  1. Sounds great. Why don’t you post some pictures on the layouts forum. I would love to see them. Cheers Darius
  2. Instead of flogging this particular dead horse, might I suggest you try some railway modelling or some other form of meditative contemplation. It might make you feel less aggrieved at the world in general. Cheers Darius
  3. The only decals I have used so far are the electrification warning flashes above the cab windows, which were from the (decal) spares box. Someone on RMWeb did produce “Chipmans” decals, but they were the later “triangular” letter style. Cheers Darius
  4. Driving coach glazing commenced. Cheers Darius
  5. Glazing completed and decals applied to centre coach. The decals are by Railtec and are excellent as ever. Cheers Darius
  6. Received my “Part 2” in the post this morning and have has a quick skim through. Equally if not more excellent to Part 1. Reading this one one would have thought that BR’s Engineers would have run out of species of fish with which to name their wagons. Cheers Darius
  7. Hi Robert, I used four lengths of Tamiya tape with parts of the circle cut out using an inverted 14mm paint tin as a guide (pretty much the right diameter). The tapes were then positioned on the cab front to form the circle and the surrounding area masked to shield from overspray. Light coats of white primer and Vauxhall Mustard Yellow followed. Cheers Darius
  8. Ribbon glazing strips cut from acetate sheets from old report covers and vision panels masked. The masked strips were sprayed with satin black and, once dry, we’re glued in place on the coach with the painted side facing inwards - much like the back painted glazing of the real units. Cheers Darius
  9. Looks to be in almost new condition along with the box etc. Possibly collectors are bidding. Cheers Darius
  10. Body painting completed. Cheers Darius
  11. If a model shop gave consistently poor/unsatisfactory service to every customer then they would no doubt find themselves short of customers and cash in very short order. No one is disputing that you were disappointed by your visit but it is big leap to suggest that there is some conspiracy to promote Gaugemaster on RMWeb. I have two model railway shops nearish to me - Gaugemaster in Ford and Morris Models in Lancing. Both are a drive away but Gaugemaster is bigger and has easier parking. Both in my experience charge full RRP and both in my experience provide good service. They are real model shops and there is a certain pleasure to be had from being in an actual shop that you cannot get from a website. I buy from websites (including the big two box shifters) and I buy in model shops such as Gaugemaster. Sometimes there is more to life than saving money on everything. Tell us (repeatedly) about your poor experience by all means and to buy at a discount from other shops is your prerogative but don’t be too surprised if the rest of us don’t follow or agree with you. That is our prerogative Cheers Darius
  12. Second driving coach masked and the blue livery applied by airbrush. Cheers Darius
  13. I thought clicking on the link runs the risk of allowing hackers/malware to access your computer. Darius
  14. Probably the oldest units still in service on the national network. Cheers Darius
  15. Cab yellow circle and black window bands painted. Cheers Darius
  16. Driving coach test fit to the chassis. Cheers Darius
  17. Actually the material is quite resilient and the split was due to the metal chassis forcing the coach sides apart at the ends. The material sands well so I was able to sand thin the 2mm thick sides at the interface with the chassis to enable a better fit. Cheers Darius
  18. Meanwhile I have applied masking tape to a coach body, thinned the paint that I bought from Gaugemaster this morning and airbrushed it onto said coach body. Three coats and it’s done. Thanks to their being open on a Sunday I get to enjoy some modelling. Cheers Darius We now return you to your scheduled argument.
  19. New masks applied and blue paint airbrushed on. Upper door masks removed. ”Loose masks” applied. Cheers Darius
  20. Its deja vu all over again.
  21. Driving coach masked and roof and side upper cheat lines painted grey. More progress after the French GP. Cheers Darius
  22. Hi Pat. I masked and painted the window blue patches and the lower door panels. I then removed the masks to the upper door panels (leaving the rest of the masks in place) and fixed some cheap masking tape so that it draped down from the roof stopping about 5mm above the lower door panels and not stuck down so that the edge of the mask was clear of the doors. I then airbrushed the blue paint with the nozzle level above the edge of the mask, which gives the feathered paint effect on the doors. I’ll take some pictures when I paint the driving coaches, which should be clearer than my clumsy description above. Cheers Darius
  23. Centre coach masked and painted. I used Railmatch “DRS blue” enamel thinned and airbrushed on. Cheers Darius
