  1. Cab front etch for second driving motor coach blended into place. Cheers Darius
  2. Added the edge strip between the roof and the coach sides using 0.5mm sheets of plasticard. And roof ventilators added. Cheers Darius
  3. Hi Kieran, Yes, there is not much left of the original coach superstructure. The etched side windows and original coach windows don’t line up at all and, what with the inset doors, it was easiest to remove the whole coach sides. The roofs and interiors have gone into the spares box. Cheers Darius
  4. Made a start on the second driving motor coach. Cheers Darius
  5. Headlights, buffers etc. added to the cab end. Cheers Darius
  6. Driving coach roof widened, filled and re-sanded. Primer applied. Cheers Darius
  7. Reminds me of this Whitbread Trophy Bitter ads from the ‘70s. Cheers Darius
  8. Thanks Robert. The plan is to add the footsteps and step lights after the main body painting has been completed. The roof is still a bit too flat so more sanding is needed. Cheers Darius
  9. Roof built up using strips of 1mm thick plasticard. Strips cut over width for sanding to profile. Space created for the decoder. Roof then sanded to profile. Cheers Darius

  12. We moved to Belfast in 1978 so I never got to ride in a MED - just the 70 and 80 Class units. Cheers Darius
  13. Hi Kieran, Essentially I stuck full coach width strips of 1mm thick plasticard together to build up the roof profile using the brass carriage ends as a roof profile guide. Each strip was cut over width and once the whole roof had been done the assembly was sanded to shape. I used Humbrol filler to smooth off the visible lamination marks. I will post more pictures of this process for the driving coach construction. Cheers Darius
  14. Roof built up “Clive Mortimore Style” using laminated plasticard sheet. Cheers Darius
  15. Centre coach sides and chassis completed. The MED roof profile is quite flat so new roofs will be made from plasticard. Cheers Darius
  16. New project - a UTA MED unit in the original green livery using Worsley Works etched sides and ends fixed to modified Dapol Stanier 60’ coaches. Start made on the centre coach. Cheers Darius
  17. Interiors constructed painted and fitted. Light weathering to the undergibbons and calling this finished. Cheers Darius
  18. Hi Kieran, Yes indeed, having these will save a bit of work, especially with those ribs. I plan to finish the MED in the first UTA green livery. Looking at the photos in “Diesel Dawn” I think the sliding doors were also ribbed so I will need to add them. Cheers Darius
  19. Car No.7 interior fitted along with a DCC decoder. Light weathering to the undergibbons and calling this finished. Cheers Darius
