  1. Unfortunately it's only monthly direct debit Stevie, that's to keep costs down but I'll speak to the office on Monday to see if there's a way round it.
  2. If you believe some folk's perceptions of how things work he'd be wearing a sandwich board and standing in between the showvgoers and a layout or demonstrator. ;)

  5. I may as well close this topic off after a quick summary. Social media post to create publicity - hyperactive frothing and wishlisting - announcement made with immediate reaction of disappointment - supporters turn up to say it's wrong to be disappointed. Waste of everyone's time.

  10. Dapol tools for 'inner' and 'outer' variants of these Powell and Duffryn-built prototypes, with models expected in 2023. Models are in tooling, with first 'shots' expected early 2023, and production models arriving with retailers in Q3, 2023. Early CAD images are shown for illustration only, and Dapol has said that the number of internal ribs has been corrected, with "other adjustments made to underframe detailing." Models are to carry an RRP of £60.00 for the end hoppers, with middle hoppers priced at £55.00. Built by Powell and Duffryn these high capacity wagons were originally bought by ARC and wore the distinctive ARC livery but have since changed to wearing Hanson’s livery. They have on occasion also been seen sporting plain grey to hide graffiti. The fleet is noticeable for its use of distinctive inside bearing TF1 low track force bogies. There are a few variants of the hopper. The outer hoppers are numbered 17XXX and the inner hoppers are numbered 19XXX. Only the most distal end of the outer hoppers are fitted with buffers, all wagons are fitted with buckeye couplings. The Dapol model of the P&D JHA hopper is expected to feature: Inner and outer versions of the hopper: Inner wagons without buffers and buckeye couplings, outer wagons with lamp, sprung buffers and tension-lock couplings with NEM pocket at one end, other end without buffers and fitted with buckeye couplings Die-cast chassis Profiled wheels Sprung buffers on outer most wagon end Close coupling mechanism fitted to both types, capable of operating on minimum of 438mm radius Working rear lamp on outer most end of the train (DC directional, 6 pin DCC socket for control of flashing lamp) The models will be finished with high level of detail, which will include many separately added details Designed from works drawings Liveries proposed are as follows: 4F-081-101 P & D JHA (middle hopper) ARC Olive & Grey 19823 4F-081-102 P & D JHA (middle hopper) ARC Olive & Grey 19841 4F-081-103 P & D JHA (middle hopper) ARC Olive & Grey 19853 4F-081-104 P & D JHA (middle hopper) Hanson Blue & Grey 19802 4F-081-105 P & D JHA (middle hopper) Hanson Blue & Grey 19811 4F-081-106 P & D JHA (middle hopper) Hanson Blue & Grey 19833 4F-081-001 P & D JHA (end hopper) ARC Olive & Grey 17912 4F-081-002 P & D JHA (end hopper) ARC Olive & Grey 17918 4F-081-003 P & D JHA (end hopper) Hanson Blue & Grey 17913 4F-081-004 P & D JHA (end hopper) Hansen Blue & Grey 17922 See your local Dapol stockist to pre-order the above models.
  11. Manufacturer updates its tooling of the Ivatt 2MT 2-6-2T locomotive, while making decoder installation more user-friendly. Anticipated to arrive in Q3, 2023, Dapol's latest announcement in a flurry of updates revealed at the Warley 2022 Model Railway Exhibition this morning sees its Ivatt 2MT 2-6-2T tooling partially updated to "make DCC decoder installation easier." Dapol is reviewing EP samples, while RRPs have been set at DCC 'friendly': £110.00, and DCC-fitted: £148.00. The new models will feature tabs onto which decoder wires can be more-easily soldered, while the wheel profiles of the model appears more refined, too. The tooling was initially released in 2007, and this, in what could be described as a 'facelift' with improved features, will assist DCC users install digital decoders. A PCB is located in the bunker onto which pick-up and motor connections are terminated. Dapol commented, "It is a simple matter to replace the PCB with a wired ‘micro’ decoder by making four solder connections. Analogue/DC-only users do not need to make any changes." The LMS Class 2 2-6-2T locomotives were designed by H. G. Ivatt and constructed between 1946 and 1952 to replace older locomotives. This versatile class was built primarily for branch line duties for which their “Prairie” wheelbase was well suited. Ivatt also included several labour-save features such as self-cleaning ashpans to improve operating economies. Following an initial batch of ten locomotives built by the LMS, British Railways decided to enlarge the class and a further 120 examples were built. During BR days, the locomotives were allocated to the LMR, SR and WR regions and were equally at home hauling passenger and goods services. The last member of the class was withdrawn in 1967, but four examples of this popular locomotive type have been preserved and all are presently operational. Models are to feature the following specification: Highly-detailed body with many separately added parts A choice of liveries Die-cast wheels and chassis Keyed axles (similar to the Dapol N Gauge A4/A3) to prevent quartering slippage The model is DCC ‘friendly’ Three-pole 'can' motor providing smooth slow-speed running and a realistic top speed The following liveries are proposed: (2S-015-005) Ivatt 2-6-2T 1207 LMS Unlined Black (2S-015-006) Ivatt 2-6-2T 41227 'British Railways' Lined Black (2S-015-007) Ivatt 2-6-2T 41208 BR Early Crest Lined Black (2S-015-008) Ivatt 2-6-2T 41236 BR Early Crest Lined Black (2S-015-009) Ivatt 2-6-2T 41204 BR Late Crest Lined Black (2S-015-010) Ivatt 2-6-2T 41319 BR Late Crest Lined Black (2S-015-011) Ivatt 2-6-2T 41241 KWVR Lined Maroon See your local Dapol stockist to pre-order the above models.
