    EBay madness

I sold an item recently for just over £200.....it took the guy over a week to pay, after I had raised the issue with ebay. Then after he had paid, which was about a week ago.......he hasnt been in touch yet about collecting the item.....I'm still waiting...???? I'm puzzled by the completely laid back attitude of the buyer................?????? I want rid of he item which is occupying the complete space of a pallette in my business premises. Should I contact him telling him there will be storage rent to pay soon.?? Bob
  2. Hi Michael Most evenings around 5.30pm , the coal train works back from Ratcliffe PS to Liverpool through uttoxeter where I am. On Wednesday evening I heard it rumbling into earshot as usual, expecting to see 60074 in Schencker red livery for a second night in succession. I was shocked.....so surprised by an Orange black and Yellow Colas class 60 working the train, I didnt note its number. So I assume this was the loco you photographed on the evening of the 23rd, that I saw the day after, Wednesday,, working the empties back to Liverpool..?? Thanks for posting the pic. Bob.
  3. Hi Brian, Who is Steve Johnson, and how he is contacted........my own superb weatherer is currently out of commission due to a family illness that he has to take care of. The Heljan heavy weathering was as you say, disappointing. You said your man was in Warrington......not Penketh Models by any chance is it...Grimy Times I think is the name..?? Look forward to seeing your pics later on. Bob
  4. Hi Brian, Thats my intention too....have a really good heavy weathering job done on my Garratt 47996. I havent had any problems whatsoever with mine (touch wood).....it hasnt been overworked yet. Love to see some pics of your professionally weathered BG when you have it back. And it looks like you are gonna have to buy another Railway Mag to help get you through the trip to Warrington. Bob.
  5. You are right Brian, it's not what if used to be. I still love it though. I normal manage a train trip with a group of like minded guys about once a month....so the trip becomes a social outing too. Enjoy the Garratt. Bob
  6. Seems like an odd statement from someone who loves railways...???????
  7. I have just received this information...........from a third party. MONDAY 8th SEPTEMBER 2014. I am informed, most reliably, that at present the plan is to remove 66757 to 66765 as one convoy, using 66753 as the tractor unit....GBRf having authority to do just this! Please don't shoot the messenger if plans subsequently alter. 0X66 1045 Newport Docks to Doncaster Robert Rds Shed Runs on 8th September 2014 Schedule Information STP schedule UID R03421 Runs on 08/09/2014 only Service code 55462780 Operational Information Schedule from ITPS Timed for 60mph max Diesel locomotive, trailing load 1000 tonnes Driver only operated WTT Route Allowances Location Pl Arr Dep Line Path Eng Pth Prf Newport Docks 1045 ½ Alexandra Dock Jn. 8. If there is any further info/pictures from anyone regarding unloading, and possible dates for the their onward journey...let us know please. Thanks..............Bob
  9. The particular items I thought were expensive at exbns, were some Peco code 75 points they were selling.....the difference being £11 to £12 on one stand.....and I think £14/15 at Footplate. Perhaps it was just those items........I shall have a look at the shop next time I'm visiting the SVR. Bob
  10. Is this the same "Footplate" seen often at exhibitions/shows etc.,?? Never been to the shop.....but I'm going to the SVR later this month, so exactly where is the shop.? When I have compared their prices with other traders at various exbns, I have always found them to be much more expensive for the items I have required., and I mean a lot more.!!!
  11. Regarding the soon to arrive 9 new locos at Newport Docls. How many can be towed in a single consist.....is there a limit.??
  12. Am I to understand there are a further 9 GBRf class 66's about to dock in Newport.??
  13. Hi Brian, I too have an iphone...and the only way I know to deal with video clips is to upload them to you tube first. Just find the video clip you want us to see......then tap the icon on the bottom left hand corner of the screen......it presents you with various options. Choose the You Tube option and follow the instructions.....its pretty easy. Bob.

    Hornby P2

Popped into Hereford Models today whilst in the Wye Valley on holiday , completely oblivious to the P2 release as it's off my radar. But there it was......wow, very impressive indeed. Still off my radar though......largely LMS..!!! My pal is getting one, so I'll make do playing with his. Bob
  15. Hi Ian Another loco up there with the Beyer Garratt in terms of desirability for me personally. Pity it's going to be Railroad quality though.!! I'm hoping that with copious weathering it might lose most of the RR looks, what do you think.?? Bob
  16. I noticed that the Sinfin tanks ran through Uttoxeter late at 10am yesterday. About 3 hours down. Lead loco was Colas 66848 pulling a dead Colas 56302, and of course all the tanks. Bob
  17. At last...!!!! Into the loft this evening, fitted the Lenz Standard decoder.................re addressed it to 7996.....and set it off on my private owner coal train. I need a bigger rake..!!!! It runs like an absolute dream.....I couldnt be happier......thankyou Heljan......thankyou Hattons......for £200, a job well done. Here it is........
  18. Unfortunately my planned trip to Hattons has had to be cancelled, pressure of work. It has now arrived at my pals who ordered it for me, and I shall meet up at the pub this evening for the official unveiling and hand over ceremony. No more pills.!!!!!! Bob
  19. Are you that confident there will be more releases.???? Maybe that's a possibility.......but I wouldn't think at the same price.. Better you buy one at today's prices and pay to get a good heavy weathering job done professionally.
  20. Its a bit like the customs when arriving home from abroad.........which channel do you choose....Green, nothing to declare....or Red Channel, frying pan round the back of the head.
  21. I too was half expecting the weathering to be a bit half hearted............but at the purchase price of the loco, I dont mind spending extra on a really good and professional weathering job.......but it will be playtime for a few months first. Bob
  22. And if it fails to turn up...................................buy more pills.
  23. Hi Ian, Glad you had an enjoyable Shildon experience........the Atlantic being not quite my cup of tea, I havent been involved on the thread about it......Thankfully..... The pictures of the Garratt do show it may well be in need a some extra work........but it is a great base to start from. Really looking forward to this model....which I'm certain I am going to enjoy immensley. I'll soon be off the pills. Bob.
  24. Cant wait to hear from you guys....hope its good news re the weathering. Gonna have to wait a little longer for mine, as a trip to Hattons has been organised to collect.........looks like more pills.!!!!!!! Bob. PS.......I think this thread has been a joy to follow recently, a bit of fun and light hearted banter....long may it continue. A complete contrast to some other threads recently.
