But the 89 does indeed look splendid, and wishing Accurascale/Rails the best of luck! Now back to wildly speculating. :D
  15. There's still no pre-announcement post or a you tube premiere link (if there is one)?
  16. There's alot of those "what-ifs". Like a Cavalex Class 91 v Hornby. Tbh I don't even mind the new Hornby HST, just haven't picked one up because a) Virgin WCML New(ish) HST is harder to come across b) Price I'm more curious on the long-term viability of their Class 800s. Even for a nicely done new-tool... £500 for a 5-coach set isn't going to win many people over.
  17. So is this announcement similar to previous via Hornby Magazine YouTube and website links?
  18. Considering I've literally chipped my voyager yesterday and ordered a lighting kit, I might go nuts if Accurascale announced one xD
  19. In other unrelated news, local weather forecast at Margate set to be 40 degrees!
  20. Don't threaten people with a good time :P
  21. Yh most likely. Even for something as unique as TTTE, still an interesting discussion on what Model Manufacturers have to go through and decisions made.
  22. Excellent (Well not excellent in the grand scheme of things). Thanks for the clear-up!
