  1. Searching for old railway calendars i had as a kid in the 80s cos the pictures were goo, one was a large A3 size of paintings with a lovely one of Ryde pier and m7 tanks

      Had another calendar, A4 size black and white shots, one of a blue class 47 leaning into the curve at Dent with mk3s, was a great shot i used to try and draw it, wish i could find it again

  4. Thought id seen every type of rail enthusiast, but Ive recently discovered people who go on railtours just to go over certain crossovers.

      We had a BLS tour to Cattewater last May, generally a friendly bunch, and not many buffer kisses amongst them, from what I could make out (but then again, I did actually get out and kiss the buffers myself)...

      Consider that someone has "chosen" what pictures to show from the earlier periods. The duff ones are ignored.

      I bet the better quality 50's and 60's shots you're talking about came from larger negatives. Filmstock was more expensive and photographers were a bit more picky about what and when they fotted.
