  1. Is everything going to be modern-ish, or is there a point to us steamy-types to keep reading this thread?
  2. It might not be such a secret if it was listed in Railway Modeller's diary section, which it is not. I attend exhibitions and toyfairs most weekends, and this is my (and I presume others) bible. I will be attending, but only because someone mentioned it at last weekend's Barnsley show. I didn't know it was on 'till then.
  3. For some reason the PDF link won't open again, but I think I can remember enough to get it working. Won't get round to it 'till next week though, thanks for all your posts.
  4. Thank you very much for that. I couldn't find it on google, and I wouldn't know how to limit a PDF to just the English bit if I could! The wiring diagram is still in German, but I think I'll be able to wire it up. I still have 2 questions from the 1st wiring diagram which is for 2-rail though:- 1) what is the box numbered 10769 which is placed between the track outputs from the DC/DCC controller and the green & brown wires to the turntable controller. 2) The diagram shows a yellow diagonal line through the turntable which is where the polarity reverses, but there is nothing on the turntable, either topside or underside to say where this is. Once again, thank you very much for the above.
  5. Hello all. I've just obtained a Roco 42615 turntable, but it only has a German instruction booklet. Does anyone have an English one they would either be willing to part with, or photocopy for me? I would also appreciate help with how to connect the five coloured wires that come from the controller.
  6. Look at the photos in the post above, you can see it right hand side top picture.
  7. I also seem to remember reading about that when I was a little lad. I think its name was Gordon, and if I remember correctly a little engine called Thomas had a hand in the rescue.
  8. I changed the loco icon to something else once, and that disappeared from my list. If you have 2 steam and 2 diesels might they be hiding in 2 different lists?
  9. The only place I have found that does 3.5 reblows (most only do v4) is Howes, Olivia's used to do some types of loco but not all, don't know if they still do but Howes sound better.
  10. Panic over folks, its all my own stupidity. (Put it down to old age, etc). When i was messing I disconnected my controller, and plugged the main and programming leads in the wrong sockets, no wonder nothing was happening. All well now.
  11. Hello all. I was trying to connect something to the layout today (not important what) but it wasn't working so gave it up. Afterwards I noticed two locos that were on the tracks at the time would not move, and thought I must have inadvertantly damaged the decoders, though the controller hadn't signed any problems. I subsequently found that the two locos had changed from their assigned addresses (2 & 4) to 3, and both still worked perfectly on the address 3. However neither will change from address 3, though the controller is going through all the motions and showing no problems. Any ideas folks?
  12. More likely the black one was put back so they could produce two (or more) at the same time?
  13. Hello. I've just had a look at the instructions for one of these to see which decoder is in it, and I see it's a Loksound Select. Has anyone bought one and can give a verdict on the sound and synchronization?
  14. Take the chip out and try it in another loco that you know works, if your suspect one works now you need a new speaker. If it doesn't it's the chip. You will have to try a reset if you have tried everything else.
  15. You could also have a look at post 2220 on page 89.
  16. Your Title's a bit off-putting, I hope it's just a spelling mistake?
  17. I removed the DCC mounting board and blanking plug, and the two metal pillars they were fixed to, and fitted a Loksound micro V4 with my own 6-pin plug and socket arrangement. This left enough room to fit a YooChoos speaker I had under the decoder as well as a speaker in the place provided in the bunker. The chip needs re-blowing with a suitable sound though.
  18. The Peckett doesn't really fit in with everything else I own either, which has LMS written on it. I told myself to be strong, unfortunately I am but a weak and feeble man.
  19. Years ago I did 3 of these for myself, when loksound 3.5 was the norm. You can get a full size 21 pin in the tank, and I used a 20mm round speaker stuck against the back of the cab, I didn't think it looked too obtrusive at all. The cab just detaches with the speaker attached, I soldered bent wire to the speaker terminals which contacts 2 small pins I drilled into the cab floor. If I was having a go now I would use a zimo mx648 which is 10mm shorter than a full size decoder, and I am fairly confident you could fit the speaker in the tank as well. The problem is although I shoved as much lead shot into every space I could to compensate for the weights I removed from the tank, it is still a light model. When you compare it with the Peckett, they are similar size but the new model is a lot heavier due to its cast construction.
  20. I've reported it as well, plus a few other similar ones as well over the last few days. I've noticed the thieving sh*ts have now started using English names but with the address still in Chinese characters. If they fix that they will be harder to spot. You'd think the combined brainpower at EBay would get their fingers out to stop it before it corrupts the site completely
  21. That's interesting. Is there a similar thing for Loksound 3.5's. Regards.
  22. LMS & BR versions now being listed on E-Bay, let the hunt begin. (By the way Oiks, the cry is "Tally-Ho", not "After the B*st*d, gerrit!")