  12. Dapol reveals EP samples of a new announcement for 4mm:1ft scale / OO gauge – a two-axle 'tank' wagon. Dapol has made public its plans to create RTR models of the Class A and Class B conversions of the 14T Air Ministry tank wagons for OO gauge / 4mm:1ft scale. World of Railways was given early access to assess plans for the models during a recent factory visit, and we were impressed by the profiled wheel faces, and its sprung suspension – the latter, a first for a mass-produced ready-to-run item of rolling stock in the scale. The majority of these tank wagons were built between 1939 and 1944 as Class A wagons for aviation fuel, being 17ft-6inch long on a 10ft wheelbase fitted with RCH either side braking and split oil axle boxes. The tank had a 7ft 2in diameter containing 4275 gallons, and was saddle-mounted with two small platforms on the top. Post-war, around 1947, surplus tank wagons were converted to Class B fitted with heating coils to help discharge of viscous fuel and bottom discharge. All Class A tanks had gone out of service by 1971 with the last B Class tank following in 1973. Features of its new models are as follows: Class A & Class B wagons to be produced Detailed body shell and chassis Many separately added fine details, including separate platforms and ladders where appropriate NEM coupling Finely profiled wheels (front and back) Full sprung chassis – a first for OO gauge RTR models Proposed models are as follows: (4F-058-001) 14T Tank Wagon Class A Esso Silver 298 (4F-058-002) 14T Tank Wagon Class A Shell BP Silver A7498 (4F-058-003) 14T Tank Wagon Class A Regent (Red Letters) Silver 101 (4F-058-004) 14T Tank Wagon Class A Shell Motor Spirit Silver 7522 (4F-058-005) 14T Tank Class A Lobitos (Blue/ Red shade) Stone 107 (4F-059-001) 14T Tank Wagon Class B Shell - BP Black 5172 (4F-059-002) 14T Tank Wagon Class B Esso Black 1869 (4F-059-003) 14T Tank Wagon Class B Shell - BP Black 5133 (4F-059-004) 14T Tank Wagon Class B Shell Esso Black 1914 (4F-059-005) 14T Tank Wagon Class B Berry Wiggins Black 101
  13. Revolution Trains wows at Warley! Revolution Trains is delighted to be back at the Warley National Model Railway Exhibition at the NEC – the first for three years! The show is invariably the highlight of the model railway year, and this time Revolution had a variety of exciting models on display. FNA-D in 00 and N Taking centre stage were decorated samples of the forthcoming FNA-D modern nuclear flask wagon in 00, and the unpainted first engineering prototype sample in N. The prototypes number 40 and were introduced from 2014; they have now fully replaced the older design. Revolution is offering its model in eight different number sets – with prototypical variations in markings – for £32.95 in both 00 and N. The models can be pre-ordered direct from Revolution or from selected retailers. MMA/JNA second run in 00 00 modellers were also informed that Revolution’s very popular MMA/JNA box wagons will be the subject of a second production run next year. The most popular of the first run liveries – such as DB red – will be rerun, however in addition Revolution will be offering those liveries that have been delivered since the first batch of models was shipped in 2019: Cappagh blue, Touax maroon and Wascosa/Network Rail yellow. There will be some minor tooling amendments to ensure we can prototypically replicate the very latest versions. Class 18 hybrid shunter breaks cover Also on display were first EP samples of the forthcoming Revolution Class 18 shunter. Dispached first were the Beacon Rail version, and the Tata Steel variant. These samples do not have a motor or working lights but were designed to be sent to assist us with checking the fit of components and comparing with the look of the prototype. Once a working sample has been fully assessed and passed Revolution will be looking ahead to the preparation of decorated samples. This model is available to pre-order direct from Rails of Sheffield only.
  14. I can assure it wasn't; it was very well executed and framed.
  15. I daresay you didn't see the exhibit and its context raising money for a railwayman's charity. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-beds-bucks-herts-26970204
