  1. When I started to read this my mind immediately started a 12-bar blues progression to accompany the post! Cheers from Oz, Peter C.
  2. Thanks to those who replied to my query regarding VAT. I have had an email from Amey Spink at Ellis Clark confirming they will indeed deduct VAT prior to despatch. Great communications! Order to be placed. I have pix of these at Nottingham Victoria on excursions to Skeggy, must have been interesting on the return journey with all the pitmen having supped at leisure during the day. Cheers from Oz, Peter C.
  3. Hi Ellis, I am very interested in purchasing two sets to make the eight-car rake. I live in Australia and would like to know if you will be deducting VAT from overseas sales, (it will make quite a saving on the price), If you are not able to deduct VAT will these coaches be available from any retailers in the UK who can deduct the tax? Cheers from Oz, Peter C.
  4. For our Australian and N.Z. readers... Lest we forget. From Oz, Peter C.

  6. I have acquired one of these hoppers from Oz EBay which came with KD couplings. I am struggling to find a NEM tail tension lock which fits, did these these come originally with a unique tension lock? Thanks in advance for your consideration, Peter C.
  7. Damnation!!! My cunning plan to rid the roads of my beautiful state of these 'white goods on wheels' obscenities,(aka Toyotas), and send them to points far, far away has been rumbled before it really got underway! There is someone in Perth crying into his cornflakes wondering where his pride? and joy?!? has gone. Hope he's not an RM Web reader! Cheers from the land of the slow white Toyota, Peter C.
  8. I am intrigued by the reference to TriAng D89. Googling it gives no sensible answers, so what is it? Thanks in advance, Peter C.
  9. They actually came ready-fitted, but in common with all of the models I have had from Amanda, and that is quite a few, there is enough inherent flex in the chassis to allow easy wheel removal/ replacement. Cheers from Oz, Peter C.
  10. They come up rather nicely! Waiting for the Insixfish too! Cheers from Oz, Peter C.
  11. As an expat from the UK who has watched with sadness as the country has appeared to have gone into a terminal decline, I am heartened to see that all the apparent social, economic and welfare problems have been solved and people can now concentrate on the really big issues confronting UK society today! https://www.msn.com/en-au/lifestyle/other/a-horrified-shopper-brands-sainsbury-s-big-daddy-steak-sexist/ar-AA19tkDD?ocid=msedgntp&cvid=5675ffb76d2645739f0ecce34481665b&ei=18 The horror, the horror! Cheers from Oz, Peter C.
  12. Hi David, Thank you for the kind remarks! Way back in the day Humbrol did a range of Railway Colours, which was quite comprehensive. Straight from the tin and well-stirred, they were beautiful brushing enamels, and 104 was BR loco green. Around 30 years ago, or it may be a little longer, I was tipped off that a small model shop in Perth was closing so I nipped in one lunchtime and bought about seven tins of 104. My only regret is that I didn't also buy carriage carmine and maroon. All four of the A2/3s were painted using the same tin, which hopefully will also finish my to do 60519, which should be the last. My inspiration came from you as you remarked how easily the chimneys could be removed to mix.n.match, hence I could have a rimless on my 60505, and a rimmed on 60517. It just grew from there! Cheers from Oz, Peter C.
  13. Sorry for the delay in replying David! In theory, yes, all locos I have are intended to be weathered. However, the time allocated to weathering seems to get used for other things! The chassis are given a light dry-brushing with brown to highlight details though. For the sake of completeness, here are 60520 and 60523, treated as above. Cheers from Oz, Peter C.
  14. When you arachnophobes leap out of the way of the incey wincey spider, be careful where you land! https://www.abc.net.au/news/2023-03-23/qld-stinging-tree-gympie-gympie-far-north-queensland/102125176 Cheers from Oz, Peter C.
  15. Some time ago I purchased 500 Edward Thompson for what was then a good price, it would be another 50 quid cheaper now! I repainted it by brush painting with a 30 y.o.'new' tin of Humbrol 104! Fox plates, lining and numbers completed the model. I have subsequently repainted models to yield 60517, 60520 and 60523 as the original Hornby green just did not pass muster. I have Steady Aim and Sun Castle to hand which with a little mixing and matching of chimneys should yield Honeyway and Watling Street. 60517 is a repainted LNER Chamossaire with a chimney swap from 60505. I really do like the A2/3, I saw several of the class 'back in the day', probably at Doncaster whilst on a works visit. All my examples are smooth quiet and powerful runners. Cheers from Oz, Peter C.
  16. Looks like this little chap will be retiring! 3D print on old Terrier chassis, same number too! The two BR examples have been pre-ordered from Hattons, still tempted by 68619! Cheers from Oz, Peter C. P.S. Mr Isles, your next release of the E4 2.4.0 will complement these beautifully!
