  1. Every colour image I have seen shows black plates and I've seen one of the original plates, in black, in a collection.
  2. It is legitimate and intended to be an information site rather than selling. It is accepted that further work needs to be done but Sam's got a lot on his plate at the mo. Definitely work-in-progress.
  3. He must have been there as he thinks he knows it all. This is the second topic I've removed his access to today.
  4. It is; it was covered earlier and I have seen images of the incident that tally with this scene.
  5. Strewth! You made a whole basketload of assumptions and generalisations. I'm really not in the mood today for someone trying to paint themselves white and waste my time.
  6. ... that we don't speculate causes of accidents on here.
  7. At present Rails are the sole distributor for the brand so I'd need to think how it would be termed.
  8. I'll be needing some of the blue fizzy ones then.
  9. A few enjoyable hours spent, quality bacon butties and bags of sweeties brought back to keep Mrs Y happy. @ELTEL asked me to watch the layout whilst he went to the loo, then he scoffed his lunch, came back and saw I hadn't broken it so off he went again for tea and talking. I still hadn't broken it! @wagonbasher showed me his efforts to create my family tree in 3D introducing me to my great-grandfather, Atterley York, who was a Victorian photographer - obviously before he was involved in taking scandalously lewd pictures of the Earl of Dudlai's niece for the 'What the butler saw' machine down at the Bottle and Glass. Here he is, polishing his equipment as usual.
  10. Got any kali or lemon sherbets mister?
  11. No; they're seams rather than ribs. A rib would be an overlaid strip.
  12. A straight top down shot won't tell you what you need. However a top three-quarter shot shows them better. They're not particularly deep and are more evident in a pic like this rather than flat lighting. The research notes for the model show that the model surveyed had weld seams in these positions (nothing in that regard had been changed since coming out of service) and this was replicated. The result is a little more prominent than anticipated but I don't see it, in light of the picture evidence I've seen, as anything too offensive. As with any duplicates there are strengths and weaknesses to each and the best model would be an amalgam of the two.
  13. I was absolutely floored by the news from Andrew. So sudden and unexpected and at a cruelly young age with so much more in life he was looking forward to. I'm thankful that I got to spend a few enjoyable hours with Neil a couple of months ago taking the pics of the layout so it could be in the mag to tie in with the show. Neil came across as a lovely, open and warm bloke and we had quite a few laughs doing the shoot. My thoughts are with Dan and Neil's friends and family.
  14. There's some really enjoyable variety in this with wonderful machinery. Maybe it doesn't get much reaction on here as it's so much more than just choo choos?
  15. You don't want our bombs raining down! Duly merged using this topic title as being more accurate.
  16. This was the first anniversary where none are now left.
  17. Dog with a bone. Why don't you just wait until you've got yours.
  18. Jump to about 3hrs 10mins in and watch it return home in atmospheric lighting. Got something in my eye. 😢
