Excellent stuff - you got rid of the curtains! Keep up the good work.
  2. I take it you and the neighbour won't be exchanging Christmas cards this year.

The photographic step by step weathering of the Q1 is great. I don't have the guts to do that. Do we now get a photographic step by step of you making a mince pie? I also do not have the guts to make one of those.

See this is where I get lost being on the other side of the planet - a "Mince Pie Open Weekend". What on earth is that?! If I could afford it, I would love to drop in and see just what it is all about. I wish you all the best - but I am not entirely sure what I am endorsing/encouraging.
  5. The bronze hinges you say. I guess I'd agree if I could bl***y see them!
  6. Had to consult the thesaurus to find a superlative that had not been used by someone else and finally settled on faultless.
  7. I am a bit ignorant - but can you elaborate on why you need to paint the corrugated hut.
  8. Love the photos - but you really have to do something about the clock on the station. Really man the same time is shown in posts #1777 and #1863. Before everybody gets wound up I am joking.
  9. I really cannot pick which is the money shot - damn they are all good (except the last one of course). Where I live we have problems with Geckos - an introduced lizard species - that seem to have adapted very well to modern urban living. They roam across my layout at night knocking over items not glued down.
  10. I cannot imagine how many times I would have sworn putting together those benches - if indeed I could have finished them. I suspect my attempts would now be land fill. You must have the patience of Job as my grandmother would say. Good on you!
  11. You have to be proud of that.
  12. Love the product placement in today's second photo.

Sorry couldn't resist the curtain comment. I know you described the workbench as bad but in the video it looks great. It's those little things I want to improve on with my layout. Is there going to be a video with steam?

Really enjoyed that. But am I right in thinking you have covered the curtains?
  15. It's funny how we all seem to complain about never having enough time for this hobby and bemoan our rate of progress. On the other hand my wife thinks I have way too much time to spend in my train room and seems genuinely surprised I have not built a life size model of a train station. Mysteries of life I guess.
  16. Have just acquired a small camera that sits quite comfortably in a bogie well wagon. I am still fiddling - so the link is to some unedited footage - and yes my head makes an appearance. This is just a teaser as I plan to hone my film making skills. Hopefully not too boring. https://www.youtube.com/embed/HCQd5Zraa5Q
  17. This is yet another example of why this forum is both inspiring and intimidating. I would never in a million years have thought of this. It is just so clever. On the other hand it just shows how out of my depth I am in this hobby. Keep up the great work.
  18. You are a very brave man letting a 4 year old operate the points. My son only ever wanted to set points for a collision. Apparently its more fun if the trains crash.
  19. Surely you are not going to apologise for that latest photo. That is b****y fantastic!!
  20. Appalling is not a word I would associate with this layout in any way (including the photography). Stunning, brilliant and awesome are more apt.

Trust me I have learnt my lesson. Ironically I do need to hang curtains or blinds in my train room as the Brisbane morning sun is going to cause some serious fading.
