  1. Nice drive to Gaugemaster this morning despite the usual shenanigans with the cars parked at the Arundel end of the road to Ford. Got my paint (Railmatch DRS blue) and some Bachmann seated passengers. A good morning well spent. Cheers Darius
  2. So the French don’t have a word for it… Cheers Darius
  3. Is that the same as “Bewitched, bothered and bewildered”? Cheers Darius
  4. I am fortunate to live down the road from Gaugemaster and, whilst I know they generally charge full RRP,I have found them to be friendly and helpful and they have a fantastic range of products. If you have time to kill, changing trains at Ford Station is never a chore. They are also open on Sunday so I will be heading westwards later this morning to get the right* shade of blue paint for my NIR CAF 3000 model and quite possibly some other things. Cheers Darius * or as close as I can find.
  5. Yet more anger. Me - I just like steam locomotives...and diesels, diesel electrics and electrics. Cheers Darius
  6. Err Grizz wasn’t the person you were crossing swords with. Cheers Darius
  7. You seem to have a lot of anger. Do you actually like Railways? Darius
  8. Ballasting in progress... Cheers Darius
  9. Great topic!!! Whilst soldering on handrails and hinges is more robust, you can use small dabs of superglue to attach hinges and handrails. I did that with the coach sides on this LMS Kitchen Car - no soldering done at all. Cheers Darius
  10. Always wanted a rail blue Class 09 but Hornby and Bachmann have never produced one and the old Lima one is too much like hard work. So today I have been mainly repainting a Railfreight Grey Hornby 09. I still need to add number and BR arrow decals etc. and do some weathering. Cheers Darius
  11. ( Do you indeed. Cheers Darius
  12. Are the biscuits still in it? Cheers Darius
  13. Bonnet de douche, Rodney, bonnet de douche. Cheers Darius
  14. As has been stated above, the seller is not “Silver Fox Models”, rather he is “Gostude”, who has something of a reputation on this thread. Silver Fox Models are an established small trader supplying resin-bodied conversions and full kits for various locos and multiple units. I have a few of their products and they are not badly painted but, in my opinion, could be painted to a finer standard. I have bought and painted some of their resin coach bodies. So now you know the difference between Silver Fox Models and Gostude. Cheers Darius
  15. Reading through the last few pages of threads, it strikes me that there is an almost puritanical desperation in some folks to be disappointed in the efforts of retailers and manufacturers that produce ever more superb models. It reminds me of an episode of Frasier where Daphne asks Niles and Frasier how they liked a concert, to be told the performance was magnificent but with one tiny flaw that they will pick apart for the rest of the evening. “Oh good”, she says, “just the way you like it”. Cheers Darius
  16. Thanks Kieran. The sanding did remove some of the fine detail around the light clusters but that can hopefully be restored by careful painting. Cheers Darius
  17. Trial fit of the chassis to a driving and centre car using a Bachmann Class 170 chassis - better looking bogies than a 158. The fit of the cast metal centre car chassis is very tight and the molded ledges in the coach body were at the wrong level and had to be cut away. This left smaller ledges at each door position that were scraped with a knife blade to increase the gap/depth and give a flush fit to the chassis. The fit is so tight that a split has occurred in the resin body at one end. Some grinding of the metal chassis sides and end will be needed to ease the fit. The chassis side valences were temporarily fixed in place with black tack for the photos. Fitting the driving coach chassis is easier as the Bachmann chassis is plastic rather than metal. I cut away the bogie chassis sections and sanded them to fit flush in the coach body using the molded ledges to locate them. I made a separate centre chassis from plasticard with the molded side valences fixed temporarily with black tack. Cheers Darius
  18. Hi Paul, Go back to the first ever post in the thread and select “edit” from the menu in the top right. This is will let you change the thread title. Cheers Darius
  19. Thanks Robert. I travelled on a CAF unit from Portrush to Londonderry and back about 16 years ago and found them to be quite good. Do they have a reputation that I am not aware of? Cheers Darius
  20. Russell reportedly told he will replace Bottas https://www.planetf1.com/news/george-russell-valtteri-bottas-futures/ Cheers Darius
  21. Cabs cleaned up and re-primed. Cheers Darius
  22. Coach bodies primed. The finish of the printed bodies is very good. Some light sanding and finishing required to the cab ends only. Cheers Darius
