  1. I think Accurascale really do need to look at more steam era announcements, considering there are 6 D&E locos to 2 steam locos currently announced, it could quite easily be portrayed as a bit too D&E heavy, despite there being evident demand for said locos. Of course it depends on the locos being modelled (something preserved always helps) but it is quite disappointing sometimes for modellers whom would love to try something Accurascale but either cannot justify early BR Diesels, or either of the 2 currently announced steam locos. Now saying this, I don't personally come into this group, having 37714 on order, however there are plenty of modellers who do come into said grouping. I wouldn't complain if say a Collett 2251 or a Stanier 8F or one of the many other suggestions that could believably operated within Wales (particularly Mid Wales) were to be announced by the Accurascale team. Though speaking of steam locos, and of course with the diesel set up that is currently being heavily dominant, some more coaches to go with could be interesting to see, even if they were say BR MK1s of the corridor type, or something else (I hear there are plenty of LMS and GWR designs available not yet modelled).
  2. There's always an option for an Accurascale industrial steamer, or an early industrial diesel like RT1 as that was 1937 built...
  3. Oooooo interesting, will have to look more into it.
  4. A very good choice, now to come up with a reason for a fictional heritage railway in Mid* Wales to have one.....
  5. Taff Vale O1 class could be good to see in 00.... More from the perspective of it's not been done in RTR before, not to mention the Taff Vale has been left untouched by all manufacturers, so maybe something that could work, and if you do that you're part way to the TVR O2 and U1, if you add the TVR U you've got 4 classes, of which, to my knowledge, shared similar parts between them (wheels, tanks, etc). Not to mention TVR 28 (which is an O1, and the last Welsh built standard gauge steam locomotive) worked at the Longmoor Military Railway, and then with the NCB at Hetton Colliery. So plenty of potential.
  6. Of course if an industrial diesel fits the bill, why not an 0-6-0 Hunslet like this, would certainly be of use to many people...
  7. Been wondering, will we be able to see a list of Planet Industrials retailers on the PI website? I know it's not 100% relevant to this thread but seeing that it was mentioned on FB that you guys were after more retailers for the RTR stuff I thought I would ask.
  8. You Rapido guys do love to have fun don't you? (rhetorical question before anyone tries to answer) Can't wait for this months newsletter, what with the S160 being in there, and then this Manning Wardleness being out there.
  9. I can just about get away with one, though that will mostly be for the shorter sets, or double heading. Either way, Manning Wardles are cute enough they should sell well.
  10. It is looking like something that they're planning.
  11. Random question, but has anyone done a survey to find out what the percentage of modellers using older tech compared with newer tech is? More so because it would be fairly interesting to see what the data set would be like. In all regards to this model though, one (or maybe 2) will most likely end up being added to my fleet, if only for the WW2 and preservation era connections. Having been after a decent 2-8-0 this should do me just fine.
  12. Even if it is a Coreless motor, it will still be a decent performer. At least in my experience, I have found coreless motors have more torque than 5 pole motors used by some manufacturers, which is important when you consider the size of this loco, and that it is expected for such a model to be able to haul a reasonable amount of rolling stock. But looking at Rapido's previous releases, very much is looking to be Coreless.
  13. News from Heljan on these, they're due to arrive next month. Run 2 that is.
  14. Hawksworth Saloon at Blaenavon a while back now. Standard service train with it being used for First Class. So definitely some operational potential for them.
  15. Really is a shame, at least though Rapido have been transparent in the matter.
  16. Random suggestion, but why not do a fictional NCB livery on one of these for example by taking 918005 and replacing the GW lettering with NCB lettering?
  17. I know it's a preservation era thing, but I do think it would be good if Accessible TSOs (such as the 'fuss-free' vehicles on the NYMR) were covered in such a range, whilst a small part of the MK1 story it may still be something that could be included. This would probably only really appeal though to a minority of modellers, but who knows.
  18. With the price point and age of the Bachmann models though it does seem that a new tooled range would not go amiss, and with Hornby's offering also being priced at a point that to me at least seems unreasonable, it makes most sense to me for an Accurascale range of coaches, which even at £70 rrp (with the 10% bundle would mean it is £63 a coach, which is something like £10 more than the Bachmann ones at retailers), it also seems to be a logical addition to the growing Accurascale range, and with over 60 years worth of use on both national rail and heritage railways it seems it would fit in well with the Manors, Buckjumpers, 30/31s, 37s, 50s, and Deltics quite nicely. The Bachmann model is being 20 years old (according to Hattons it was released in 1999 making it over 24 years old as of writing this), plus the high RRP of these models, and the lack of availability of select liveries, it does make it seem, at least to myself, like there is a market for new tooled MK1s.
  19. I still think it would be good to see a new tooled range of BR MK1 Corridor stock, including some of the modifications added in preservation for accessibility, as these coaches do form the backbone of the preservation era scene, as well as much earlier. Would provide some more livery variations as well for each type (RMB's in Blood and Custard for example), might be a long shot to suggest things like the accessible coaches at the NYMR but end of the day it's just a suggestion.
  20. Thought there was a conversion kit under development for the GWR versions...
  21. Ended up acquiring one of these earlier this week from Monkbar Model Shop, lovely model, should go nicely with the other Rapido wagons I have (and the ones I intend to get at some point), should soon be able to make a full Rapido GWR set if one so felt inclined what with the 44xx coming as well.
  22. Good to see the price decrease from £150 back to £130, and that you guys are now supplying retailers! Be interesting to see if you get other exclusive commissions as well!
  23. I would have to disagree, but of course we're all just potential customers for any future models. I say Run 4 as I would expect Run 3 to most likely consist of the liveries suggested, and with Met 1 coming it would make sense to produce the Metropolitan liveried ones, so maybe one or two liveries from Run 1 are included, however I would be more inclined to say run 3 would be liveries not in the two previous runs. Again we do not know, we are all outside of the decision process so at the end of the day we will have to wait and see what is announced and what isn't.
  24. One would be inclined to say never say never, considering that I believe someone has said somewhere (whether in this thread or somewhere else on the internet) that Hattons are not considering rereleasing the first run liveries at least initially. Maybe a run 4 with some of the older popular and some new liveries?