  16. I think that looks rather good; a great extension and should give a lot more entertainment.
  17. CLASS 58 JOINS HELJAN ‘O’ GAUGE RANGE All-new BR freight diesel unveiled at Warley National Model Railway Exhibition on November 26th. Visitors to the Warley National Model Railway Exhibition this weekend will be the first to see HELJAN’s new O gauge Class 58 – a surprise addition to our range of high-quality British outline diesel locomotives. This all-new model has been produced in response to strong demand from O gauge modellers and provides an appropriate follow up to our hugely popular Class 56. Six liveries will be available on general release via HELJAN stockists (see below), with a further locomotive in Mainline Blue available from Gaugemaster stockists as part of the ‘Gaugemaster Collection’. Two more versions will be available exclusively from O gauge specialist Tower Models – see www.tower-models.com for more information. Standard features will match the demanding requirements of today’s O gauge modeller, including a ‘plug-and-play’ DCC interface (ESU LokSound XL #58515 decoder required – not supplied), powered roof fans (independently controlled in DCC mode) LED lighting with independently switchable headlight, cab interior and tail light functions, provision for a DCC-activated smoke unit and a large speaker, sprung buffers/couplings, detailed cab interior and bogies and much more. Suggested Retail Price (SRP) is £729.00 or £749.00 for factory weathered models. Tooling covers both ‘Phase 1’ and ‘Phase 2’ locomotives with numerous authentic detail variations on the bogies and cabs, including sandboxes with transparent covers on ‘Phase 2’ locomotives. All models will be supplied with three alternative sets of cab door handrails or etched metal baffle plates allowing locomotives to be tailored to specific liveries/timescales. British Rail Engineering Ltd (BREL) built 50 Class 58s in 1983-87 to a modular design aimed at the export market. For much of their career they were based at Toton depot near Nottingham and deployed on merry-go-round coal trains between East Midlands collieries and power stations. In 1994, the fleet transferred to Mainline Freight and quickly expanded its range across the south-east of England and to a more diverse range of freight traffic. In 1996, the fleet was absorbed by EWS and although it was expected to form a key part of the company’s long-term plans, withdrawal took place between 1999 and 2002. EWS and its successors exported many ‘58s’ to France, Spain and the Netherlands for further use.
  18. REALISM REDEFINED AND HELJAN UNVEIL ‘O’ GAUGE PCA TANKS High-quality ‘O’ Gauge powder tank wagons for cement and chemical traffic to be released in 2023. One of four exciting announcements from HELJAN this weekend at the Warley National Model Railway Exhibition is an all-new PCA powder tank wagon for O gauge. These superb new models are being produced exclusively for Realism Redefined, the retail arm of ‘Britain’s Biggest Model Railway’. Featuring compensated axles, sprung buffers and Instanter couplings, fine pipework and underframe detail, separately fitted walkways, the model is based on the depressed centre PCA tanks used for cement and chemical traffic since the 1980s. The first batch includes no fewer than 10 individually numbered and decorated cement wagons (see artwork below), allowing customers to assemble realistic ready-to-run block trains. Also in development are similar wagons in Lever Brothers/Tiger Rail and Albright & Wilson liveries for powdered chemical traffic – ideal for 1980s/90s Speedlink trains. Priced at just £99 each, the PCAs represent excellent value for money and are expected to be extremely popular with ‘O’ gauge modellers. See www.realismredefined.co.uk for further information and advance orders. CAD work and livery artwork is complete and we expect the first engineering prototype samples to arrive in the UK for review in early-2023. 19. HELJAN 2023 RANGE UNVEILED AT WARLEY NEC EXHIBITION New locomotives and rolling stock for ‘OO’ and ‘O’ gauge joined by sought-after reruns of existing models. Visitors to the Warley National Model Railway Exhibition this weekend will be the first to see HELJAN’s 2023 catalogue, containing a strong line-up of new and refreshed models for release in 2023/24. Our 2023 UK outline catalogue goes on sale to the public at the NEC this weekend and will be available from HELJAN UK stockists from next week, priced at £3.50. Retailers can obtain copies for sale via Gaugemaster with immediate effect. Headlining the new announcements are a Class 58 diesel in O gauge, a Class 86/2 AC electric in OO gauge and, for the first time as a ready-to-run model, the distinctive Newton Chambers TCV Car Transporter in OO. Both the Class 58 and the TCVs are well advanced, with factory decorated samples already in the UK for review. The TCVs will arrive first, in Spring 2023, followed by the ‘58’ in mid-year and the Class 86/2s towards the end of 2023. See separate press releases for more information on these exciting all-new models. A number of other new models make their debut in the 2023 HELJAN catalogue, including BR/NBL prototype diesel 10800 (due Spring 2023) and our retooled and upgraded OO Class 26. Having announced the new ‘26/1s’ with Far North Line twin headlights earlier this year, we can now confirm the identities and liveries for the remaining models in the initial batch of releases, including a special ‘tatty’ edition in Railfreight ‘Red Stripe’ for the Gaugemaster Collection. See listing below. Further versions covering the ‘Pilot Scheme’ Class 26/0s are currently in development and will be announced in 2023. Also in the catalogue for the first time are the Southern Railway CCT/PMV vans and updated Class 45 diesels in O gauge announced earlier this year. Reruns and upgrades of existing products include the ‘OO’ Class 57 in several new liveries plus Class 20 and ‘Western’ diesels in O gauge. Following the sellout success of our recently released OO Class 45 ‘Peak’, a second batch is now in preparation for release in 2023 featuring liveries and ‘specials’ not covered in the first batch. Further versions of the classic BR/Sulzer 1-Co-Co-1 family are currently in development and will be announced in 2023.