  17. Hi Tony, I follow your thread with interest as you continue your quest for a model of all classes on the Southern. I thought of you immediately when I saw this on EBay! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/175647176160?_trkparms=amclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D1110006%26algo%3DHOMESPLICE.SIM%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20201210111314%26meid%3De306684ec0564a599139efc36611d0eb%26pid%3D101195%26rk%3D5%26rkt%3D12%26sd%3D144969146433%26itm%3D175647176160%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D0%26pg%3D2047675%26algv%3DSimplAMLv11WebTrimmedV3MskuWithLambda85KnnRecallV1V4V6ItemNrtInQueryAndCassiniVisualRankerAndBertRecall&_trksid=p2047675.c101195.m1851&amdata=cksum%3A175647176160e306684ec0564a599139efc36611d0eb|enc%3AAQAHAAABYBEC%2B8HimpTF6XPanG8lCeF3G6jifrewDlLoKJMPz0RnJH8s%2BUBlIo2cSQSdgSGvSVvCKC6zF4X6tOnQIr392G0gldH8QjhGQ2fmdEokLVFt29UKj%2FEph29NUO0KxqhEb84gZhbKWlWfbravBJF8o5JpJ8EuwB17gpNhvLYCGLJKquMb9BHX59Da96TUP1W93BGT%2FSbJrs5Dv%2BVuuT323Vg6K8KjkeBPr62jv2mLIYFXJF%2Fi5KfSSRaQssk7X6q5%2FF%2Bwb3tz501jnHcRQg4iCyEs4hbbczvHSoAfRpkPivWia8cZfIqxJ%2FHEJFgIFt9W7qbraVW36jSVDTRQQoFLlrLa7TYcBHGIMuzA1Ui9kuSTY%2B4FB7MK0a2fjzi2WdXgJDNSlDqPdyq7%2BcpxNrOoB%2FcygTsle4lHqg9eusYw2%2FbtYoZXFbTYptYfjroi6kimC7h2wAMYaj5FZ7NWpo62jSM%3D|ampid%3APLX_CLK|clp%3A2047675 Something very different?!? Cheers from Oz, Peter C.
  18. My A5 arrived on Oz on Wednesday 8th, 14 days after despatch from Sheffield. I ran it in as per instructions for an hour each way in 30 minute intervals. It did quieten down over this time. Trials on the railway showed it to be a smooth quiet performer with no issues over dead frog pointwork even at slow speeds. On to the workbench this morning for renumbering to 69808, the only member of the class I saw, right at the end of its life, at Nottingham Victoria. I used Fox 10" off-white number transfers as most photos show these larger numbers than those originally on the model. I was going to add the 'RA' code to the bottom of the tank side, but a lot of pictures show locos without it, including 69808. A couple of seconds with a silver Sharpie changed the bunker red lamp to a running lamp. I am very pleased with the model and consider it good value, certainly I will look at a second in the future. Cheers from Oz, Peter c.
  19. The latest Thompson corridor coaches in BR Maroon have a rrp of 69.95GBP, and yet take up of these eagerly awaited coaches on pre-order has apparently been very good. Looked at rationally, (and I may be mistaken here!), the Quad-Art full set of eight coaches comprises only three vehicle types, third, third brake and composite. Thus tooling need only be prepared for three bodies, I also believe the underframes are identical across all types. I am not certain, but perhaps the Quint-Art sets also have the same body types, so both Quad and Quint can be made from the same tooling suite. If each Quad set of four had a rrp of 300GBP, less the usual 10% from most retailers gives 270GBP. This for a very compact four coach train for those where space is a premium, or a still compact eight coach for those with more space, (and funds!!). Accurascale are asking 65 GBP for their BR Mk1 non-corridor stock, so a 4 or 8 coach train of these comes in at a very similar price. Of the two, I believe the Quads would be more popular as they had a larger geographical distribution. I built a Quint set from Kirk kits many years ago, I still have it and it runs well, but it was a lot of work and extra detailing to bring it up to scratch, and I have subsequently sold my Kirk Quad sets unbuilt, for quite a lot of money too, so I believe the demand is there. To be really controversial, I would have preferred Hornby to be doing Quad sets rather than the Coronation! Thoughts, comments and corrections welcome. Cheers from Oz, Peter C.
  20. I would much much rather hear that Accurascale announce a Hawksworth 10xx County, in all variants! The Hornby King isn't that bad. cheers from Oz, Peter C.
  21. Looks very nice indeed Mark! A loco. I would like, given the apparent success of Sonic Models Robinson A5, another nice big tank for them to consider perhaps? Cheers from Oz, Peter C.
  22. A bit ragged, and am I the only one who feels that plain blue skies just look wrong? Looks perfectly natural to me!!! Cheers from Oz, Peter C.
  23. Received an email from Rapido this morning that the (spurious) BR lined black has been approved for manufacture and is available to order. Cheers from Oz, Peter C.
  24. Obviously the bottom right-hand corner shows part of the 'West Country Class' galaxy! Cheers from Oz, Peter c.
  25. Not so. Several of the B2s had ex-NER tenders of the 4125 gallon type as supplied with the Q6 model. So this could be an option without new tooling. My Hornby B2 using a B1 body /Chassis and B17 wheels along with other body modifications and Hornby Q6 tender. This one has a cut back NER tender using the old B17 tender drive GS body and parts supplied with the old Crownline 1980s conversion kit on the modern B1 tender chassis, (which has the wrong wheelbase I know, but it is a connection with my modelling history!). Cheers from Oz, Peter C.
