  2. On Saturday our leading Duff gave up the ghost at Carlisle. However our other Duff made a fine job of getting across to Jordyland and down the ECML.

Charters usually have to have two up in case of failure; in this case T & T from WCR. At least the dead Duff was near home (Carnforth).

It's a bit worrying when 'heritage' diesels are often much older than most steam loco's were when I saw them in the 60s, especially the wasted Standards.

If you have ever heard him speak he sounds so similar it is freaky! Some people in the early 80's started a rumour that he would join in with a Beatles reunion which is almost plausable!

The song was on R2 yesterday (Thursday) and was something like I'd like a heart. Sorry I can't remember as I didn't hear the title only the end of the number.

      'In the shower....'LOL.

My wind is coming from the west and at hight speed :-) perhaps that's why there is not much rain here as it must have been dumped on the Dales/Pennines and/or blown to bits on its' way here!!!!

Nelson would turn in his grave - its sad to hear someone else got the same news I did a few years back. Its appalling to the extreme.

Perhaps I was too early but even at 10.15 there were a load of blokes boozing at the station pub. They went to Barton thank goodness.

Sorry I missed the Cleethorpes Light Railway though; I'll have to go again.

Trouble is that wherever you go, other than very remote places, they seem to spread there eventually like oil on water.

I'm sure you'd rather have saffron cakes though Phil !

    3. Mallard60022

      Mallard60022

Oh yes. I think the latest keep healthy/fit ploy is to eat a reasonable number of s'gones/saffron cakes and then do an appropriate number of lengths in the pool and followed by an hour in the gym. Trouble is it's getting a bit expensive and not leaving a lot of time for modelling!! Suppose I could finance all this by selling surplus kits etc. and then I wouldn't need so much modelling time anyway!

  19. Suddenly I hate work. Could it be that there is a new boss who wants to prove a point (well many points actually and not the sort of points I like either)?

      Cheers guys!!!!!

Think I'll put in some overtime for various things like call outs and boiler problems before I depart. That will pay for a couple more loco's! What I need is some snow to do for the boiler and some vandals to break into the site; where do I find that/them apart from Doncaster or Mexborough?

    1. mason

      mason
