  1. Alderford is all set up and ready to go. Looking forward to a great weekend. Please say hello. Cheer Jeremy
  2. Well, Euxton Junction is back home in the Club House at Preston after a great weekend. It was really busy on Saturday especially and the layout seemed to go down well. Many thanks to Guy and all the team of volunteers who work really hard to make Showcase a unique show to attend. We were made to feel very welcome and it is the only show that we are happy to attend with no barriers, even though we have have lots of catenary and phone masts near the edge. The Town Hall staff also worked hard and the food was good. We felt that the venue had the same sort of vibe as the Town Hall at Burton which was nice. I am looking forward to attending next year either as an Exhibitor or as a punter. Cheers Jeremy
  3. If you buy an fully electric vehicle, it doesn't matter if its more than £40k, you still don't pay any vehicle tax on it, including the additional tax for being over £40k.
  4. I did, and haven't regretted it! I do like to park correctly and use my indicators though :)
  5. When I said that there were not many "Up North" I meant of the Tesla stations in the non-Tesla pilot. On looking further I see that there are a few: Manchester and one near Chester, (which may be useful to me) Birmingham and the one near Seahouses in Northumberland are miles away but are at least a start. Then there are the practical issues, will a Tesla lead stretch to the right hand side of my car... I doubt it watching the recent video posted here. Still it does give more options which is good. Cheers Jeremy
  6. Unless I'm missing something, there don't seem to be any 'Up North!'
  7. "I thought they would consume more than that." Its just Physics, P=IV Power = Current x Voltage So the current for a 7kv charger on 220V is just 7000/220 = 31.8 amps When I had my charger fitted, the guy showed me the current sensor on the house feed, so should the total current for the house approach the 80A fuse I have, it will throttle back the charger to avoid overloading it. Its a Podpoint charger btw. Jeremy
  8. Great Endon now all put away. Thanks to Les and Chris for organising the Exhibition, and thanks to all those people who attended, it was a great weekend and nice to get back to a bit of normality. Cheers Jeremy
  9. Great Endon all set up and (nearly) ready to go. Just got to fill the fiddleyard. Looking forward to a good weekend. Cheers Jeremy
  10. Getting ready to set up tommorrow, everything is go!! Looking forward to seeing everyone. Jeremy
  11. Just seeing the warning at the top of all the exhibition pages, "*IMPORTANT* - Please check with any organiser's website to see if an event is still proceeding before making a journey." I thought I better add the official website to make it easy for people to check the latest status: http://www.prestonanddistrictmrs.org.uk/exhibition/ Of course any changes would be posted here too Cheers Jeremy
  12. Hi, I had this problem with my LZV100 unit. I found that you can get the proper replacement from Farnell and I took a photo so that I could help others in the Preston club. My unit has worked properly ever since. I hope that this helps you and others Cheers Jeremy
  13. Thanks to Paul and his team for organising the exhibition. Great Endon is back in my garage after a very wet trip back to Lancashire. We thoroughly enjoyed the exhibition and were so pleased that you made it happen, given the circumstances. Cheers Jeremy
  14. Using that argument then all petrol cars should be taken off the road as highly dangerous.
  15. Just a thought, maybe it was designed for a smaller better performance capacitor, but due to the current chip shortages, they are not available, so they fitted the larger available ones to keep delivery dates? Maybe I'm being generous? Cheers Jeremy
  16. Well this thread has given me the impetus to go and see if I can start my bike this afternoon that is little used and has sat in the garage all through lockdown. We will see if it will start.... it was never one of its strong points. After a few road bikes, I've stuck to trail/enduro bikes and it's also the fist bike I've had that doesn't have a carb on it! (Fuel injection) I'll report back as to how I get on. Cheers Jeremy
  17. I don't think anyone has mentioned yet that one problem with these voyagers is the bogie towers and the grease used within them. I had similar performance issues with a 220 and had replaced the motor without success. I eventually stripped the bogie gear towers and found that the grease had turned to a rubbery texture that was no doubt dragging on all the moving parts. A thorough cleaning and re-greasing certainly helped. Similarly checking all the electrical connections also helped as mine had DCC sound fitted and some of the wiring wasn't soldered very well from the factory. Sorting both of the above has got my 220 Voyager performance to what it should be. Hope this helps Jeremy
  18. As requested above by Amarr40, a couple of pics during my first look at my pair of DRS 33s Cheers Jeremy
  19. It was good to see everyone at the weekend. Everything is packed away until next year, and we had a good turnout through the doors and overall a good show. Thanks to all that helped, exhibited, traded and to all that came to see the show. Cheers Jeremy
  20. Everything is in the process of being made ready - despite the weather!! Looking forward to a good weekend. Cheers Jeremy
  21. Not long until the weekend now! Everything going to plan so far.... ;-) Cheers Jeremy
  22. Its that time again for the 2020 Preston Model Railway Exhibition: Further details (times, prices and map) can be found at http://www.prestonanddistrictmrs.org.uk/exhibition/ Looking forward to seeing folks Cheers Jeremy
  23. Thanks Class52 for your kind comments. Euxton Junction will be touring the county over the next few months from Jarrow to Train West then to DEMU Showcase in June. Thanks also to Accurascale for producing such wonderful wagons.
  24. Just to see how good the new Accurascale PFAs are at running, yesterday afternoon at the Kendal Model railway exhibition, I was brave and changed my double headed pair of DRS 20s from the front of a rake of 9 DRS PFA wagons, (where the had run faultlessly on the Saturday), to a top & tail formation! Given that both of the Cl20s are powered, this would be a challenge fora rake of short wagons on a large round & round layout with complex fiddle yard. I was amazed and pleased that they ran perfectly with no derailments at all!! Here is a prototype photo from Flickr: Here are (hopefully) a couple of shots on the layout front: Cheers Jeremy
