  1. I'll be having a LMS one 'cos under rule 1 if it says LMS on it then it got sent all the way down to my somewhere Derby-ish shed for repairs and running in. Locos got sent from all over the country to my shed for these purposes 'cos I said they did; and sod off to anyone who wants to argue.
  2. Is Paul Chetter going to be there? He was supposed to be at Newark this weekend, but was conspicuous by his absence.
  3. Answering my own question, Googling F1 free to air 2019 gives the answer that it maybe Pick TV (channel 11), or channel 4 may be up for it. The BritishGP will still be shown live.
  4. Although Sky have the rights to show all races live, I thought the highlights were supposed to be made free-to-air. Where do we get to see these?
  5. If Hornby re-vamped their Caley Pug and Single that would make a nice trio.
  6. At last something for LMS fans to look forward to.
  7. Hear bloody hear. You'd think the least he could do was cock something else up, 'cos there's nowt else interesting going on. It's a lot more fun reading about other peoples struggles than going through your own.
  8. Hello. You said you were using speaker cables as droppers. If these are are the ones that are a pair of same coloured wires with one having a tracer stripe, then it is quite easy just to cross one set over, even if you think you have checked them previously (you can sort of develop a blind spot, and keep missing the fault, well I can anyway). How easy is it to disconnect all droppers from the bus bar and connect back one at a time, checking for a short after each one?
  9. Panic over folks. Reading the destructions more carefully helps. If the address in the ECoS is longer than the remote's smaller screen can handle it scrolls. Learning to handle the controls better helps. Don't know yet whether the joystick is a bit sticky or I'm not using it properly yet, time will tell. Thanks for showing an interest.
  10. Thanks for your replies, but no common themes to the addresses, and there’s no memory in the remotes, they are supposedly just replicating what's in the main unit at the time. I'll have another play tomorrow, maybe try removing the board from the main unit and plugging back in.
  11. Hello. I have an ECoS 50200, and today have received a second-hand 50111 radio control unit plus extra 50112 hand unit. I have inserted the card in the 50200, and switched on the first radio control unit. It powered up and went through its data transfer functions and the full list of locos transferred from my ECoS to the remote control. I selected a loco from the list on the remote and it worked. All good so far. However when scrolling through the list of 60 locos on the remote there are about 10 listings that when highlighted they just do a "neon sign" impersonation of the address continuously rolling to the left, and I cannot get them to control, the address keeps "left rolling" when selected. They work fine on the ECoS. I powered up the second remote unit and that did the same, it transferred the data but the same 10 locos won't operate. Any suggestions please?
  12. Adding a speaker at point of manufacture probably only adds pennies to the cost. The Webb tank had wiring and provision for only one type/size of speaker, so it's logical to go one step further at small cost and add the correct speaker, thereby eliminating possible problems caused by aftermarket fitting attempts.
  13. I don't think "firebox flicker" necessarily means DCC fitted. Their diesel locos have lights which work on DC, and become switchable with a DCC chip.. I presume one light in a firebox will do the same.
  14. Everyone seems to have forgotten that the last few streamliners Hornby made had fixed rear trucks with exchangeable wheel sets.
  15. Any chance you can extend that pic of Emma Peel down a bit whilst I hunt out my old dirty mac?
  16. My abiding memory is him trying to whip Diana Rigg in her skimpies in the Avengers. Dunno why that's always stuck in my mind. (He lied).
  17. Besides the wheel weights the original Scots' cylinders are different. I'm afraid I'm not technical enough to post pictures, but from pictures in LMS Locomotives vol 5 the original Scots and Patriots were somewhat similar, but the Jubilees were different. Upon rebuilding the Scots and Patriots were given cylinders very similar to the Jubilees. Incidentally, Bachmann have put the same Jubilee/rebuilt Patriot cylinders on their unrebuilt Patriots, which is wrong.
  18. I have no idea what the "ambient sounds" will consist of, but I have seen a couple of layouts which had birdsong gently twittering away; these did it for me as it really set the scene of a country station even when nothing was moving. It was all it took to set the imagination/memories going, and a wagon that just did this that could be parked up would be enough to part me from my pennies.
  19. This post is just to get this topic back to the top of new content, so others might not miss it.
  20. I've nothing to contribute to this topic, but I've just recognised your mugshot. Say hello to your Dad, should see you both at Leeds later this year, and I hope my 1F is still running.
  21. If the new locos sell well the coaches may come later, but I fear the loco's won't do too well, as I have said before, I don't think they can be such an improvement on the previous ones to make people (certainly me) want to spend £150 just for a slight upgrade. If they haven't been produced before I'll have them, if they are "re-runs", I won't.
  22. I think the new one is going to be shiny, as it's listed as a NRM one.
  23. While I model/collect LMS 1930's stuff, I thought the previous stream-liner was "good enough". I don't understand the continued calls to "re-do" a current model, just because there are things to nit-pick; there always will be. I would much rather efforts were put into creating something that hasn't been previously modelled. I bought the new LMS Duchess, but only because that particular one hadn't been done before. It may be ever so slightly better than the previous models, but not enough to warrant replacing my existing models if Hornby should start re-covering the same models previously produced. in this vein I will have a 6244, 'cos I haven't got one. I won't buy 6221, 'cos I have one, and if 6229 had been done in blue I would have had one of those; as it is this will be the 3rd red incarnation of this model. (matt, shiny, new tooling)
