  1. Watching BBC News earlier - at the small banner at the top it said ‘Local time’ and then what the time was. Strange, as far as I know London doesn’t have a different time zone to the rest of the UK.... :D

"Local Time" is the Timezone term for the Timezone which applies to a particular area.

eg. If you are in London. Exeter or Glasgow on 5th Jun, your "Local Time" will be BST.  So will Portugal, but Germany will be one hour ahead and USA 5 - 7 hours behind.

      Yours

      Julian

I had a look, there isn't any direct mention of AY, but it might be that one or more photos are directly attributable to his Y'ness?

It was one of Andy's photos CK; they credited him for a photo of New Bryford.

I wouldn't want to be publicly identified as the culprit(s) when they are finally identified and caught. I wonder if those delayed or with their flights cancelled and plans in ruins can sue the ar8e off those responsible?

  10. Quite a frantic birthday today, as we fly out from Gatwick to Gambia early tomorrow morning. Will definitely be Christmas with a difference!

The way it was handled wasn't very good, I was waiting on the concourse for nearly 30 minutes having been asked to get off an Arriva (sorry, Transport for Wales) Holyhead bound service as they didn't want passengers for beyond Wolverhampton to get left behind. It was clear from the way people were dressed who attended what NEC show!

Beats me why more people didn't have a bright idea and go southwards then change to a northbound train at Coventry. Little chance of having their ticket examined on any of the 4 car 350s I saw!

  19. Had a great day at the Great Dorset Steam Fair today. Saw plenty of steam and traction engines, as well as Standard class 73096. Beef and ale burger for lunch and came away with a cider flagon and some Snowdonia cheddar. :)

Sounds fantastic! Which other steam (railway) locomotives are there?

    3. Liam

      Liam

Full size, there was a traction engine for rails called Blue Circle, and three miniature locos (probably 7 and 1/4 gauge). But it wasn't just road steam engines; they've also got tractors, steam cars, lorries, horse and ploughs and lots more. You won't be disappointed by what's on offer in the food hall!

  20. Off to the Great Dorset Steam Fair tomorrow, any other RMwebbers going?

Went today. Good show, lots to see. But I've only missed one since 1992, and this was by far the worst for traffic, 2.25 hours for the last 5 miles.

And as he drove on, the rainclouds dragged down the sky after him, for, though he did not know it, Rob McKenna was a Rain God. All he knew was that his working days were miserable and he had a succession of lousy holidays. All the clouds knew was that they loved him and wanted to be near him, to cherish him, and to water him
