  2. Hi Dan I dont do it that way........when I have the video up on my you tube home page. I click on it to run, so that the link for it comes up at the top of the page, in the line that begins https://www.youtube....etc etc I then right click on the link to highlight it, then click the word copy in the drop down box. I then just paste it in my post on a thread. Hope that helps. Bob.
  3. Hattons are moving then...???? I understand that the shop in Smithdown Road and the warehouse in Widnes are moving to one new business premises in Speke, close to Liverpool airport, and only 5 mins walk from Hunts Cross station on the mersey rail system. I think the move is planned for about September...ish. Logistically....this must be a real plus for their operation. The stock in place where the shop is. When you go to the shop currently, to buy an item that is showing in stock on their website.....you cant have it there and then sometimes, because its in the warehouse in Widnes. Good move Hattons.

  7. Yes, I did notice that Ian....and do share your thoughts . I did think about a lightly weathered version, then having it more heavily professionally weathered by a friend who does weathering for me to a good standard. Some very heavily weathered locos I have seen, are sometimes a bit over the top for my liking........I'm a bit undecided on this one. Bob.
  8. Availability..............its been a few weeks now that the first two versions have been on sale. Hattons still showing both released versions, 266201 and 266202, in stock. So........how many of these first two versions have been made......and are they probably not the most popular versions.?? I did ask the question on a previous post.....but does anyone have any thoughts on how many each of all 12 versions are likely to be made. I am going to wait until the heavily weathered versions are available before I take the plunge. Bob
  9. I was about 9 when the last one went..............dont know if I saw one or not either.....its possible, but unlikely as a Crewe lad........spotting properly didnt kick until I went to the Grammar school aged about 11/12.

  11. Sorry, but I am coming in a bit late on this thread, and may have missed some earlier information. Do I understand that this loco picks up power from both the driving axles and both the pony axles as well.?? i.e. all four axles.?? Thanks...Bob.
  12. Hi Jim, How come you get to drop the loco off at the Electric depot in Wistaston Road...?? Just a short walk up past Queens Park, and your home.!! I used to serve petrol as a 16 year old at the garage in Stewart Street, just down from the depot entrance. Bob.

  16. I have to say, the Garratt was completely OFF my radar untill this damn thread here on RMweb..!! And especially again those damn (good) pictures Rob keeps posting. And now ANDY throws in some more damn (good) pictures . OK OK........I admit defeat....but how can anyone possibly resist the temptation having seen the pictures and read the reviews on RMweb. This thread has been better than any advertising that Heljan or Hattons could have done on this loco. Bob
  17. Thanks Ian, Just been reading the Hattons description again.......I am noticing that on model 266211, it says " no pony brake". Would this be worth the effort to produce a completely separate model I wonder......or just an excuse to produce two heavily weathered models for extra sales. I must admit that having never seen one as a youngster, only aged 8 in 1956, they have been a little off my radar as a purchase. But not any longer.....the reviews, pictures etc on here are doing a damned good job of prising my wallet open.....needless to say, it would be a 266211 or 266208 I would be interested in. Bob.
  18. Could I ask for a bit of help on understanding the minor differences between models 266208 and 266211, both the heavily weathered versions. I know the running numbers are different.!!!!!!! Thanks....Bob.

  20. So Hattons pay for three lots of postage then....???? 1. First despatch 2. Return postage 3. Replacement despatch. Doesnt sound much for one event...................but when that starts to multiply, its not long before there is a problem. My family business spends £1000 a month with a courier......if half those items were retuned for replacement, it would double to £2000 Now imagine if your postage costs are initially considerably more like Hattons are........then the increase in cost for returns and replacements begins to get out of hand and unsustainable.

But who is footing the postage costs for returns etc., I think perhaps most people would prefer it thoroughly checked before despatch....although you are right to say it is the manufacturers responsibility. Can the likes of Hattons send the likes of Bachmann etc., a bill for unnecessary postage costs incurred I wonder.?? Although how many locos do hattons despatch daily........a quick five minute quick check of each loco.....say they are despatching 50 locos a day.? That alone is going to take an extra person to be employed to do this every day.......thats quite a cost.
  22. But with all the recent Bachmann, Hornby and now Heljan issues.........returns just might start to become a problem for Hattons, because of the volume involved (the costs).??

  24. What did you think of the Clayton, if you bought one.....???? I gave up with the fitted motor, after being sent a replacement to fit by Howes and that failing too, I bought a Mashima motor, fitted it myself, and continues to run perfectly. Otherwise my Heljan locos too, are also pretty good runners....the lights are not reliable on occasions. But then again............diesels seem to be more reliable generally, than steam locos, so I think that is fair to say that Heljan had less to go wrong perhaps....but of course Heljan have yet to prove themselves in the UK steam area.....however thats all about to change with the Beyer Garrett of course....lets watch this space.
