  1. Model shop proprietor told me he hates computers and he hates the internet. Oh dear...

What's wrong with hating computers and the interweb? Sounds sensible to me.

  3. Quoting me more than my car is worth for a years insurance? That was silly of you cos I can actually do without it and don't need to pay you a penny! Your Loss #RobbingFilthInsurance!

  4. Local timber merchants are a tad pricey and do not offer to cut the wood locally unless I drive down to Lincoln and find a way to fit the boards in my small Fiesta. Any suggestions for cheap baseboards?

    1. ruggedpeak

      ruggedpeak

Redundant flat pack furniture can provide useful boards.

  5. The Met Office has issued a national alert for Yellow Snow. No, really, most of the UK is going to be covered in Yellow Snow https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/warnings#?date=2017-12-10

  8. Can't see Railtec Tranfers lasting long if they don't even answer emails, hey ho back to Fox then :)

Having run my own business and been deluged with calls and emails from people demanding urgent answers who never actually buy anything I'd suggest being patient. Last time I looked they aren't the size of Tesco and probably don't have a dedicated comms team to answer every query. The time taken to respond costs far more than the margin on one set of transfers.

  10. Am I the only one who thinks the Bachmann Mk1 BG and GUV are over priced compared to replica and limby ones, especially when the 80s BR modeller still would have to alter the models?

  11. 37254 is in colas colours and named "Cardiff Canton"

  12. Just discovered that I have one of the "Uncirculated" new £1 coins, is it immoral to stick this on eBay for the silly prices people are asking then spend the profits on trains without telling the misses??

    1. ruggedpeak

      ruggedpeak

Which bit is immoral, selling it for a profit or not telling the missus? I'd argue you are morally obliged not to tell the missus you are buying more trains.

Ernie was busy, the 37's were back on the run an hour and a half later. DRS 57007 is now parked up at Norwich and an unknown DRS 37 hidden behind the station.

Presumably it is too difficult to run round the loco at each end if one of the two is working? Not the busiest of lines.

  18. just a heads up on facebook there is someone claiming to be from Love productions [the people who make great British bake-off] posting in model railway groups wanting to enlist modellers in a project to build the worlds biggest model railway for TV, it makes no sense so you'll most likely spot it, no idea what their end goal is

It's a real shame but a completely avoidable situation. Shows just how much WCRC values its customers that it lets them down again due to their inability to manage safety.

  23. More garbage from head office: we've just had a rebuke for not referring to staff as either "colleagues" or in the numbers sense as "headcount". I often wonder if this kind of thing is something our underemployed and overstaffed desk jockeys dream up to bolster their Linkedin achievements/lies section.

Our HR is now 'Strategic HR'. That means they don't do HR, they leave that to the line managers. Got a problem employee, you have to deal with it yourself. So what do HR actually do then? Still waiting for an answer on that one.
