  1. Exclusive Flying Scotsman models released for locomotive’s centenary year Friday 24th February 2023, marks 100 years since Flying Scotsman – the world’s most famous steam locomotive – set off on its first journey from the sheds at Doncaster Works. To mark the centenary, model manufacturers Locomotion Models and Hornby have worked in partnership to release an exclusive model of Flying Scotsman as part of the National Collection in Miniature Series. Pre-orders for the ‘Flying Scotsman’ 1924 British Empire Exhibition Condition – available from summer 2023 – open today from https://locomotionmodels.com/flying-scotsman-100-years_1/flying-scotsman-1924-british-empire-exhibition-condition-deposit_1 Also launched today and available immediately are four souvenir Centenary Wagons, commemorating the history of Flying Scotsman’s livery and numbers over the last century. Flying Scotsman is a star attraction in the collection of the National Railway Museum (part of the Science Museum Group) in York, where it is a working museum exhibit. Synonymous with the golden age of rail travel, the locomotive is renowned as a feat of design and engineering. Designed by Sir Nigel Gresley, it was the first locomotive of the newly formed LNER (London and North Eastern Railway) and originally numbered 1472. It was given its name in 1924 after the daily 10am London King’s Cross to Edinburgh Waverley rail service. Supported by lead centenary sponsor Hornby, the Museum has put together an unmissable centenary programme for 2023, supported by lead sponsor Hornby, which means families and rail enthusiasts from across the UK can book tickets to an event near them by visiting the National Railway Museum’s website. Simon Kohler, Marketing & Development Director of Hornby, said: "Quite a few years ago I managed to persuade my then CEO that Hornby should create a suite of tools that would allow us to produce as many variants of Flying Scotsman as possible. Through these models, Hornby has had the privilege of forging a strong relationship with both the NRM and the Science Museum. We are proud and honoured to be part of Flying Scotsman’s centenary celebrations.” The Exclusive locos and wagons being produced are as follows: To commemorate 100 years of the world’s most famous steam engine, we are releasing four Flying Scotsman centenary wagons. Each of these wagons represents a chapter in the life of this iconic locomotive and shows a different livery to celebrate the different appearances the engine has sported throughout the century. R60171 Centenary Wagon - LNER Green 4472 By February 1924, the locomotive appeared in its LNER apple green livery. It had also been named ‘Flying Scotsman’ after the daily service between London and Edinburgh, and given the number 4472, as shown in our first centenary wagon. R60171 Centenary Wagon - LNER Black 103 In common with all railway stock, Flying Scotsman was painted wartime black during the second world war to comply with blackout measures. During this time, it also held the number 103 as a result of Nigel Gresley’s successor, Edward Thompson’s, new numbering system, introduced in 1946. It is this period of the engine’s history that our second Centenary Wagon commemorates. R60171 Centenary Wagon – BR Blue 60103 In 1948, when British Railways was formed and rail travel was nationalised, Flying Scotsman was given its new number, 60103. It was also painted in BR Blue for a time, as represented in our third centenary wagon. R60171 Centenary Wagon - BR Green 60103 Our fourth and final centenary wagon celebrates Flying Scotsman in its BR Green livery with the number 60103. The locomotive remained in this livery until 1963 when it was retired by British Rail. After multiple restoration projects, the engine is currently preserved in its BR Green livery, and still carries the number 60103. The wagons are available to buy now for £25 each plus postage. R30295 LNER A1 4-6-2 No.4472 ‘Flying Scotsman’ 1924 British Empire Exhibition Condition The British Empire Exhibition Condition Flying Scotsman is available to pre-order today with a £30 deposit, or to pay in full £250 plus postage.
  2. Revolution TEA party! Revolution Trains is producing a second run of its award-winning TEA tankers in 00 gauge, 1:76.2 scale. The models were originally released in 2018, however since then we have received a steady stream of requests to repeat the models, and now there are some revised liveries available to offer we feel the time is right. Revolution is offering the following models: Liveries & Numbers EWS 870203, 870247, 870282, 870309 VTG 88117, 88130, 88134, 88140 88144, 88156 8370 7792 042-4 8370 7792 49-9 88167, 88169, 88170, 88173 Freightliner 871002 Freightliner rebranded 871006 Greenergy debranded 8370 7792 026-7 8370 7792 003-6, 8370 7792 017-6 Please note the graphic images are illustrative and not to scale. The Revolution models feature our usual refinements including NEM couplers and detail variations such as ladders with or without anti-climb guards, single or bifurcated discharge chutes, two types of brake equipment and prototypical variations in manlid arrangements. Since the first run of these models there have been some changes in the fuel transport market; the Greenergy tanks previously offered have now been debranded and are used mixed with the main fleets, largely on the Puma trains from Milford Haven to the west of England and the midlands. Similarly the Freightliner liveried tanks were taken on by VTG and branded with their logo, and are now mixed with the blue and grey wagons in use primarily on trains between Humberside and the midlands. Although these models were first released 5 years ago in 2018, Revolution understands that many modellers are suffering financial pressures so we have kept the MSRP the same, at £48.95. The models are expected to arrive in the UK in the autumn. Like all manufacturers with production in China, Revolution is working hard to minimise the ongoing impact of Covid restrictions such as sudden shutdowns or social distancing protocols. These are causing delays both in manufacture, as fewer staff can work on production lines, and in sourcing electronic parts and other components. Revolution appreciates our customers’ ongoing understanding of these issues which are outside our control.
  3. Looks like Gerry Anderson may have been "inspired by" Thunderbolt too. Don't tell SK or he'll wheel out the Caley single again with some avocados on bolster wagons.
