  1. Not the rarest but certainly rather unusual - the blockade busters run by VTWC when the WCML was closed north of London, departing Euston, taking the New North Main Line then running along the Chilterns to Coventry and into Birmingham. Provided some interesting shots in West London: 221107 passing Greenford by Timothy Young, on Flickr
  2. Loadhaul it is, pity it is not in better shape but my digital archive only dates from 2005 or so. 37710 at Carnforth WCRC depot by Timothy Young, on Flickr Lets continue with a Transrail 37 next...
  3. I think herein lies your main problem. If you skip layouts you are not interested in at shows, then if you had a whole show dedicated to a certain era and gauge, anyone who didn't like those would skip the whole show. You would end up taking a niche of what is really a niche market.
  4. IIRC the York NRM has/had a layout with two scales. The massive size of the layout made the forced perspective work.
  5. Buffet car indeed. Chiltern Trains Mark 3 Buffet 10273 by Timothy Young, on Flickr How about a buffet car on an International train, the further afield the better!
  6. Fittingly enough, this was just down at the other end of the access road, summed up the whole scene: What is life without direction? by Timothy Young, on Flickr
  7. That would be my good lady wife who accompanied me on the completely pointless but entertaining errand.
  8. Loving all these classic shots. I generally only take plane photos while on holiday, so its mostly airliners. A couple of random interesting shots from a long layover in Lima, Peru back in late 2005 Aer Carbie An-32 OB-2098-P departs Lima by Timothy Young, on Flickr Peruvian 737-200 OB-1851-P at Lima by Timothy Young, on Flickr
  9. Technically my local, Steeton & Silsden could count, all it offers is a basic shelter on each platform, but it is far too busy in rush hour to be considered a halt. Teesside Airport might though, lacking buildings, stopping services - just one train a week in each direction stops there for Parliamentary reasons only - and even lacking a raison d'etre - given that the eponymous airport is no longer connected by shuttle bus and has a very limited passenger service itself Lonely view by Timothy Young, on Flickr The bus no longer calls here by Timothy Young, on Flickr 142065 on a Darlington to Saltburn run by Timothy Young, on Flickr
  10. A minor celeb perhaps, but 91107 carried the James Bond Skyfall promotional livery for a month or so and attracted quite a bit of attention. Here it is back in VTEC colours: 91107 at London Kings Cross by Timothy Young, on Flickr I'm liking the regional requests theme. How about steam train in Cumbria.
  11. Can't really see the livery on that anyway! But here is a green loco in a one-off livery to keep everyone happy: 66522 passing Carlisle on a hopper train by Timothy Young, on Flickr Talking of Messina, how about an Italian loco hauled train.
  12. Well lets go for it. Malcolm Rail liveried 66434 by Timothy Young, on Flickr Next up, could we get a sleeper train, of any sort or era, but International would be great.
  13. Yes, I am getting rather confused by this thread now. Perhaps the requests are getting a little too specific? Here is a wildcard - a train arriving at Tehran main station last year: Lets have a train arriving into the main station of a capital city, anywhere outside of the UK.
  14. Traditionally multiple units, particularly electric, have been very under-represented in ready-to-run form. Only in about the last five years have Southern EMUs and modern designs appeared on the mainstream radar. Given that London is the most populous area of the UK, it is strange that many units that form(ed) a mainstay of services there are completely unavailable. Similarly the lack of any tube stock in a ready-to-run form.
  15. The light grey does look more like daytime with the sun trying to shine through the gloaming, the dark seems to be trending more towards an evening. Loving the photos and layout by the way. What part of the world are you likely to be exhibiting in? I would love to come down and see this when it is ready.
  16. 1996 or thereabouts: 308145 departs from Keighley by Timothy Young, on Flickr Okay. How about a photo from the 80s (lets see how far this can go...)
  17. Thunderbirds are.... stationary at Crewe. 57303 Alan Tracy by Timothy Young, on Flickr Keeping the literary-ish theme - how about a locomotive that shares a name with a Shakespeare play...
  18. I do love the 86s, wish I had photographed more back in 'the day'. Got some film photos from the late 90s I need to scan at some point. A few digital highlights from my collection: 86902 sits in York by Timothy Young, on Flickr West Coast Main Line old and new by Timothy Young, on Flickr 86610 passing Warrington for Crewe by Timothy Young, on Flickr 86622 passes Maryland for Felixstowe by Timothy Young, on Flickr
  19. A good day out for myself, my good lady and my father. Great selection of layouts, glad to see lots of small layouts too, got some useful trackplan ideas for my projects. My wife was enthralled by the O Gauge sound equipped Deltic - although it is larger than the space I have for a layout (dodged an expensive bullet there!)
  20. Beautiful models, I had to double check to see that they were actually N Scale. I spent a little while spotting on the WCML at this time, saw the SNCB loco a couple of times, never saw the DB example though. Going to be scanning in my pictures from this period during the summer, so will share them on here, hopefully some inspiration pics in there.
  21. I think it was 2001 that it ran, hired in to cover an engineering diversion, there were also 47s hauling full West Coast sets. Got some film photos, but I don't think I got the Deltic.
  22. York station roof it is: 150141 Not in Public Use by Timothy Young, on Flickr To follow on this one, how about a roller-blind equipped multiple unit with a non-destination text in the destination display.
  23. Its preserved, but on the main line: Alderman A.E. Draper 45305 passes Steeton by Timothy Young, on Flickr My last post for a week or so, off climbing in the Middle East, so lets have a train in the Middle East (loosely defined - I'll allow Arabic North Africa)
  24. For my first play, I shall invoke the 2011 Patriot Act amendment and thusly move proceedings to: Heathrow Terminals 2 & 3
