  1. I'm sure people will have many points of critique of Hornby and their past decisions. And you would be perfectly entitled to them... Though might I suggest another forum thread where these viewpoints are examined indepth? These things become runaway topics quite easily.
  2. Que eyebrow raising. Haha. All fun speculation for now...
  3. Nice spot on the catalogue listing! Although to me, that blur almost looks class 55ish. Could also just be a placeholder. I've seen a proto-hst mentioned a few times... and I have to say is one of the more interesting predictions. Shame the Rapido one hasnt manifested.
  4. Slightly offtopic, but I badgered (I think it was Ben?) from revolution trains at Ally Pally earlier this year. Wanted to see if I could pull off an inception about getting the N scale 313 into OO scale. The conversation was along the lines off "we're going to wait 6-12 months... but we have good word another manufacturer might be doing this".
  5. I'm pretty sure it was "so far". So somewhere down the other unannounced phases... TT will start to run a portfolio that is asymmetric. (On a personal note, I interpret that as "Multiple units are easier to market at smaller scales... so we'll do more"... but thats wild speculation.)
  6. A sandwich on wheels sounds like an untapped invention to me.
  7. Would kill for a retooled networker.
  8. Figured it's mid-December. Needs less foam-mouth around here, and more dart-throwing and a bit of Christmas spirit. 🎄 Chaps, can we try and keep this thread fun? I'm proposing the following rules (stolen from @Edge 2019 Christmas Speculation Therad.) Steam - New Tool 8F - Return of the LNER Era 9 Flying Scotsman - New Tool Jubilee Class Locomotives Diesel/Modern Image - Likely very light on the Diesel side again - More Class 43 Variations (Virgin set with Buffers) (Era 7 Intercity Blue) - LNER Intercity 225 Sets - Avanti Pendolino Climate Change set Coaches/Wagons - First/Scotrail Caledonian Mk3 Sleeper Sets - Commemorative Royal Coaches (Possibly even a Ltd Edition set with a high-detailed 67005) The Surprising Thing - More Greater-Anglia/GEML related Units. Class 720? Class 707 or E320 (I laugh at the fact that I've put so many modern EMUs here which have slim chance. But it's clear that Hornby like freshly-modern units). ______________________________________________ Edit Might also be a good idea to check out the OO wishlist poll for 2022... if you wanted some ideas. Link below ;
  9. Now I'm anxious about my "rails of sheffield" preorder for victor hugo as I placed mine down quite late (November)
  10. First photos (bar the packaging but I can forgive them for being more eco-friendly) look stellar! Anxiously awaiting the HSTs now. Perhaps a TT western layout is possible :o
  11. As far as I see, just the bogies look significantly different (probably to hide the gearing on the power car).
  12. Sadly I'm not electronically minded to have a go at doing this myself :D I did get curious a few months ago on how small the atomisers could go. If it were possible to get something e-cigarette sized... could have a go fitting in a teeny 0-4-0.
  13. Always one who tries to yell "checkmate". Lets clarify. At no point did I go "OMG THIS IS THE FINAL PRODUCT? OUTRAGEOUS Hornby. I WANT MY REFUND." Call it constructive critique if you must.
  14. Wait I'm confused. Reading Hornby magazine, mentions that no "Power pack" (I'm guessing stay alive) is present in these models. Is this part of the DCC decoder that goes on sale afterwards or there's no way to get stay alive in a DCC ready model? Apologies Hornby magazine...
  15. I mean.. we already have current prototypes to go off, so I wouldn't say it was a blind assumption. There's a fair bit of time between now and when the Smoke Black 5s/Scotsmans are due anyway... so I'm not going to be overly pedantic about it. Now Hornby... about that new-tool scotsman in LNER apple green + smoke deflectors...
  16. Looking back at the talk about TRS trains smoke/Bournemouth West smoke copyright claims : https://patentimages.storage.googleapis.com/84/93/74/81e0c775e926b6/GB2578664B.pdf Thing is, I don't know if he's specifically the first to use it? People citing Marklin...and I'm pretty sure some basic childrens toy trains from China do use this. So is this even valid? I dunno... I'm not a copyright expert. I just hope Hornby produce a preserved example with their smoke unit effect. Looked pretty decent on the Scotsman... albeit the intensity could have been better. No doubt also tied to TTS (so cylinder sounds/chuff will be slightly off)
  17. I mean, one limited edition announcement. Flat but... I don't get the hate (nor any use of this thread any longer). Don't buy and move on.
  18. Whilst my benefactors remain anon... like the illuminati, we've been pulling the market strings since the dawn of time. - You never questioned the mystery of mazak rot - Did you think it was co-incidence a OO gauge Electrostar wasn't made? - Sapphire decoders anyone? - Rapido HST-E where? Or did someone throw a... spanner... in the works. - Hornby 0-4-0s are an experiment to immortality - We are the ones who took sledgehammers to your Accurascale Deltics. - DCC is actually connected to the 5G network We are legion. :3
  19. Ah yes... *rips off mask*... and I would have gotten away with it too if it weren't for you meddlin kids.
  20. https://www.cgtrader.com/3d-print-models/hobby-diy/other/oo-mk3-coach-bogie-with-nem-socket-for-older-Hornby-coaches There you go. Bon voyage :D
  21. Your options are pretty limited I'm afraid. The only alternative I could think of is finding/commissioning someone to do a 3D printed version of the bogie.
  22. You could of course... lay-out the Accurascale_Product_Development_Plan.pdf for us... for.... verification purposes
  23. Spot on. Not sure about O-gauge. At the very least though... it's an excuse to blow up the Bassett-Lowke brand and restart from scratch. Abysmal handling. TT as you said is just a waiting game. That being said... the commentary is very different from what you get here on RMWeb vs everywhere else. I'm in groups where people have already stockpiled and planned their scenic layouts for TT/HSTs preordered. Having been the the Kings Cross reveal, there was a palpable excitement "That would look good as my coffee table"... "Housing space is restricted in London, so this is perfect". So I guess the only concern here for the scale is exposure.
