  1. I've nothing to contribute to this topic, but I've just recognised your mugshot. Say hello to your Dad, should see you both at Leeds later this year, and I hope my 1F is still running.
  2. If the new locos sell well the coaches may come later, but I fear the loco's won't do too well, as I have said before, I don't think they can be such an improvement on the previous ones to make people (certainly me) want to spend £150 just for a slight upgrade. If they haven't been produced before I'll have them, if they are "re-runs", I won't.
  3. I think the new one is going to be shiny, as it's listed as a NRM one.
  4. While I model/collect LMS 1930's stuff, I thought the previous stream-liner was "good enough". I don't understand the continued calls to "re-do" a current model, just because there are things to nit-pick; there always will be. I would much rather efforts were put into creating something that hasn't been previously modelled. I bought the new LMS Duchess, but only because that particular one hadn't been done before. It may be ever so slightly better than the previous models, but not enough to warrant replacing my existing models if Hornby should start re-covering the same models previously produced. in this vein I will have a 6244, 'cos I haven't got one. I won't buy 6221, 'cos I have one, and if 6229 had been done in blue I would have had one of those; as it is this will be the 3rd red incarnation of this model. (matt, shiny, new tooling)
  5. Ploughs for yellow snow? What the hell are you doing on your layout?
  6. I wish. Don't care who does it as long as someone does.
  7. So am I. I think I have 8 or 9 LMS red Scots, and years ago I converted one for DCC sound with the same plug and socket arrangement that Bachmann and Hornby both use. When the chassis upgrade was anounced I thought I'll wait and work my way through chassis swaps (as I have with 6 earlier Jubilees). I have 6 sound chips waiting for the Scots. I am pigged off now, as besides the work involved with the old chassis, they do not come up to scratch with everything else I own. If it wasn't for the very undersized cylinders I might put up with them, and I can't use the Jubilee or Patriot chassis, as wrong cylinders and wheel balance weights. Crap start to new year.
  8. This is my Heljan turntable, modified quite a bit to look more British
  9. The biggest British turntables were 70foot for Pacific's, the Fleischman and Heljan models are approx 90 ft in HO which is approx 77ft in OO and are the closest, and don't look out of scale with a pacific on them in my opinion. The Fleischmann one looks a bit too continental for me as in has 2 circular rings to support it, which you didn't find in Britain. They are both expensive new, but as nearly new ones can be dropped on on EBay around £150., maybe less if you aren't too bothered about condition.
  10. 14 inches is big, British Pacific's are approx 12 inches max. What are you running?
  11. I've said this for years, ever since it came out, and every time I've seen Mr Dennis at shows. I think the fact Bachmann did a red one for the NRM has something to do with it, but for gawd's sake Bachy, get yer finger out! How many years do you think us codgers have got left to wait?
  12. Rails have advertised 3 W Staniers, all listed as new at 249.50 + 2.00, but one is described as slightly sticky runner, one has broken speedo, one has loose footplate. ??? I presume they are returns, so seem a bit pricey.
  13. They could also produce 6229 Duchess of Hamilton in blue, if they wished, to make it 6 blue ones. (From when they did swapsies and there was a red 6220 and a blue 6229)
  14. Hornby have made their money, they've sold all they made. The retailers have made their money, they've all sold out. A handful of end consumers have also made a profit selling theirs on. What's the problem? Is there a law that a customer must always make a loss when they dispose of their items?
  15. One specific question about which emu/dmu you prefer? Can I make a wild stab at what you're considering producing? PS. I don't care about them either.
  16. Can't give you dates, but they used 3.5's for years, then swapped to v4's, now currently putting select in new models. For instance, I think you get class 20's with all three decoders in them depending on when the new loco version was introduced.
  17. All gone now. That was a short stab at extorting, can't have any Yorkshire blood in 'em. Amateurs. Wait 'till I stick mine on E-bay. I'll make the bu**ers wince.
  18. While we're picking at the nits, you two can't spell either. (Arthur Ransome, king's ransom).
  19. They've sold 2 of them, and stuck another £50 each on the remaining 2.
  20. That's unusual. There's 3 on E-bay at the moment, all £300 upwards, it's not like Olivias to not make the pips squeak.
  21. I also have one, which I have just tried to sell on E-bay, with no success. Rails sold one a few weeks ago, but mine hardly got looked at. I'll give it another go sometime.
  22. I'm not very technologically minded, but if you give me your email address, I'll photograph them and send them to you, if you can blow them up you should be able to read them. Failing that I can take them to a library and photocopy them and post them to you for the price of a stamp and 5 10p photocopies. Regards.
