  1. You're Dad must have expected you to start something else by now.....................so what's next
  2. I can't wait to see this at Warley Amazing skills
  3. Colas 56 on the logs.........I can here the scream already There has also been a DBS 66 with MEA's loaded with sand from Cornwall to Bow in the last couple of years and cement to Burngullow (Colas) should be starting again soon if what I have read elsewhere is correct!
  4. It's subtle but I'm starting to like the paint on wipe off method, it certainly has removed the brightness as well. Nice one Phil
  5. What colours/techniques have you used there bud?
  6. So I did mention this a few posts ago, over the last 6 months I have been slowly detailing and weathering 50032 in it's departmental state before it's demise. I can remember to this day having it on The Taw And Tor Retour in 1990 top and tailed with 50031 in south Devon. This is probably my most extreme attempt of weathering to date and although far from perfect I think it has captured what I wanted......well just about. Thanks for looking
  7. Thanks Phil, exhibition at Crewe this weekend by any chance???? That's very kind of you Paul, but although most of the design and layout ideas are my own (with input from my friend Phil above) in terms of techniques of how to achieve things I am really pinching every idea either from here, you tube or Richard at Trident Trains Thanks Kevin, your photo threads have been a great help. I quite like the cement terminal although I really have got to research the discharge gear a lot more yet and even the silo may get scratch built, the Hornby one was cheap and helped me get a sense of scale at the outset.
  8. Saw this at Gresty Bridge on Thursday last week......
  9. More excellent modelling as ever Marcus, looks amazing
  10. Cool, thanks Mike, reference for my next layout.......how did you paint the line? I keep putting off doing mine.......lol!!!!
  11. That's all coming together really nicely, love both the track and the platform. How did you do the correct width platform edge please?
  12. Good afternoon, well I've not been up to too much recently but I have been sorting out some long term issues that I just never got round to sorting out. Firstly I have made the main platform and reception siding just a few mm's longer.......just enables me to run a basic HST formation if I desire........well only just!!!!! Then I made a wall to go at the end of the sidings to separate them from the pathway to the quayside Added some details to the runround pointwork including having to fettle the edge of the platform to give some clearance to my class 50 buffers during manoeuvres And while I was soldering my droppers to the bus underneath I thought I may as well add a couple of platform lights as well.......upside down soldering is best done in small doses!!!!!!! And this one just because I'm enjoying my retro blue for a change
  13. Just reminds me of All-Line Rovers and bashing 37's like mad in the 80's (it was a long way from Oxford but so worth it), nice pics Jim......thanks for helping to recall the memories
  14. It looks amazing to me mate.......I dream of being able to model to that standard, brilliant work Phil
  15. So another catch up I guess. I started thinking about a Chacewater cement terminal idea in the corner as I developed the track going into the fiddle yard in the summer of 2015. This first view shows some very tentative planning I think I made some refinements And then got some cork and track laid down With this being a general overall view of the results I started trying to plan a sort of hidden entrance that could work with the existing backscene (not perfect but I felt it was reasonable from most viewing angles) Concrete and ballast added Backscenes removed and outer contours added with a rough covering Next some trees and statics grass (not really getting to grips with the later) Some hedges made from kitchen scourers (a bit more foliage required and far from perfect but I'm hoping I might be able to fettle these in position........any advice welcome, even if it is rip it up and start again) And then I guess a bit of a distant overview.....must take some more pics but obviously loads more detailing, concrete weathering, discharge gear, gates, foliage still to be added but I'm hoping at least a starting point to be working with Thanks for popping by and looking
  16. So this week I made a change over.......I've gone all retro
  17. Thanks Marcus, I have to admit I too have found that a short static grass seems to cover better and I have only used normal PVA as the adhesive. When you add the longer tufts later what glue do you use as doing my normal worrying first using PVA you're just going to get blobs sat on top of the original static grass and yours looks much better than that
  18. That looks awesome Marcus, how have you done that? I'm really struggling with scenery and static grass and the way you have added it with the rocks just looks amazing. I know 9 times out of 10 I will panic before I even have a go at anything but with all the static grass I have laid I always seem to have far too much painted ground cover coming through once I have removed the excess and then for another example, when you add the random tufts between the tracks where do you put your earth cable for every clump? Please I don't want to take over your topic with details but any help would be gratefully received
  19. Evening Chaps, So in case you wondered the spoil wagons turned out like this And the first 50 I ever had for haulage was 50002 back in 1982 and by all accounts it looked something like this.......well......ish!!!!!!!
  20. Hi Marcus, this is the best I've ever found for Earle's, from the village of Hope and up those steps.