  4. If you mean that you can't see the images in an earlier post that is because we had a server drive failure last year and many images could not be recovered.
  5. It wasn't coal but his shovel looks a bit shiny.
  6. The Hymek was the same as the Heljan original before the recent lighting and circuitry upgrade.
  7. I'm not wasting any more time explaining examples of practicality and reasonableness to someone who just wants to goad. Toddle off.
  8. Yes; several times - to say that we can't work out the common factor. It's not at the server end, it's something at the user end and their browser. Try it when logged out or on another browser to prove that point.
  9. There's enough cloudiness and confusion between red and yellow boxes, red boxes with cream sleeves and if you bring red boxes with cream lining on them into the equation it'll only add to it. At least blue-striped boxes are a bit different.
  10. Evidence suggests that doesn't happen given some bits that do get aired as much as any conspiracy you may wish to hold that important things get sanitised.
  11. Cavalex Models to release Class 60 in OO Cavalex Models are pleased to announce our newly-tooled Class 60 in 4mm. The model is already significantly advanced and currently at the tooling stage, having been in the works for the past few years. All variants of the 60 are being tooled, to accurately cover all 100 locomotives produced between first delivery of 60001 in 1989 and the present day operations of the fleet. This will of course see the release of Class 60s in configurations and liveries that haven’t been available before in 1:76.2 scale. The Cavalex Class 60 has been designed completely from scratch, based on original works drawings from Wabtec and an extensive survey of multiple locomotives at Toton. We have incorporated numerous innovations into the model which we’re looking forward to showcasing. Whilst the 60 has been released by other manufacturers in the past, it was an obvious choice for us given the prototype ran with all of our released and forthcoming wagons. As with all of our models, the Class 60 has taken years of significant research and development time, which we believe has been well worth it to capture all of the features of this iconic modern type 5 freight loco. The model is currently in tooling and we’re looking forward to showing off a full 3D print of our design at Model Rail Scotland this weekend. The Cavalex 60 will be produced to the same high standard of finish as our highly regarded wagons as well as our forthcoming class 56, incorporating similar levels of detail and innovation. THE CAVALEX CLASS 60 SPECIFICATION: ● 21 pin DCC interface and innovative removable panel to allow for easy DCC chip installation and access to the comprehensive dip switch control for DC users, which allows access to all of the DCC functions for lighting, without the need to remove the model from the track. ● Photo etched grilles throughout the model including body side, roof and etched grilles within the clean air bay. ● A wealth of separately fitted parts across the model, including bogies which aren’t just one piece mouldings to allow for proper detail relief as well as the under frame. ● Fully detailed model of the Class 60 engine room visible through the body side grilles. ● Full independently controlled lighting, allowing for parked, yard, light engine, and ‘on train’ modes, with realistic levels of brightness and colour representative of the prototype being modelled. Prototypical day/night lighting configurations for the modern livery examples. Engine room and cab lighting independently controllable via DCC functions. ● Realistically bright (or dim depending how you look at it) cab lighting, driver’s desk with individually printed dials and decorated full depth cab interior as per the prototype. ● Hall sensors for fully adjustable automated flange squeal on sound fitted models. This feature automatically provides the characteristic screech as the wheels enter sharp curves. Not having to activate the sound manually only adds to the immersive effect whilst driving the locomotive. ● Power bank providing smooth uninterrupted running, which combined with floating centre axles, allows trouble free road holding and power. ● 5 pole motor with twin flywheel and low ratio gearbox for prototypical running speeds typical of the class. ● Provision to order drop-in wheelsets to easily convert the loco to EM and P4 gauges for those modellers that wish to showcase the unparalleled levels of detail and accuracy of the model with equally accurate trackwork. ● Highly detailed and accurate underframe with numerous separately fitted parts. ● Individual details and finish that has been rigorously researched and applied to each model to represent the individual prototype as accurately as possible. ● DCC sound with custom ESU project for our factory fitted sound version and stay alive fitted to all models. EM1 type Speaker and additional sugar cube speaker in the chassis as standard for a balanced combination of low and high frequency sounds to accurately reproduce the prototype via a custom recorded sound project. ● Etched name plates as appropriate to each model number. ● Two styles of cab roof mounted horns to accurately recreate all prototypes. ● Further yet to be announced innovative features. 14. Within reason yes. This is not investigative journalism. For instance; I take a set of photos of a layout for publication and then share them with the layout owner. He replies to say that he sees he's made an error or something's broken on a model. Should I go ahead and publish it for your gratification and his disappointment? No, we'll just use alternative pics. It's time some people lightened up.
  15. Fine for me... Which means chasing down the issue at this end is a nightmare.
  16. I'm looking into it. Happens on a tablet but not the phone or PC for me for a couple of days. There is an update pending which may fix it, but should not be causing it.
  17. I wish you all the best with your recovery, take it steady and just look on it as additional research time!
  18. Have a play Jamie and see what happens. As an experiment I've just built a short carousel showcasing some blogs on a very discriminatory basis 😀 which shows in the r/h column of the VNC - https://www.rmweb.co.uk/discover/1323/ (I don't think it'll show if a user has saved their own Activity Feed as a default).
  19. Thoughts are with Chris' family and friends today. It's just popped up on my Facebook feed that it would be his birthday today.
  20. They've only been processing the orders (along with everything else) for a few days for several thousand orders. Give them some breathing space please.
  21. Have you ordered the most recent type? https://www.kernowmodelrailcentre.com/p/76464/379-442-Graham-Farish-BR-Commonwealth-Coach-Bogies-(x2)
