  1. Why do you say plastic when it's made of primarily metal? As someone else has also challenged you, can you say when/where you travelled on one to know they're uncomfortable? Or say what it is about them that makes you feel uncomfortable? Because calling new trains plastic, when they clearly aren't is quite simply lying. Might have seemed funny to people over 50 a few years back but it's sort of tiring now.
  2. Thanks for posting this Only have one TTS but I'll give it a go when I've cleared the other projects I'm on.
  3. If they're that bothered, they would have contacted you. I admire your willingness to want to pay again but seriously, it's not really for you to sort out.
  4. If you're only giving tidbits of information, may as well not bother. Your secretive post is only going to fuel assumptions and guesswork further. Sorry for the neg, just pointing out the elephant.
  5. Yes, I bought some bulbs that happened like this. Bulbs arrived, but PayPal had refunded. I don't know what triggers it.
  6. I have episode 5 to watch tonight but wow! I can see why it's raced to the top of the top of IMDB's top 100 TV series list. It's on Sky and Now TV (as far as I know). Despite the radiation, I'm tempted to book a flight / go by train to a proper tour of Pripyat. You can spend a bit of time there with no ill effects? Anyone else been?
  7. Perhaps. Managed to do it. However, then I figured the body wouldn't sit nicely because the LED lights pushed it off the chassis by a tiny amount (less than a mm). Tut. Took the cabs out and cut a bit off the bottom. Hopefully they'll fit a bit nicer now as I'd rather not squeeze the LEDs back out the light holes and file them down a tiny amount. Already broke one fitting them in! Cheers all!
  8. Not sure why there's an obsession with somehow keeping the HSTs in service. They're old. They were great, but now they're not. Let them bow out with dignity.
  9. Hmm. Thanks. I might have to send this off to someone else to complete. Will take a look at it this afternoon though and see.
  10. I wonder if it's the roof shape. On the model, it seems to be lower and more rounded... almost flatter. The windscreen windows on the model seems to have sharper corners too, but that could be the angle of the photo.
  11. I bought a Piko BR 218. Modified the lights really nicely but now the body doesn't fit on as the ends have a metal bit sticking up. It's only a centimetre tall or so. Looks like I'm going to have to cut the metal off. Can anyone suggest how I could do this? I thought a Dremel but I don't know if it'll spark too much? Cheers!
  12. For DCC use, I know I can cut out the capacitors. Is this the same for a small coil spring of wire? It's going from the DCC plug to one side of the motor. The other side of the motor has one too. I cut one out of a previous loco. Is it safe to assume I can do the same here, with no ill effects?
  13. True. Although the current project is seeing three white LEDs and two reds at one end of the loco (same on the other) anyway - all have their own resistors. Might be a case of leaving it for a loco with loads of room. Cheers!
  14. True. So I'd go Decoder > Resistor > Resistor > LED > Decoder ? Could I go: Decoder > Resistor > LED (1) > LED (2) > Decoder ? (in series) I guess it's just a case of being able to use them up.
  15. Thanks. I'll leave the 560ohms ones at the bottom of the tub then!
  16. I have a bag of 1k resistors, 5.6k ohms, and 560ohms. I presume: 5.6k (5600?) 1000k 560k Is the order of resistance? Would the 560ohm resistors be safe to use with LEDs? I've been using the 1k ones before which are fine. Thanks
  17. So: White wire to front white. Yellow wire to rear white. Green wire to front red. Purple wire to rear red. Blue returns from all LEDs go back to the blue wire on the decoder? I guess the spare solder pad on the decoder is for the purple wire? - the brown and green wires on the Zimo are extra function outputs. I guess the brown is okay to use for the other red lights? I have a Zimo MX600 to try this out with. Cheers!
  18. I had an idea of getting one of these and even sold another loco to fund it. I don't have many steam engines but thought I'd make an exception for this one as it does look quite nice. Problem is, the livery I'd get is simply taking to long to come to the market that I've lost interest and diverted funds to something else I am looking at instead. There's discussion on the Class 90 thread about manufacturers holding back liveries to try and get more sales but it's risky as per my example above. It'd be interesting how many lost sales there are from this sort of approach.
  19. Interesting. Surely someone who doesn't want to change RTR stock in any way is also a modeller? I'm not confident in changing stock / have no desire to do so but I still built the layout. That's like saying all runners are marathon or sprint standard, because if they're not, they're not true runners Not having a go, just posting where my mind wandered.
  20. Is there somewhere I can sign up for when more info about the next batch of liveries is produced? Don't want to miss it but equally don't want to check the website daily. And equally don't want to get bombarded with other products / marketing in emails.
  21. What a few days! Thought I had more money in the PayPal account than I have, so no Taurus + coaches yet. New boiler in, works okay. Fridge broke... right after I spent £50 on cat food (raw food that needs freezing). Queue me taking an extra trip to work to fill the fridge and freezer there with as much as I could. Old airing cupboard is now a linen cupboard. B&Q £2 "to clear" flooring for shelves, the old baton shelves as shelf holders. Put up a mirror but broke it as I was screwing it in. Might change the rawl plugs to "better" ones as the holes aren't that great (my drill won't drill any further into the wall than what I have already). Fridge fixed today (£350 odd in total) means I can relax a little more. However I did solve my points problem by wedging a coffee stirrer under it - the motor pin snagged on a bunch of trains but I couldn't cut it any shorter. has been fairly reliable so far so happy about that!
  22. Sorry, did you get any screenshots? Without them, useless complaining. I note you didn't answer the question above either, but just said there are apps with headings but no actual app - whatever that means? Why don't you just add a screenshot of your installed programs?
  23. Remember, when major updates come through, Microsoft doesn't "update" the system per se. It'll copy certain settings and personal files elsewhere, delete the system (IE, Windows) and install afresh. Then it'll move all the personal stuff back. The same thing happens when you "reset Windows" while keeping files and personal folders. Microsoft will always try and be helpful by re-enabling things you had disabled before, but on the whole, most of my settings have remained the same. Just because you've recently seen it's back, doesn't mean it hasn't been back for a long time. But again, I note no examples of apps... just "stuff and things". FYI @PaulCheffus - have you removed the US keyboard completely? Using the UK one as default isn't the same as removing the US one all together Try that and see what happens in the future.
  24. For what? The asking for £100,000 or the getting £100,000? There's loads that cover both. Peak Design Travel Line Bag: Asked for: $500,000 Got: $5,206,612 They have a Travel Tripod at the moment, asked for $500,000, have so far got $3,814,992 Suburbia Collector's Edition Game: Asked for: $10,000 Got: $1,806,651 Villagers Game (UK!) Asked for: £7660 Got: £482,171 Ultimate Lens Hood (UK!) Asked for: £8000 Got: £186,658 That's over £150,000 more money than what was originally asked for. Crowd funding can be an excellent way to get something to market that's good. If something fails to get funding, it just isn't that good a product, or it wasn't advertised in the right places. Advertise in the right places, it'll be a runaway success.
