  1. Good effort Brian............I know secretly that most of us would maybe like more Garratts. You havent sound fitted all of them have you....I shall have to revise my figures if you have..!!!! We all spend our money in different ways.....I forget how much I used to throw at motorcycle racing....considerably more than 9 Garratts though. Enjoy the models.......I'm sure you will. Bob.
  2. Now let me see......400 wagons at a conservative £10 each........wow......£4000 pounds worth of coal wagons.
  3. Hi Rob, I agree with your "acceptable" comment.....not so sure about the "normal" bit. But I have never been a collector of model trains, I buy them to play with......and the collector market is no doubt very strong, but not my bag. However, I completely understand the desire to have several versions of this quite unique locomotive....and a big thanks to hattons and Heljan for producing it......but at £200 a go, more than one model is likely to be out of reach for many. Bob
  4. Flippin eck Brian.............so thats seven versions you are getting.???? Thats £1400.........if I was to do that, it would be definitley through the "nothing to declare" channel when I got home. No wonder Hattons treated you well........I hope they got you a cup of tea and slice of cake when you visited. If you dont mind me saying...thats a lot of Garratts.....are you intending to have these on your layout all at the same time, or will you have some as static exhibits.
  5. I knew there would be reason somewhere that I could use to justify an APT. 47996 due very soon I believe.
  6. Just had 2 x Colas Class 70's passed through Uttoxeter light engines, in Crewe direction, at 15.15 today. Anybody help with the loco numbers please. Is this the first passage of a class 70 through Uttoxeter.????? Thanks Bob.
  7. Hi Clive, Many thanks for the information.........a little longer to wait yet then. Bob
  8. News about the progress of the brake tender has gone very quiet. I suppose it is suffering the same delays as everything else these days. Bob
  9. Thanks Dave, I'll tell my pals they can relax for a couple of weeks. Bob.
  10. So do some of you guys still have a 3 rail layout on which to run these locos...?/ I have a box full of points and track, and a whole load of coaches and wagons too....perhaps I should get it out and lay it on a baseboard and have a retro play....sounds like fun. Bob
  11. Any ideas on eta into the UK, and which port will they arrive into ??
  12. Remember them well........I also had Sir Nigel, The Duchess, the N2 and Bristol Castle with the plungers under the tender. And guess what.......I still have them....55 years later. Bob.
  13. Hi Rob, I think we both need to take another one of those calming tablets..!!!! Looks as if my Liverpool trip will be put back a few weeks. Bob
  14. Agreed Ian.............as delays go, this one from the Hattons/Heljan camp, all but pales into insignificance......I'm very comfortable with this at the moment. I'm getting quite excited at the prospect of owning a Beyer Garratt pretty soon. Myself and a few friends are going to fix a day out to Liverpool when it arrives, and make collecting the loco, part of the day out..........my pals have pre ordered shopping lists of their own, but surprisingly non of them a BG......well, not yet anyway. And dont they seem to be selling well....!!!!!!!! I'm thinking a pre order of this particular release may well prove to have been a good idea. Bob.
  15. I'm sure it will be worth waiting a little longer....or at least I hope so.
  16. Anybody hazard a guess as how many of each type, so far, were made.?? For instance, if 47995 is down to 10 left in stock.......did we start with 100, 250, or 500.......possibly 1000. My first BG purchase is just round the corner (47996).......I wont buy any more of them......one on my layout will be sufficient.
  17. I agree........they must bring a few projects to a conclusion before announcing further new projects.......or else I feel they would lose some credibility. Kernow have to be commended for what they are trying to do.........and it is a frustration all round to not get these models made. I still live in hope for Bulleid diesel 10203........??????????
  18. Ian I lost my bottle about 5 or 6 weeks ago when I could see on Hattons website, that those released already were selling fast.......I thought maybe the heavily weathered ones would be in great demand, so I took the plunge and ordered one. It is just such a unique model, and at £200......well I just hope I have made a good decision. Bob

    Heljan class 17

I agree with the sentiments about unsprung buffers........BUT, I do have a pair of 20's that I fitted with a screw link coupling....and without sprung buffers this would absolutely not work. Bob
  20. I agree Ashley...............this loco was off my radar initially, even though I am 65 yrs old, I never saw one. Its down to this thread, and also the fantastic and atmospheric pictures from Rob that inspired me to part with £200. So if you are reading this Rob "Its your fault !!!" Bob
  21. I'm nervous Ian...!!!!!!
  22. Me too Brian..........just hoping the weathering is a good job.
  23. Yes, he has a weeks leave....so we are all suffering withdrawl symptoms...!!!
