What colour are the older Writhlington Wagons?
From WWI it looks like they were grey.
I can find nothing written about this.

Why is the Virgin Hyperloop capsule streamlined ?

Would passengers ever see the ends of the vehicle? Surely their experience would be of boarding through a doorway only. So it doesn't matter whether the publicity pictures bear any resemblance to the actual exterior.
I'm reminded of a comment by a Devonshire villager on first seeing a motor car (as reported by Cecil Torr, Small Talk at Wreyland): he said it was like a railway carriage on wheels. (How do most people encounter railway carriages?)

I used to get adverts related to model railways when I logged onto here - that were as informative as the posts.
But since the last upgrade, I now get adverts for whatever shopping website my wife visited earlier!

Why is it that you only notice the spider in the bath after you've got in with it?

Just found a pair of P4 track company kits and about 5 yards of P4 flex track bases and rai. What layout was I going to build with them?

17 children remain this afternoon out of 29 in my class and this has been replicated across our two-form entry school. Most are off following the government advice. So, when do the mass closures start!?
-
Once you get to the point of having a third of the class self-isolating - and needing to be set work to do at home - the teacher's workload is effectively doubled, as I'm sure @Brinkly knows! At that point, it's much better to have everyone home-learning.

I'm surprised how few UK locomotives have the word 'fox' in their names...
-
Woefully incomplete, I'm afraid. Where's Jeanie Deans? - there seems to be only one Webb 3-cylinder compound listed, John Hick. I recommend J. Goodman, LNWR Locomotive Names (RCTS, 2002).
Also missing are the two named Midland engines, 1738 Class 4-4-0 No. 1757 Beatrice and 2601 Class 4-2-2 No. 2601 Princess of Wales.

I am now gradually reconciling myself to the lack of minced garlic in the shops.

Dear Simon....am I presuming Simon Castens????????....I am the owner of Dent/Dentdale which features in the most recent MRJ...so thank you for your supportive comments......which are heartening and uplifting. I can reassure you that the criticisms from Compound xxxx are so wide of the mark they are laughable. All I have done is remove one arch from Dent Head Viaduct...in every other aspect it is totally to scale, as I built it from the official drawing in Stations and Structures of the S & C, and enhanced the pillars with 7mm rugged stonework to match the prototype requirements. I have also conducted an on-site survey of the viaduct and taken 50 photographs to aid my cause. Is Compound xxxx the classic 'Armchair Modeller' who delights in finding fault....I'm not sure I have seen any evidence of his work?? Best Wishes, Ian

Has anyone eaten my half inch chisel?

So, is it a law, that, once you have solved an electrical problem on your layout, another problem, usually something that has worked reliably up to this point, will now fail?

The good people of Ofsted will be arriving tomorrow.....

And now for a comment not about RMweb.....
Was hoping for a day off yesterday due to the snow (yes, we had an inch or so in Wimborne), but our school remained open.
At least the children liked playing in the white stuff on the field at playtime.

Is reading my favourite magazine again. MRJ no 58 (1992 ) devoted almost entirely to Chris Pendteton's masterpiece. North Shields, it even went on holiday to Spain with me about 15 years ago
