  1. The bogie Dapol wagons I have. Megafrets, Silver bullets etc all seem to use #17 Kadees which makes me think that Dapol fit the pockets to far out. But in the case of the Turbot and Bolster E there's no choice due to the short wheelbase bogie been so close to the wagons headstock. So on my Turbots I decided to cut the pocket in half, then chopped the tail off a Kadee #17 and glued together.
  2. Seen on Facebook today top n tail 91s on a mixed prentendolino, Greater Anglia and prototype HST livered rake of MK3s test on the ECML. Sorry I'm unable to share the link
  3. Definitely did in the EWS era of the late 90s. Try having a look at Roddy Mcphee on Flickr there's bound to be a few pics that will be of use to you on there.
  4. If I remember correctly these TEAs are numbered in the 859XX series and worked exclusively out of LOR and Humber refineries untill the the 88XXX and 870XXX TEAs were introduced from 2005 onwards. Edit. There's some pics of clean tanks at Marcroft Swansea Burrows in 1992 on Paul Bartlett's site
  5. I have some MK1s also without the cams so I will be going down the Keen Systems route. But I need the return springs doe's anyone know of where i can get some?
  6. The Dutch 56 is 031, the grey patch in the centre of the bodyside between the yellow and dark grey is where its name plate was. Haven't a clue about the 56 coming from the Grimsby direction.
  7. Haha that's what I thought. Please don't be 1990s I can't afford another hit in the wallet. oh phew
  8. The tug still has its tail lights on its leading end. Haha contemporary scene the vid is 20 years old yet it feels like yesterday!
  9. Does anyone know what's the best match for BR engineers grey? I fancy having a bash at doing a couple of plain grey locos ala 73106 Thanks in advance.
  10. There was also a rake of the EWS red FKA twins in use around the year 2000. GBRF have gone on to use the 640xxx FEA twins and singles in blue and the odd Network Rail yellow FEA singles have made an appearance on gypsum and container trains in the past ten years or so.
  11. Dunno about the subclass been reused but yes the engines were trialed for the proposed the class 38. I hear the straight 6 Mirrlees Blackstone in 37901-904 is identical to the 8 cylinder prime mover in the class 60s.
  12. Livery wise not particularly my cup of tea. But at least we will hopefully have another working example of premier West Coast traction to enjoy.
  13. Its a bit late for your time frame but I have a copy of Class One from 2002 with the following diagrams in. There was four diagrams. 1C33 12:33 Paddington to Plymouth, 1A83 16:38 Plymouth to Paddington, 1A99 22:00 Penzance to Paddington and 1C99 Paddington to Penzance sleepers. The ECS into Paddington would be top and tailed by 47s. Although they often used one of the 08s from Old Oak if they were short of 47s and latterly 57s. I spent some time spotting at Paddington during 1999 and from memory there was a late morning departure with two of the newly converted motorail vans at the front and an early evening arrival without vans. Cannot remember if the sleepers ran with the vans at that time. I never heard of purple Ronny working the beds think it was restricted to an out an back Paddington to Plymouth diagram. Hopefully this is of some use.
  14. These are PNAs. P stands for 4wheel privately owned wagon.
  15. Oh yes that's a big hole filled in the 4mm container flat market. Can't wait to get my hands on some of these.
  16. Container flats seem to be popular at the moment. How about the EWS Thrall built FCA twins with MOD containers?
  17. I'm looking to paint some wagons and coaches, does anyone happen to know of a match or close enough Halfords rattle can colour for EWS maroon and gold? Also if anyone can point me in a similar direction for Serco railtest red and grey that would be great. I might actually get round to using the Hurst models brass sides that I've had for the past 20 years. Thanks in advance.
  18. Apparently the loading gauge at Wakefield Europort was turned off as the loco kept triggering it, the report is somwhere on the RAIB site. I don't know about Australia but in the late 90s in USA there was a diverted stack train that shaved the roofs off a few containers and knocked some box's off its wagons when it went under a Freeway bridge
  19. A Wakefield to Southampton intermodal had a highcube box loaded onto a normal height flat wagon instead of a lower deck megafret/FKA. I think the RAIB report said it wouldn't have fitted through the tunnels further down the line.
  20. Next PFA release? Often used to see two or three of these Omya tanks on the Doncaster to Mossend Enterprise.
  21. You can 90005 to the list of plain unbranded Virgin 90s working for Anglia
