  1. What does the panel think of using swede (that'll be neep to viewers up top, but who cares as they're rutabagas anyway) in a veg curry?

The Mrs has gone off to meet her daughter in Malta for 10 days and left loads of veg that isn't pies, sausages, white bread or chips and I'm bu99ered if I know what to do with it!

It'll be a turn-up (geddit) for the books however you use it!

I have apparently demonstrated by experiment that one can't edit comments on SSUs. I was going to add:

... I imagine Andy has been wrestling with both sorts on here.

There are two sorts: the slippery knobs you can't turn and the handles that get up your pockets.

I was thinking the BBC is really scraping the barrel if it is going to do a competition about the UK's best sewerage systems.

But apparently, it's about needle and thread.

  11. The two high arc roof LBSCR vehicles seen here on this E. J. Bedford photo of the up Newhaven Boat train at Lewes post 1889 remain unidentified. I have found a photo of what is described as a Midland horsebox kit (photos below), but there seems to be some doubt about who the kit's maker is, or was. There seems to be a similarity (compare photos), given that the Bedford photo is taken at an acute angle and the arc of the Midland vehicle is not a smooth continuous arc and its planking is vertical, not horizontal as on the Brighton vans. I've never found a drawing or Diag. number or a more detailed photo of the Brighton van, but it looks about the same length as the vehicle in front which is either a Stroudley PLV or a Bullion van. Its function also remains mysterious, but they always seem to have gone around in pairs. Anyone know the Midland horsebox kit's maker, availability or ceased trading?

I think we can regard the locomotive and rolling stock kits of the Alan Gibson range as pretty much dead. The present proprietor has his work cut out keeping up with demand for wheels and other components.

The Midland vehicle shown in both LMS and MR livery is a covered carriage truck - not the end doors. The vehicle to its left in the second photo is a Midland horsebox. I'm not sure whose kits they were; I'm pretty sure they're not currently available. Mousa Models did do some etched kits for Midland NPCS but they're not currently advertised.
