  1. People grumble because they have experienced change, and the change was for the worse. In my recent experience PayPal, Gmail and eBay have all changed, and not for the better. The new Rails and Bachmann sites have also had a lot of criticism in these pages. If the site is/was poor, by all means improve it. People get apprehensive when they can't see anything wrong with what they've already got, and cannot readily see room for improvement, only the scope for making things worse unintentionally.
  2. Why is this world obsessed with "change for changes sake"? Anyone heard the phrase "if it ain't broke don't fix it"? Apart from a pretty useless search facility, which I'm sure someone could upgrade without a completely new site, this seems a very good Webby thing. Old codgers like me like a bit of continuity and familiarity, and older things are always better than new ones, which is why all my locos have chimneys and LMS on their sides instead of those modern boring box things that you can't tell their face from their a**e. (Assumes defensive position and awaits onslaught). Bring it on:)
  3. Maybe they should pour a few cans into the tank, see if it makes the car go faster.
  4. I couldn't swear, but I seem to recollect either Dapol or Hornby did a lined L&Y version once.
  5. Thank you to the 2 contributors above for partially refuting the top posting. There was so much wrong with it I couldn't muster the enthusiasm to start a long dissertation.
  6. Could someone with a bit of weight and gravitas in the industry (that's you Mr Y) please try and get Bachmann to decorate their LMS locos properly, with lining, or in the correct colour, for the 30's; instead of just banging everything out in plain black as in the last couple of years before nationalisation. (ie L&Y tank, 1P, Compound). I've been asking for years, but they obviously take no notice of plebs.
  7. Oh dear. How unfortunate. (Snigger snigger, laff laff, fall about.)
  8. Have a look at the link I posted above, and have a go at working your way through testing and dismantling your dud t/t, it may require a new pcb or motor to bring it back to life, but at the price of these things its worth spending a bit of time on it. Regards.
  9. As I said the 2 yellow wires are only from the track, so don't affect the motor. There are three coloured wires from the switch to the turntable to make it work, and a black and white from the switch to the transformer for power. If you can hear clicking when you move the switch the solenoid in the deck is working, so you have power. Either the motor is stuck or there is another problem. Have a look at this:- http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/134969-fleischmann-6152c-turntable-stopped-working/
  10. From memory the 2 yellow wires are the deck track feeds, there are 3 different coloured wires to operate the deck motor.
  11. Hamilton beat Alonso in his first year, zero experience versus two world championships, with Alonso bleating "tell him to stop it Mr Dennis, it's not fair", or words to that effect.
  12. SMILLEY, ANGREE, CONFUSED, FRIENDLY ETC. Nope, still can't seem to make them appear. (Laugh now, you bu**ers).
  13. Just digressing from the subject for a mo, whenever I post from my tablet and try to insert a grinning emoji thingy, it comes up on my typing, but dissappears when the actual post appears. Can make my postings seem a bit abrupt, especially if some of the readers are a bit humourously challenged and need a pointer.
  14. Oi! Where's the link? What do we pay you for?
  15. Hello again. I already have 2 with cab and 1 without, if this is a without cab version pm me with details to see if you can tempt me. Regards.
  16. It works now. Panic over. Tell A P to turn round and go home.
  17. The link doesn't work for me. Send for Andrew P.
  18. Hello Andyram. I'm your visitor from Saturday that called on the way back from Crich. Now you know how to contact me when you're ready to sell me the 2 sound Jinties for £100 each. Best of luck with your enterprise, you'll need it with punters like me. Regards.
  19. Eyup Andy, can we have a bit less narrative with your links? (I'm not a wind-up merchant, honest).
  20. Andrew P is my main source of F1 news. Keep posting the links please.
  21. You do not change CV 29 to 1, you read the current value of CV 29 and add 1 to it, i.e. if it is currently set to 8 then change it to 9.
  22. If you're having problems with warning lights that keep coming on, do what us old-schoolers do. Take the bulbs out of the lights.
  23. Is it similar to conjecture then?
  24. What's conjuncture and how do you create it? I'm only average at modelling but I'll give it a go.
