The trouble with this model is that the more I see of it, the more I WISH i'd seen it in real life. That workshop, at right angles to the rest of the shed, must have been fascinating..........
-
It must be lovely to do something like this, take your time, and work on a long project.
Nice modelling, as always.
-
Interesting, the doors look like French windows, and don't look large enough to admit a loco.
-
We saw a pile of it's streamlined casing on the scrapline at Doncaster in 1960. The works guide confirmed it was from the Hush-Hush. Quite sad.

Very nice. Do you also have the sole A1/1, 60113, Great Northern?

Quite good. Is it a kit? Or scratch?
Did fuel tanks have offices so close in real life?
-
I too will travel to see this once it's nearing completion, or complete........(is ANY layout EVER complete?)
-
I've run out of superlatives. When it's done, I'm going to feel like I actually DID get to go round...........
-
Rather a lot of track in a very small space. Take care not to get it TOO cluttered, leave room for scenery too.
-
Photos never lie.........yeah, right! Spirit levels, however, definitley do not.
Enjoying this thread immensely.

It just gets better. Every time I see an addition to your blog I click on it with keen anticipation.
Funny, I've been round quite a few roundhouses in the UK and France, but not until I started following this had I though about the different length roads..........
Can't wait to see thew turntable get built. I trust there will be a blow by blow?
-
Is it the photo, or is it sitting a bit tall?
-
Wow! High tech modelmaking, I love it.
-
Is this for an engine shed? Remember that in late steam days, many sheds lost either the whole, or part of the roof. You could leave out some glazing to see better.
-
Can you explain why the embankment is placed as it is, with the green at the rear, so that white fur shows at the front?
-
Hope you are soon well again. Been ill with a throat/chest infection myself for ten days now. Whatever happened to the old ones we got as kids: one day with a sore throat, one day with a runny nose, one day coughing, end. These ones can take 4-5 WEEKS to go

That top photo is very atmospheric. Glad you got the info before it was all assembled:)
Looking at the front of the shed, it's a veritable cathedral to steam, isn't it? Not just built to function, but to look good too. Built at a time when stuff was built to last and to look the best it could...........and we knocked most of it down:rolleyes:
Here's a suggestion, having looked again and read what I've just written: have a look at the remaining pieces and check that they are symmetrical. If not, try and find some photos of the point that's not.

Oops, typed a 3 instead of a 2 half awake this morning.
-
Looks nice, whose is the Standard 3?
-
Woo hoo! It LIVES!
This just gets better, I'm running out of superlatives.
-
Has to be 60136, Alcazar!
BTW: Didn't see your original thread, and I know the above photo isn't the best quality, but exactly what IS wrong with your model?
-
Looks nice. Where is the backscene a picture of?
-
Right: in that case, I'll await developments with interest.

Lots of Peaks found their way down there, I used to travel regularly from Sheffield to Birmingham New Street in the early 70's, and the trains went to the west country, (Plymouth, Exeter or even Penzance), or South Wales, and were often class 46-hauled, later 45/0.
Perhaps yours failed at Plymouth, went to Laira for rectification, and was then rostered locally to run it?
"A Prototype for Everything" as the Railway Modeller used to say;)

And I thought it was a project to build a diesel depot to rival BarrowRoad's steam shed.
